Been using Inventor from day one, never had a problem turning off the visibility of parts in darwing views till now.I cant hide parts in IDWs anymore.
* Select set to "Part Priority"... right click on a line in a drawing view... and "Visiblity" is grayed out.
* Browser Bar... find view of assembly, right click on a part.... and "Visiblity" is grayed out.
Im running inventor 2013 and I want to hide a part in one view of an assembly, and for some reason when I go into the browser and try to deselect the visibily it is greyed out. I don't know why it happened.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI want to be able to hide a part of an assembly in one projected view of the 2d drawing but not all, however when I do so the hidden lines stay hidden lines. They do not change. I know you can change the hidden line properties to make them continuous lines but is there a setting that will allow these lines to change automatically?

If I want to turn them all on again without doing it one at a time or selecting them all individually, I find IV turns everything OFF first, then I have to reselect them all again and turn evrything on. View 1 Replies View RelatedHow you constrain a section view so that is perpendicular to an axis. See "SECTION B" on the attached drawing for an example of what I am attempting. I have created the view but cannot make (constrain) the view perpendicular to the slot that is orientated at 30 degrees from the vertical centre line. I have lined up the view by eye so it looks close but it's obviously it's not accurate.

With Inventor 2013, you can filter a part list with Assembly View Representation. Is it possible to accomplish the same thing with API?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen I try to suppress the bodies in the multi-bodies part to clarify the drawing view, I can not do that the way I normally do that if I had an assembly and suppressed the component.
Is it something Autodesk can improve on or rather something I overlook.
I am working with several drawings that were created, I believe, using Inventor 2011. I am currently using Inventor 2013. I noticed some views do not show the outlines of custom parts created using Content Center. And it's only some of the parts within the view. The outlines of parts created the same way show up correctly. The B.O.M. structures for the parts are set to Normal. I toyed with the Drawing View Settings' Display Options with no avail. When the Drawing View is set to Hidden Lines Removed, the part doesn't appear at all. When I select the shaded option, the part appears, but there is still no outline.
Along similar lines (no pun intended), sometimes the outline extends beyond the actual part location. For example, a pipe that is 24 inches will show up in the drawing view as 72 inches. When the shaded option is selected, the part appears correctly, but the outline extends beyond the shaded area.
We use to color components in idw drawings very often. And when we have drawings of large assemblies we lose a lot of time for that. Usually we select the parts from views (having "Part Priority" in Filter Selection), right click and from the properties we change the color.
I was thinking if there could be faster ways to do it. For example to create a command (which later should accessed via a button on keyboard) that will call the colors window in the components properties, having the part already selected.
Probably I need a .vba code or an ilogic rule to create this command.
Having inserted a parts list into my idw drawing i noticed that one of the column widths need to be increased,i went to the edit parts list style and increased the column width,saved it etc.
I expected the column width to increase automatically but it did not.One way i have found to do this is to reload the parts list,but surely this is not the answer.
Is it possible to plot (or print) all sub assemblies or parts drawings into separate pages by code?
I do not want to open and print every parts. One code and print all... Is it possible?
Lets say I have 2 page drawing set of a damper, page 1 contains the main views and all the related part number ballons.
Page 2 contains fabrication details for the parts, brackets, blades etc.
For the parts I just inserted those into the drawing from their respective part file, allowing me to create the necessary amount of views to capture the needed dimensions for the shop.
When I go to apply a balloon to that part it wants to make it part #1 when it may be part # 7 of the assembly.

I have a parametric assembly and some of the parts in this assembly require a "Break". When the part dramatically reduces in size the part view disappears as the part is now located in the "Break". Delete the "Break", re apply the "Break".
I would like to be able to constrain a Break to the part, either a sketch on the view or maybe from Workplanes in the part.
How can you force the geometry of reference parts to print behind to print behind your visible parts. I have my reference parts print out on a light gray layer to be shown indistinct on a drawings, but it prints over my object lines in effect hiding them. This is even true if a reference part is hidden. Then hidden line will print over the object lines as well.

How can i show and measure from the genter of gravity symbol in parts and drawings?
I have several parts which I wish to modify, but, those modifications are only being done to get some prototypes made. I do not want the changed (non-approved part) to be used in current issue drawings, assemblies etc. until I have proven the modifications and am happy with them.
I can do this by doing a save as on the part and could just replace the previous design, but then I lose the history of changes/revisions shown in Vault which is critical to me and part of using vault in the first place.
I'm not sure if there's a way to stop this, but whenever I add parts to an assembly and switch to the drawing of the assembly, the hidden lines for those parts show up in every view of the assembly. Right now I'm having to go to each view and select the hide hidden lines option for each part. Is it possible to stop the hidden lines from showing up everytime I add a part?

I need to put my 3d model on a piece of paper, so I need to have annotate and different views (FRONT and/or TOP and/or Right) of the model.
I tried to use FLATSPOT command, but all annotations (dimensions) are gone. Also, is there any easy way to do annotations?
I'm using Autocad LT 2012. If I draw in an isometric view, is there a way to look at each direction to see the different views? For instance if I make a cube, can I hatch all six sides with different colors to show if I'm looking at the correct view?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI am having an issue with a drawing I have been workign on in Civil 3D. In the drawing I have a corridor and many section views thereof. I was performing some section edits and had been working with two model space viewports so I could keep track of the alignment while performing the edits. When I exitd the section editor, one of my two viewports remained aligned to the section of my corridor, though the view had returned to basic model space. When I switched back to a single viewport, I was left with the one oriented to a section view as opposed to my plan viewport. I reoriented the view to TOP only to find that that most of the drawing, at least visually, is missing. A small portion of my corridor is visible, but appears to have been mostly eaten by some digital goblin.
Similarly, only parts of the overlay I had behind the corridor are visible. I can x-ref the drawing into another drawing and everything is visible. I can copy and paste anything I can manage to select in my drawing into another drawing, where it is also fully visible. I have a couple of profile views who are missing entirely, save their axis and band contents, which I can still see. If i rotate the view one way or another, the amount of visible information changes, but I can't get everything back.
I have created section views of my allignment and corridor in my drawing the problem I have is. In some of the section views there is different parts of the different assemblies not showing up. For example in one section I have my lane then my curb then no sidewalk then blvd. It is not the same in each section view either some are missing one thing while others are missing others.

View 3 Replies View RelatedOn the main sheet of my drawing I have the overall Parts List. Shows almost all parts except for the few that we don't want to list. On the second sheet I inserted a Parts List to show only parts that are shown in a detail on that page, made the rest non-visible.
On the main sheet there is an item (#13) that has a QTY of 3. Two of those Three are optional parts. What I'm trying to do is insert a custom part into the Parts List, give it an item number of 13A and put in the description "OPTIONAL", then do an Override in the balloon to show 13A.
I get it in the Parts List, Apply it, close it, save the drawing. Looking at the Parts List, item #13A is there, but item #14 is gone. I go back into the Parts List and 13A is there and there's a blue box around the item # and the description. I uncheck Static Value and number 14 shows up (item # and the description).
Then I go over to sheet two, open that Parts List and it lists 13A at the bottom with all the info I added in sheet one and it's non-visible. Go back to sheet one, open the Parts List and there is no 13A to be found.
I am working on an assembly that is designed around a box (bounding box) that could change size. I modeled the bounding box and placed it in a new assembly file. All other parts have been created within the assembly by referencing that bounding box with starting work plane and project geometry.
The problem comes in when I change the bounding box dimensions. The work planes for each additional part, which were defined by the faces of the bounding box, do not move when the sides move. Also, my projected geometry is not updating correctly. This is a simple box, with all 90° corners. So, all associated parts (at this point) are just rectangles.
