AutoCAD Inventor :: Make Part Of Different Tubes By Sweeping Circles Along Lines?
Oct 29, 2013
I'm trying to make a part of different tubes by sweeping circles along lines. However one side of the part joins correctly, but other not. I'ill add photos of correct smooth join and uncorrencly unsmooth.

I have a part that has protrusions. When i mate that part up to another part that second part needs to have cutouts/holes to receive those protrusions.
i mainly use it in sheetmetal parts. and use the rectangular protrusions on de contour to mate up with corresponding cutouts in the other sheet. this works with positioning and also makes for a nice weld spot/area.
But also for making holes to accommodate a mold pin used in custom punch dies. I want the intervening part to receive a corresponding (propperly tolleranced) hole automatically. Much like a bolted connection does.
same for parts like circlips. i want them to automatically generate the seat in the part it's mated to. Rather than using the axle generator.
Ofcourse one can place the parts and do an in assembly interpart projection and go from there, but i want the part to generate the (predifined) modification to the other part. It would save time and also reduces problems as the parts are moved about or even removed.

I'm modeling a temperature gauge and would like to have glass over the gauge so the inside is visible. I can easily do this with an assembly, but I'm wanting to do this with a single part. I tried to derive a new part from the assembly, but the transparent part turns solid so nothing inside is visible. Is it possible to do this?
I've include pictures of what I want and what I end up with.

I have created the part based on piece of standard angle taken from library. Now I want to make a mirrored copy of this part by Component-Mirror.
Inventor does not let me do it with standard part.
The question is: How I can transform a standard part to normal one, I mean I could get rid of belonging to standard part? Making a copy does not work. The only way is to derive and mirror this part but I wish there could be easy way.

I need to find out how to make those Glass/Plastic looking tubes like the one on this sites homepage. Not the Forum main, but the Team Photoshop homepage.
I can Make them by hand, but time is of the essence, so shortcuts would be great.I know they're a little, um... Passe, but I think they'd can make them work on a project I need done TOMORROW.

Is there any way to make 2 to sketch lines instead of floating lines so that I can dimension them?
For example, if I have a part that can change lengths and I need to print off a new drawing, it would be good if I could say that the lines were a set distance from each end of the part or some features of the part.
Then I could update the part length, then just open the part drawing and not have to adjust anything.

I had a sketch in one of my views of a planned piece of equipment. I hatched the equipment to show where it would be placed on my shaded views. The part outlines behind the sketch were visible through the hatch. I turned the visibility off of the part lines once I was finished with the sketch, everything is OK.
Now that the proposed piece of equipment is no longer going to be used, I removed the sketch from the view, but my part lines are missing, making the view look a little odd. See below. One side of my filter (gold part) has the outlines visible, the other side shows up without the lines.
After removing visible lines, is there a way to turn them back on again??

I am try to place some tubes on outside of a drum by coding like below
Private Const DrumDia = 3000
Private Const DrumHt = 5000
Private Const StubLen = 200
Dim StubLoc() As Integer = {1000, 1500, 2000, 2700, 4000, 4800}
Dim AngLoc() As Integer = {30, 45, 60, 190, 270, 30}
[URL]
Actually a face problem in one Line of code only
Call oMatrix.SetToRotation(AngLoc(value), oTrans.CreateVector(0, 0, AngLoc(value)), oPoint2)

Is it possible to show hidden lines in one part of a .idw view while the rest of the view does not show hidden lines? In the attached image I want to show the pull handle and towel bar through the glass in the door. The only way I know how to show this currently is to turn off the visibility on the glass.

Im having a little issue with connecting lines and circles but not sure how to shorten the question to do a search on here. I have 2 concentric circles (the two circles form the walls of a round tower wall) which have 2 lines (representing a wall) passing through them. I want to join the circles from the circumference to the lines, but each time I try to do it the line seems to default to the center of the circles and to the endpoints of the lines which is not what I want. The eventual aim will be to remove a section of the circles and the lines where the new line connects to them to form an opening in the walls.
Ive tried <shift>right click and selecting tangent on the circles but I cant figure out what to do on the lines and it constantly defaults to the end of the line not to where I want to intersect the lines.

Is there a way to have the lines in drawing views be the same as the part colors instead of black (like MDT used to do)? Not rendered, 2d lines.
Also, when exporting to .dwg part color lines & the parts as blocks would be great. Ok, maybe I'm asking too much.

Is there any way to hide construction lines in Part & Assembly sketches in the same way you can in a Drawing sketch?
I know you can change the line colour to the background colour but this makes the lines invisible in sketch as well.
Not being able to hide the construction is making some layouts pretty pointless since relevant detail is obscured by the construction lines. Grounding the geommetry and deleting the construcion lines isn't an option since the sketches are part of the design development and not fixed.

I am not able to draws circles and lines etc. using the ribbon or the command line. i am using the correct procedures per the tutorials and I have Google search how to add circles. I click the circle on the ribbon, choose my center point and drag to choose the radius, left click and no circle, same procedure for a simple line.
Is there something that needs to be activated for these to work? I have an activation code which I do not remember using when I installed the software, I only remember using the serial number and product key.

So the drawing gets clear.
How can this be done in Inventor?

I drawning 2 circle as radius 250mm.the distance between two circle is 0.08mm I drawing one line segment between two circle and I Expanding line segment as length 20mm.then I offset this line The amount 2.5 mm in vertical side up.
When I trim these horizontal line that are Cross-Being with two circle the Remaining line segment is shorter than real distance between two arcs I thinks its happening?
Also I attached 7 pics I try show my problem.
Also when I want obtain horizontal distance with distance command or by linear the intersection is not start from circumference.
whats this and how I can get real horizontal distance between two arcs

I am working with a drawing provided to me by someone else, and where there should be arcs they have multiple line segments. I need a radius for what I'm doing, so I drew a circle with TTR and then tried to trim against the tangent lines to get my arc. However, sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn't. why this doesn't always work?

I have attached a example where i try to constraint the tube.ipt using 3D geometry lines of the part Layout_3d_sketch.ipt in the assembly teste.iam, but i'm unable to select any lines from that file.
Why can't i use this 3D sketch lines in a skeleton base part?

I'm using Inventor 2013 and VB 2010 Express... I can find a part or sub from browser and open it seperately by below
Dim invDocs As AssemblyDocument
invDocs = Form1.inv_App.ActiveDocument
Dim invDocument As Document
Dim Sayac As Integer
Dim oRefDocs As DocumentsEnumerator
oRefDocs = invDocs.AllReferencedDocuments
Dim invDocument2 As Documents
invDocument2 = Form1.inv_App.Documents
For Each invDocument In oRefDocs
If Form1.BaseFilename(invDocument.FullDocumentName).ToUpper = TextAranan.Text Then invDocument2.Open(invDocument.FullDocumentName, True)
Sayac += 1
Next
But I need to make the part selected on the browser? I want to focus (highlight) on the part and reposition the browser tree?

I'm trying to make a surface cut on my part. The part is a round cylindrical shaped cap with a surface geometry going through the center. I want to make that surface geometry remove some of the cylindrical part by about half the wall thickness.
See the attachment of the picture "cap" for a picture with the surfaces I'm speaking about. The orange features are surfaces and the grey feature is just a solid cylinder that I want to cut. The vertical, cylindrical surface in orange is where I want the grey cylinder to be cut along the curved orange surface. Only on the grey area outside of the orange cylindrical surface is to be cut while leaving everything grey on the inside area of the cylindrical surface will remain.
The picture titled "ideal cap" is the look that I'm going for on the picture titled "cap" which I'm trying to perform this cut on. The picture titled "ideal cap" was made using Pro/E and I'm trying to mimic the same thing in Inventor. How I can do this?
