Illustrator :: Custom Predefined Document Sizes?
Oct 14, 2012Is it possible to create AND save predefined document sizes instead of the standard US-letter, US-legal, A4, A3…? And DELETE these for video and screen sizes, ect., which I don`t need? I need my own standard sizes (print) for a daily working basis like business cards -> 85x55, postcard ->... A4). So that I don`t have to type the measures again and again manually within a new document or existing artwork. I normally combine all printproduct (drawingareas) for a client in ONE AI file.

Jan 6, 2012I have a program that create a bunch of new custom Iprop in each part of an assembly.
How can I show all those new properties when I open the BOM in the assembly file. Manually I can add a custom column but that is time consuming. Is there a way I can create a macro that will add those custom column in the BOM view?

Aug 8, 2012I would like to add a custom title block template that I created to my Inventor open new drawing dialoge box. I know of the regular way to accomplish this by adding the custom title block to the templates folder in the Inventor folder on my C drive but what I would like to do is somehow link the template to my Inventor templates folder while keeping it in it's current location so that others and myself have access to the latest version of it due to the fact that it is a working document and will be updated periodically.

May 7, 2013How can I add a custom layer for ballooning changes on inventor drawings while the parts are being developed. The changes need to be tracked. After the parts are released the ballooning is removed from the drawing and the basic revsions take over after that. It would be great to be able to do the ballooning of the changes with a specific line that is placed on this layer. Is there a way to accomplish this?

Jan 24, 2013I added a new "Standard" and "Fastener Type" to the Clearance.xls file for my Inventor 2013. This was done in an effort to create a standard set of dowel hole sizes in our design department. So far it is working, however I have a few improvements I need implementing.
Changing the "Fit" name from "Close/Normal/Loose" to "Press/Nominal/Slip" to make it more user friendly in the hole wizard.DeterminE how to create a custom hole callout in .idw drawings for this new hole type. I would like to use the Hole Callout feature and have it automatically place our specific hole information/text for the machine shop to create the hole.
Ex..
Drill and ream for 1/4" Dowel hole
Press Fit

I have attached the clearance.xls file we modified to get this new fastener type to show up in our hole wizard.
AutoCAD Inventor :: 2013 Appearances - Adding New Colors In Custom Library
Jan 8, 2013First, I have not grasped the extent yet of how the new appearance library works.. we don't get crazy with colors, reflections etc.. but we do have a handful of colors that we use on the machines we use.. so instead of using the default appearance library, i made a new appearance library. All this went well, but i periodically as i need them will add colors to it.. problem is that i'm obviously doing something wrong, because my colors don't always stay in there after i restart Inventor.. and yesterday, i can't seem to keep any of the colors i setup in there to stay.. all i want to do is copy specific colors from inventors appearance library.. drag them into mine, rename them, maybe tweak the color, and then they be there for next time.. why won't they stay?
The edit pencil will come up on my library.. i've done the release edit after i'm done.. everything works in this inventor session, but if i turn inventor off and back on again.. they are gone.. only thing i have thought of remaining is that 3 users on our network share the same design styles location so we all our using same stuff, so is the file inventor uses in design styles to save to read only or something, but i read that appearances aren't saved in design styles.. How to do this and the colors stay and populate through all the existing stuff.. I have got the colors to lock into my template ipt in the doc appearances.. and i've done the save to custom library thing.. works until i restart inventor..

Jun 24, 2012I am looking for broad principles as opposed to blow by blow information. I am planning to use inventor for the design of model aircraft. My problem at present is a lack of understanding of the possible ways in which the following can be achieved.
The sides of the fuselage are sheet material ( balsa or ply or a combination ) which need to be available in a 2D format so they can be converted into DXF files that can then be sent to my laser cutting machine.
I also need to model the fuselage as a solids model in inventor. How does on go about modelling something like this? The curvature is going to be single as opposed to double.
Ideally I woul like a command that enables me to take a 2D sketch ( a copy of which is converted to DXF ) and to bend it around formers to form the fuselage shape. That would be similar to the process that is used in the actual construction but I dont think that there is one as yet.

Aug 2, 2013Im working on a program that checks out syncronizes some data with our erp system and then checkes in the files again to vault. all works fine but in vault all links to other files are gone? when i checkin the files from inventor manuel then the links are ok in vault. therefore i wonder if it is possible to run the vault checkin dialog "hidden" and just pass in some predifined options and checkin to vault.

Mar 30, 2012On the main sheet of my drawing I have the overall Parts List. Shows almost all parts except for the few that we don't want to list. On the second sheet I inserted a Parts List to show only parts that are shown in a detail on that page, made the rest non-visible.
On the main sheet there is an item (#13) that has a QTY of 3. Two of those Three are optional parts. What I'm trying to do is insert a custom part into the Parts List, give it an item number of 13A and put in the description "OPTIONAL", then do an Override in the balloon to show 13A.
I get it in the Parts List, Apply it, close it, save the drawing. Looking at the Parts List, item #13A is there, but item #14 is gone. I go back into the Parts List and 13A is there and there's a blue box around the item # and the description. I uncheck Static Value and number 14 shows up (item # and the description).
Then I go over to sheet two, open that Parts List and it lists 13A at the bottom with all the info I added in sheet one and it's non-visible. Go back to sheet one, open the Parts List and there is no 13A to be found.

I'm using VB.NET but can work with C++ examples as well. Do I have to inherit from a DBObject class and override or is it possible to declare my own custom classes and somehow register them to DBObject?

Jul 18, 2013I'm tasked with setting up a new dwt file to be used along with the Sheet Set Manager.
I've got as far as adding in my own custom properties at both the Sheet Set level (things like project name, site name, etc.), and at the Sheet level (drawing title).
But more specifically, at the Sheet Level, I want to be able to facilitate having a multi-line drawing title. Things start to get a little cloudy.
In order to be able to control where the line breaks are, I've simply created 5 fields (3 for an odd number of lines, 2 for even), and I want to set their Default Value so they don't display anything, i.e. a space or blank of some kind, instead of the four dots. So when I want to add the title I go to the Sheet properties and change the value.
I thought it'd be as simple as adding the ASCII code for a space (U+00A0) into the Default Value, but that seems to display the text U+00A0 instead of the space.

Feb 21, 2013When inserting a content center part for which we have to choose a material, we would like to have a custom material as a default (material with name: "No material selected"). So when selecting no material for this part (for example when the user forgets to select a specific material), the default material (in this case material "No material selected") will be active. In this way, we can see in one view across the BOM which parts have no material assigned yet.
How can this be achieved in the content center (editor)?

May 16, 2013When using Inventor with Vault, we have a problem when categorizing custom content center parts in Vault. In short, custom content center parts are incorrectly categorized as "Content Center" and automatically released - as there is no property that we can use to identify these files.

Right now, I'd like to draw something in another app, and plunk it onto a wall in my project file.
I am familiarizing myself with Sketchbook Designer, and would like to draw something there, and drop it as a 2-D into my project. I have this sinking feeling that I might be SOL.
Is there any way to create a component in Sketchbook (or any other ADesk app), and export it as a file that can be brought into Revit as a family component? If not, how am I supposed to create custom components that are far removed from what's available in system families? The item I want to create has no similarity to anything available in Revit Families (but maybe it doesn't have to even remotely resemble anything in available system families to be created?).
