What I'm trying to accomplish is a way to create a kit (assembly of loose parts) that will be used in more than one product model. Each top level assembly (product model) will require the parts to be constrained in different locations but all of the components in the kit will remain the same.
Is the iAssembly tool the right tool to use for this?
the easiest way to create a vector image of a model in inventor? I also have other Autodesk tools at my disposai (Product Design Suite).
We have creating a catalogue of company parts, and they require nice clean crisp images for the brochure. They only seem to be able to create raster images.
I could not get the code to work for me, and I am not a programmer or pretend to be. I need to take a model and create a dwg with ilogic. It only needs to be one flat pattern view and one isometric view.
I also need it to have center marks for all the holes and I need to add certain dimensions.
I'd like to create pdf's with the 3D model embedded. This could then be viewed, rotated, and Zoomed.
Tetra4D is the software to do this as Adobe X no longer supports it.

My employer has a requirement that, in certain situations, only data without internal features/details can be supplied to customers.In this case, we only want the customer to be able to view the assembly & not see the internal features of individual parts.
I am trying to create a Treeview of Model tree which displays parts assembly...etc My code is working well and i am able to get the tree view, but the problem is how can i count the quantity of parts/assemblies and display as consolidated. For instance this below snapshot shows my treeview.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have installed Design suite prem. 2014 previously. Kept 2013 to reference until not needed. Stupid files kept defaulting to 2013 so i removed it. Lost all file associations to all autodesk products still installed (dsp 2014 ). Decided to repair. Decided to remove it. Used the autodesk uninstall tool.
Now i get the titled error upon install. It only installs about 1/4 of the software i select and none of the shared files.
I've installed Product Design Suite Ultimate 2013, however I put the wrong product key in on the install, so my serial number is invalid. is there anyway of changing the product key (registry?) after isntall without having to reinstall
View 1 Replies View RelatedThought I might upgrade my PS to CC under the discount for existing owners scheme However, it won't accept that I have a suitible product despite having CS5 on my system. It is not on my products list. Six others are just not my PS products.
Put in serial number - says it is already registered - I know that - just not associated with me I guess. Deactived PS and tried again - same.
For some reason I cannot unfold sheet metal product on attached file. Where have I made a mistake? I used extruding, also sheet metal thickness from rule has been set to 2mm. Rest are default values.

View 6 Replies View RelatedMy problem today is that I made a Model of a Part of a ship using surfaces rather than solids because the engineer thought it would be easier to bring into ANSYS program for analysis but he is now having a problem with it and I am looking into converting my current model to solid. I can do it but the method I thought of using is quite long winded and we are working to a tight deadline.
1.open up the surface part
2.use "Offset/Thicken"
3.any clashes between parts make a sketch and cut away.
the problem is the amount of plates I have and the time it takes to sort them out.

Ideally we would like to have a solid model, but I'm running out of time to get this done and the surface model we have would be good enough for our purposes IF I can get the yellow surface tangent lines to turn off or change their color to black.

I've recently been given a *.dwg file that seems to contain a 3D model composed of blocks. I'm a long-time SolidWorks user, and in my parlance, what I've got is an assembly composed of individual parts.
I need to create a 2D version of each 3D part. Currently, my process isCut & paste 3D component into new document.
Select all and perform 'flatten,' removing hidden lines.
Select all and explode.
Manually remove a zillion duplicate and unnecessary line segments. Manually fix radiused / filleted corners, which have become a bunch of little straight line segments. Draw a polyline around the whole part. Run 'boundary' to create a new polyline approximating the original shape.
Clearly, this is not very efficient - nor does it produce an exact 2D duplicate of the face of the 3D part; what I get is a close approximation. I don't use AutoCAD to do 3D work, but I assume that, much like SolidWorks, a 2D sketch is created first and then extruded into the 3D objects.
This, in turn, leads me to believe that there ought to be a way to extract that 2D sketch intact for use elsewhere. How should I go about doing this?

What I want to show is the part where the lines are joint. There is a lot of angle involved, the standard polygon angle and the dihedral angle.
What I want to show is the dihedral angle, around the joint but no lines are actually parallel to any of the axis. Therefore, how to explain properly this part to layman (contractor, client, etc).
