AutoCAD Inventor :: Use Of Environment Variable To Point To Project Folder?

Feb 6, 2012

Sys Config:

Win7Pro, SP1, x64

Inventor 2011, SP1, no Vault available

I am trying to use a Windows environment variable to point to my root directory where the projects are stored. When I type %MYINVPROJECTROOT%/newproject/... into the path of a new project, it seems Inventor is unable to resolve the path.

We use SVN to collaborate, hence, instead of forcing everybody to the same folder structure, we keep everything in SVN and people just need to set an env var to point to the respective folders where they checked out their working copy. This is especially useful when working with branches, etc.  All other engineering tools seem fine with this (MATLAB, Labview, Maple, ...) only Inventor seems to fall behind.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Get Environment Variable To Run External ILogic Rule

Sep 17, 2012

I tried to read an environment with iLogic and to combine it with an external rule name and to pass the whole path over to iLogicVB.RunExternalRule.

StrPath = Environment.GetEnvironmentVariable("ILOGIC_DIR")ilogic_rule = "IPT__01_New_Document_EXT.iLogicVb"rule = StrPath & ilogic_rule'MessageBox.Show(rule, "iLogic Rule to execute")iLogicVb.RunExternalRule(rule)

The message box shows the correct path, but I allways receive a error massage:

'GetEnvironmentVariable' is not a member of 'Inventor.Environment'

AutoCAD Inventor :: Constraining A Part To A Sketch Point In The Assembly Environment

Aug 7, 2012

Unfortunately, it's chock full of proprietary customer data, so I can't share the parts or the assembly.  But I can pretty well explain what needs to happen, and I've attached a JPG that shows a bit of what I'm doing.

I need to design a bracket to hold an RPM sensor at a certain gap to a spiral bevel gear.  I've got a huge assembly model (non-Inventor) from the customer, as well as the model for the sensor.  My plan is to start a master IAM, insert the customer assembly, insert the sensor and constrain him, and draw the various hardware I need around the sensor.

So I start by making a work plane that matches the bevel angle and is in a location so the end of my sensor will be flush to that plane.  Create a sketch on that plane, then project 2 relevant axes to create the appropriate "origin" from which my location will be based.  Place a point on one line, at a certain radial distance and constrain my point.

So now I've got a point and a plane that are where I want my sensing face and my centerline axis to be.  What now?  I was thinking that I'd create a work axis "normal to plane through a point", but this workflow isn't available in the assembly environment.  I can't constrain a solid to a sketch point, so I really don't know what to do at this point in order to put the part where I need it.

AutoCAD LT :: Reset User-created Environment Variable To Be Empty?

May 31, 2012

I have created an environment variable called "SUFFIX", and assigned it the value "PSI", using the following command sequence:

setenv<enter>SUFFIX<enter>PSI<enter>

It works fine for what I'm doing (a toolbar button macro using DIESEL in AutoCAD LT 2011), but now I want to set the variable SUFFIX to be empty: not a space, not anything at all. I can't figure out a keyboard input that will do that.

P.S. Perhaps there is an AutoCAD variable that consists of a null string? If so, I could "$M=" to get that null value and place it in SUFFIX.

AutoCAD Inventor :: 2012 - Cannot Create Project Folder

Feb 3, 2012

Having issues on a laptop with Inventor 2012. Inventor will let the user create a new project folder on the C drive but not on their personal network drive. The user does have all needed permissions to use their network space, but Inventor is not allowing a project folder to be created on on the networked drive.

We have desktops on which project folders can be successfully created on the network drive. Only the laptop seems to be affected by the issue.

Am I missing a simple check box somewhere in Inventor?

Not sure if it's a bug or not but when removing a whole project the "random" folder(s) are still in the Media Storage folder. Everything connected to the project(s) are gone but not the random folder smoke creates when creating project files. Any specific reason their still in the Media Storage folder?

Im a bit of a neat-freak... After removing a whole project, is it safe to remove all the empty folders? Or would that cause problems for other projects?

AutoCAD Visual LISP / AutoLISP :: Set Variable Depending On Location Folder (find Directory)

Sep 20, 2012

We have user folders on severall servers, now I want the user menu's to be stored on the network so their home folder depends on what server it's located on. I tried using the vl-file-directory-p command but it doesn't seem to work.

Even worse, as soon as the userfolder is found I want to let the script check for a file called user.cuix in the Acad folder and if it doesn't excists copy it from another location to that folder (if possible).

This is what I got so far:

(setq UserName (getvar "loginname"))
(setq RootZW "\\users\zw\")
(setq RootVL "\\users\vl\")
(setq Company "\\CADConf\ACAD13\")

[Code] ..........

Next to this we have 4 other options as well, but to keep it short I left it at the first 2.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Best Way To Archive And Move / Rename A Project Folder

Jan 3, 2013

the best way to archive and move/rename a project folder? As the new CAD manager for my firm I am going to restructure our entire server as the current structure is very unorganized and inefficient. Projects date back as far as the 90's and I would like to move them all into an archive folder but also have them still be working files as far as XREF's are concerned. None of the drawings have XREF's that utilize the relative file location feature so when I do move a folder, all of the XREF's must then be updated. This is not an option because I have at least 500 projects that will be moved which would be far too time consuming.
