I want to be able to hide a part of an assembly in one projected view of the 2d drawing but not all, however when I do so the hidden lines stay hidden lines. They do not change. I know you can change the hidden line properties to make them continuous lines but is there a setting that will allow these lines to change automatically?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am patterning a sub-assembly which has a reference part that is not visible in the sub-assembly. I'm driving this sub-assembly with a quantity parameter and when addition instances are created, the hidden part turns visible. I can bring the sub-assembly in multiple times and the parts remains non-visible, however, once I pattern it, the part shows up in all instances except for the original.

Sure, it makes the assembly look prettier and more true to the final product, but say I make a bunch of cuts, holes, etc. at the assembly level, but then I make a drawing for one of the parts that was affected... those edits don't show up on the part itself, so all those edits are of absolutely no use to me when I need to give the guys in the shop a detail drawing of how to make the part. Why I would make edits at the assembly level?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI do a lot of work where I start with a full assembly drawing, then make more drawings for the individual parts. Is there a way to link the title block parameters in the part drawings to the title block in the full assembly drawing? The only way I found was to link the parts together and then grab the info for the drawings off of the parts, but if I'm implementing this in a template used by others I want them to still be able to just fill in the blank on the assembly drawing to make it work.
I was able to get iProperties to show parameter buttons, but I haven't seen any way to link to other files or anything like that.
While making a drawing and there is something which I want to turn visibilty of for a while, I will select from a sub-menu "Visibility" (see the attachment) But what I must do if I want to turn the visibility on again for example to that hole shown in screen shot?

* Select set to "Part Priority"... right click on a line in a drawing view... and "Visiblity" is grayed out.
* Browser Bar... find view of assembly, right click on a part.... and "Visiblity" is grayed out.
I'm making drawings of assemblies in Inventor 2012 and was wondering how to turn off the visibility of specific solid bodies within a single part containing multiple bodies, or make it match the visibility in the assembly and part file itself.
In particular my situation is that I have a camera whose part model includes a solid body for its view cone. The visibility of this solid is turned off, so when opening the camera itself, or the assembly containing it, it doesn't appear, but when I place that assembly or part in a drawing it's included, and the only way I've figured out to get rid of it is to turn the whole camera's visibility off within the drawing.
Why the visibility cannot be toggled on/off in drawings? Why the visibility selection is greyed out?

What if I was to reverse the visibility of these lines segments down the road?
Sometimes I turn various parts (visibility) off in an assembly. If I want to turn them all on again without doing it one at a time or selecting them all individually, I find IV turns everything OFF first, then I have to reselect them all again and turn evrything on. Can it be done in one step instead of two? IV2008SP1

I would like to simplify this assembly into one seamless part for FEM calculation:The assembly consists out of parts that, in reality, will be welded together. Due to their form, there is no way to place them exactly onto each other, therefore there are slight gaps between the parts:
Now when I try to merge the assembly into one part via "simplify" --> "create simplified part" and choose "single solid body with seams between planar faces merged", Inventor does not fill these gaps (even though it displays only one part in the bottom right corner of my window). Unfortunately, the remaining gaps brings "contact" problems in the FEM simulation.

I have a part that has protrusions. When i mate that part up to another part that second part needs to have cutouts/holes to receive those protrusions.
i mainly use it in sheetmetal parts. and use the rectangular protrusions on de contour to mate up with corresponding cutouts in the other sheet. this works with positioning and also makes for a nice weld spot/area.
But also for making holes to accommodate a mold pin used in custom punch dies. I want the intervening part to receive a corresponding (propperly tolleranced) hole automatically. Much like a bolted connection does.
same for parts like circlips. i want them to automatically generate the seat in the part it's mated to. Rather than using the axle generator.
Ofcourse one can place the parts and do an in assembly interpart projection and go from there, but i want the part to generate the (predifined) modification to the other part. It would save time and also reduces problems as the parts are moved about or even removed.
I have an assembly with 10 parts in it. We use many assembly features at the assembly level (Revolve cut, Extrusion cut..etc). How to find the mass difference of each part by comparing at its parts level and its assembly level.

The problem is each piece will more than likely be hoisted separately so I would like to show the CoG for each piece, not the combined master assy.is there a way to do this?

If I want to find part which is inside another part or assembly, which means no matter how I turn camera, I always cannot see that part.
Does inventor has this function? Or is it possible to develope by .NET API?

Why when I mirror a part in an assembly the mirrored part gets a new part number? I want to mirror only the position of the part which is always the same part. Is it possible to do that in Inventor?
View 7 Replies View RelatedThe client I have has 1 seat of factory Ultimate and 8 seats of factory premium.
The issue is the premium seats have an issue when you turn the visibility off on a part in the IPN you cannot turn it back on. This is on all the seats of the premium. There is no issue with Ultimate.
The service pack did not fix the issue. Now I know Autodesk there will never be a fix for this unless I up-grade seems to be the Autodesk way in the past 3 years.
Is there anyway that i can disable visibilty for ALL of the sketches under an assembly in a Assembly Layout? I have multiple assemblies (sub -assemblies) that im putting together into one finale assembly and everytime i unhide a sub-assembly, ALL of the sketches in it apear visible so then i have to painstakenly go throught every sketch and hide it. It takes for ever!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am working on an assembly and idw, and my assembly has a number of reference parts in it. Two patterns of reference parts are not appearing in the idw for some reason.
I can get them to appear by changing the view style to show hidden lines, and then the hidden lines appear and solid lines for all except the first instances also appear. When i turn off hidden lines, the hidden lines disappear leaving the solid lines of all but the first instances. Then if i change the reference data line style to try and show all the lines, they all now disappear again.
I have an assembly that was generated by Pro/E. It opens fine, but there are roughly 1000+ planes that are all visible. Is there a way to easily shut these all off whithout having to do it in each part?

Is there any way to hide construction lines in Part & Assembly sketches in the same way you can in a Drawing sketch?
I know you can change the line colour to the background colour but this makes the lines invisible in sketch as well.
Not being able to hide the construction is making some layouts pretty pointless since relevant detail is obscured by the construction lines. Grounding the geommetry and deleting the construcion lines isn't an option since the sketches are part of the design development and not fixed.
I have a cylindrical shaft passing through a bearing. I have a section view showing a cut-away of half of the shaft and bearing. Automated hatching results. I bring the bearing out of the section view (Rclick > Section Participation > None), and the hatching of the shaft remains visible, through the bearing. An image of this is shown below:
I would like to hide that hatching that shows through the bearing, so that it looks like the image below:
How can this be done?
