AutoCAD Inventor :: Creating Cables With Fixed Length?
Jan 6, 2014
I am creating an assembly where I need to add a light probe that is length X from a sensor to an LED. I would like to create a cable modeling this transition to make sure it can be routed around other components. I can't seem to find how to lock the length for the cable from point A to point B, it only changes based on what points I add on its path.
The bug giving incorrect lenths of frames created on internal cutouts with fillets using merge hasnt been fixed in 2011 SP2 (64bit). Base part attached for testing.
If it is possible to set a fixed length to a "Hose" hanging from one point to another? So that when hang-off point's are adjusted (any direction) the hose act pursuant to the fixed length.
I have an OS plan with the 100 metres squares marked.I want the ruler to coincide with the known 100m length. Then I can mark on layers various lines of say 7m or 25m long. How can I set the ruler and guides to enable me to draw lines such as this.
I'm new in use of iLogic and tried to use it by myself (and internet). But I have some difficulties.
Here is the open point, I wold like to create an assemblies with different length (and also some different part inside).
So I made some iLogic rules to make a configuration of my .iam with length selection.
I made rules to show or hide parts with is linked to the proper length.
I made rules to switch from a positional representation to another one and do the same for level of details representation and for view representation.
All is good in my .iam.
My problem is comming now. When I would like to put my .iam in a .idw in several views (corresponding to different length), my views are the all the same. I can't see one length per view even if I select the proper representation, the proper position and the proper level of detail.
At the end, all this work is to have all views length to be able to make in one drawing all length block in autocad.
It is a while ago since I used Inventor, so i'm now just practising a bit to get the hang of it.
As a start a cable stayed bridge looked fun. So I made the towers and the roaddeck. But now comes the tricky part, and that are the cables themselves. When I started I just thought I could use the 3D sketsh feature. But as it turns out, that feature is not available in the Assembley environment. I could just make the cables as a Part and then insert them in the assembley, but that is to much work. As you can see from the pictures below the holes I made in the towers to accomodate the cables do not line up with the edge of the roaddeck on which I want to secure them. So the cables make to much angles for me to make the as a part. And besides that, I just think it could be done more easily.
Below you can see the images I made of the bridge so far. The first one is an overall image, the second one shows the tower with the holes (if the holes won't work, I can always make something else), and the third image shows the area on which the cables will be attached to the roaddeck.
Can this be done in the Assembley environment?
Note: I planned this to be a cable stayed bridge, not a suspension bridge. But tips to make this into a susension bridge are welcome as well.
I am creating an upper cabinet which has a fixed height but you can select different widths. What our firm does is also list the size of the cabinet. What I would like to do is make this font some sort of preset attribute and control it with the visibility states. I also want to control the font height by the scale of the drawing. my question is I if its possible and how? I've attached what I have thus far. The attribute is in teh top right corner and is justified as top right. The only way I can get this to work is if I manually adjust the font after its inserted into the drawing.
Why can I not constrain placed objects with three constraints? Anything I place constrains with one constraint then is virtually fixed (without being) and cannot even be moved to allow for further constraining.
I created a sketch on a 'fixed workplane' and extruded it. I would like to know if it is possible to move the workplane? I understand I can change the workplane if it is a 'plane by offset from plane'.
If moving a fixed workplane is possible, does the extruded features move along together?
How does Inventor "Remove fix constraints" so quickly? Can this be replicated in iLogic?
The way I've previously done this requires looping through the constraint collection and deleting one at a time which may take a few minutes on a complex sketch, but when Inventor deletes fixed constraints throught the menu option it does it in a few seconds on the same sketch so Inventor must be able to select them all at once and delete them all at once. Is there a way to do this through the API or iLogic?
I'm sure this has been asked many times but none of the queries I used brought up a similar question. My issue is that I recently spent a lot of time annotating a detail view with leaders attached to geometry, leaders not attached to geometry, and sketches constrained to geometry projected from the view.
I made some modifications to the model which didn't re-locate any of the components that I'd annotated, but somehow the detail view got shifted, and all of my leaders are pointing to the wrong place and the parts of my sketch that weren't constrained to geometry are in the wrong place as well. Some of the leaders seem to have held to their posts better than others, but for the most part my annotations are worthless and will need to be re-done.
I have to find the minimum inside diameter for a conduit which will hold several cables of similar diameter (0.258"). The number of cables per conduit will be 10, 16 and 20.
I have played around with the program but I can't figure out a way to make this work efficiently. I am trying to account for the fact that different numbers of cables will (or won't) cluster so evenly or uniformly. That is, with different quantities of cables, there will be some room for the cables to orient unevenly to fill the available spaces.
I have included a .bmp file with 10 and 19 cables in the cluster.
Is it possible to change the length of a line based on the length of an attribute?
I'd like to make the line a MINIMUM length of X" (I haven't decided how long yet--but know I'll need a minimum). But then after the user fills in the attribute, I'd like the length of the line to change to the length of the attribute plus a small amount (again, I haven't decided yet how much extra).
I was wondering if there is a way with DB's to have a line "follow" or "grow" with the content/value length of an attribute. Maybe some method of linking the attribute width to length of the line? Essentially, it would work just like turning on the underline setting when typing in mtext editor (or any program with an underline option for that matter), expect that the line could be placed anywhere, and would not have to reside directly below the text.
With using superelevation wizard in Civil 3d 2012, changing the lane width is not affecting the resulted values of transion length and run-off length, Is that correct ? ( as civil is using standerd AASHTO tables which assume that lane width typically is 3.6m )
Also, There is only 2 tables for 2-lanes and 4-lanes roadway, Is it for total road width or for one directon only, and what about different no. of lanes ?
I am creating a block with attributes for a standard job. I have (4) total attributes in this block (for example: panel type, qty, length in imperial, length in mertic)
I would like my length in metric attribute to automatically populate based on the input from length in imperial.
I'm modeling cables running through a series of cable clamps. I'm working in an assembly with my structure as one part, clamps as seperate parts, and cables as separate parts. I modeled the clamps first and am using them to create my 3d spline to run the sweep. The clamps have moved several times and each time, the sweeps (cables) do not update to follow the new clamping path. I have tried multiple ways of solving this.
I've tried to redo the splines using "Include Geometry" and running the spline through the centers of the clamps. I've also deleted the constraints (which for some reason turn into fixed) and reapplied them as coincident constraints. However, once I setup these coincidences, they always change back to fixed.
In a last ditch method, I've created 2d sketches at EVERY clamping location (yes that's alot of sketches, time and effort) and projected the circular geometry to get a center point. This has seemed to work, but is so much work, there's no way we could use it regularly.
we are doing a customization of part in inventor , where we have done fork plate with constraints in model and extruding it with inputs from excel sheet. the plate size is getting changed as per the input given excel sheet.
but during the 2d drawing generation, if i take bom - the length and width columns are not coming.
Tried to remove some cables from an image using Russel Brown's video making use of the pen tool/path and the spot healing brush with content aware. I'm pretty sure I followed his tutorial exactly but it did not work satisfactorily. Are there any other tweaks I should be using to remove these cables and replace them with the background details?
I'm making a tube that is connected on another tube. I did this by skeleton modeling, for my tube extrusion i used Extrude To surface.
Is there any way to get the length of that extrude?
I know its possible to get the sweep length like this. Is there a way to get the extrude length as well?
'Set a reference to the active part document
Dim oDoc As PartDocument oDoc = ThisApplication.ActiveDocument Dim oDef As PartComponentDefinition oDef = oDoc.ComponentDefinition Dim opath As Path opath = oDef.Features.SweepFeatures.Item("TheSweep").Path Dim TotalLength As Double TotalLength = 0
I am trying to dimension a line that is not parallel to either they x or y axis. When i try to dimension the line it will only let me dimension the vertical or horizontal component and not the diagonal length. I have included a picture of what I am referring to.
I have a problem with file path length BOM. I need to show in BOM only the last folder name, not the whole length of file location. At the moment i´m doing it manually and it takes lot of time to look and find each file location.
