i am using inventor2012 and have a problem with frames;when i create a frame with Insert Frame, it places the frame as a part (Frame0001/ ISO 657-1 - L40x40x4-400) in browser, it is ok.
and then i use Patternt tool, it creates a part (Component Pattern/ Element:1/ Frame0001/ ISO L40x40x4 00000001:1) in browser. it is ok.but when i used Insert Frame to crate new frame, the second frame part places in Component Pattern/ Element:1/ Frame0001/ ISO 80x40x6 00000002:1
and same pattern setting is applied on new frame part too, but i do not want apply pattern (or not same pattern) on new frame. and all frames (patterned frames too) hold together by Component Pattern part. how can i place new frame separated with first frame.
I am trying to link a Excel spread sheet to an Inventor 2009 part. It worked great on Friday now it is not working. The only thing that changed was that there was a windos update. When it does work I am unable to update any of the parametes that are linked to Excel file as the update button has disappear.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have some parts with varies User Parameters that allow cusomization of part features. With numeric user paremeters we can check the export parameter box and then, in the description of the part we can refrence that parameter. For instance the description could be: =Width <Width>, Height <Height>, etc. Where it would desplay as Discription: width 22in, height 12".
We also have text User parameters. Is there a way to add these parameters to the description as well? They do not have the option of checking the export parameter box in the parameters table.
Is there any way to automatically fill in description in iProperties (.idw) from model description?

When I do the leader text on one of the sub-assys it will take the description from the individual part in the sub-assy. Is there a way I can make it put the assembly description rather than the part description?

I had a sketch in one of my views of a planned piece of equipment. I hatched the equipment to show where it would be placed on my shaded views. The part outlines behind the sketch were visible through the hatch. I turned the visibility off of the part lines once I was finished with the sketch, everything is OK.
Now that the proposed piece of equipment is no longer going to be used, I removed the sketch from the view, but my part lines are missing, making the view look a little odd. See below. One side of my filter (gold part) has the outlines visible, the other side shows up without the lines.
After removing visible lines, is there a way to turn them back on again??

I know about the pink lines, green lines, and black line, but I recieved a part from another person and it had red lines for the sketch, how, what did he do to get those? He doesn't know how he did it.

In the attached image I want to show the pull handle and towel bar through the glass in the door. The only way I know how to show this currently is to turn off the visibility on the glass.

Is there a way to have the lines in drawing views be the same as the part colors instead of black (like MDT used to do)? Not rendered, 2d lines.
Also, when exporting to .dwg part color lines & the parts as blocks would be great. Ok, maybe I'm asking too much.

Is there any way to hide construction lines in Part & Assembly sketches in the same way you can in a Drawing sketch?
I know you can change the line colour to the background colour but this makes the lines invisible in sketch as well.
Not being able to hide the construction is making some layouts pretty pointless since relevant detail is obscured by the construction lines. Grounding the geommetry and deleting the construcion lines isn't an option since the sketches are part of the design development and not fixed.
In assembly mode, how can I click on two lines in a part sketch and get there intersection point using VBA?
View 3 Replies View RelatedIn AutoCad in a drawing with multiple parts I use lines / rectangles to separate each part.
So the drawing gets clear.
How can this be done in Inventor?
With the lines connected to the border?

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhy can i use lines from a 3d sketch to constraint a part to a skeleton base part?
I have attached a example where i try to constraint the tube.ipt using 3D geometry lines of the part Layout_3d_sketch.ipt in the assembly teste.iam, but i'm unable to select any lines from that file.
Why can't i use this 3D sketch lines in a skeleton base part?
I know you can insert an Excel spread sheet into the general table and have that show up on the drawing, but it has limitations to it that Excel gives you. My question is there a way to bring the Excel spread sheet into the drawing that would give you Excel functionality?
View 9 Replies View Relatedwe are updating fron LDD 2004 to Civil 3D 2012 needles to say it a huge change. I've got my template almost done I'm just having one problem. With LDD any point that came in with a raw descripitoin not within the description key it would be placed in the current layer with point number, descripton and elevation. How do I make that happen with Civil3D do I have to change my default lable settings? When I import points with a raw description not within my description key it places the point on Layer 0 and only shows the node no point number.

This text was linked to the ipropertie 'Partnumber'.
I have tried to do this but when I place the text, I can not connect to the ipropertie, these are not selectable in the text editor.
how this works, possibly with iLogic?

Your drawings are only as good as the symbols that complete them...
Can we have a better way to create “text” in the Inventor part drawings?
I almost create “text” in every part drawing in different view. I have to create a sketch first, than create a text and dimension the text so I can lock the text in position, otherwise when you move the view and the text will stay in different location.
I had been used “Solid works” for long times. When I need to create a text, just click that view and create a text and the text will stay with that view, whatever you move that view and the text move together.
Is it possible to pull out the x,y,z coordinates to text file from a inventor part. I am aware about this that it maybe need some programming but what kind of programming Language is the best to use ? is it possible to use the build in programming Language called Ilogic? Or is it better to use some .net? At my work we use PDMS to do plant modelling and we want to use inventor for modelling the machines and doing the workshop drawings ect. And we want to be able to take the inventor part coordinates and transfer them to PDMS because it can model the machines just by coordinates taken from a text fil.

We have an idw package we use for Quality control. This idw has more than one sheet. Each sheet has a part placed on the sheet with dims.( DWF attached). Next we open DA inside of the file and run a report. (exported txt attached). I am trying to use ilogic the make the same report with a iLogic browser button pick. I have 2 codes (code examples on attached jpg) that i need to make into 1, or whatever works.

I'm using the "Part Number" parameter inside a block of text in my drawing, but when I export it to AutoCAD DXF 2010 format, the text in the exported file shows up as "<PART NUMBER>", instead of displaying the actual part number.
-Using Autodesk Inventor Professional 2012
Wouldn't be nice if you could use part parameters (description, part number, etc...) in the sketch mode text tool?
I'd like to emboss the actual part number on a part without having to retype the part number in manually.
is it possible to make a LISP program whcih write down my layer name and description as text or Mtext in the drawing, so it will look like:
A_Wall architecture wall
A_Column architecture column
something like that. Each text, which is written in the drawing should have the same layer like the layer name.
the closest i can get is this code below, which write the layer as text, but what missing is: i want to add the description behind the layer name:
(defun c:layerlegend (/ osm ortho clayer celtype cecolor start-point line-length text-height *error*)
(defun *error* (msg)
(setvar "osmode" osm)
(setvar "orthomode" ortho)
(setvar "clayer" clayer)
(setvar "celtype" celtype)
(setvar "cecolor" cecolor)
(princ msg)

I’m trying to get the embossed text on a nameplate (done in sketch on a part) to change with updating a custom property in iProperties. Right now I’m using iLogic so I can change the text in User Parameters and that updates the embossed text. So where I’m having an issue is the Export Parameters tab is grayed out so I can’t get it work with my custom properties.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI had wanted to find a way to engrave/emboss the part number on a part model and have it be parametrically tied to the part number iProperty. Since it doesn't appear that I can create a text box and insert the iProperty directly, here's what I did to work around this. (I setup my part templates to have this out of the box....)
1. Within, the IPT file, add a user text parameter called "PartNo" and set its initial value to any text value.
2. Create your sketch for your text to be engraved. Insert the User parameter you just created.
3. Create the engraving/embossing for your text.
4. Create the following iLogic rule:
' Requires a User Text Parameter called "PartNo" prior to running' Set the appropriate event trigger to tasteIf Parameter("PartNo") <> iProperties.Value("Project", "Part Number") ThenParameter("PartNo") = iProperties.Value("Project", "Part Number")InventorVb.DocumentUpdate()End If
5. I set this rule to fire using the "iProperty Change" event trigger. So if the iProperty is set or changed, your text will update. Obviously, you can set this to run with whatever trigger you like.
