I´m drawing a component which does not fit within the drawing sheet. How can I reduce its space on the sheet, while keeping the dimension equal?? I know I can use a Break, but I really can't suceed into using it.
View 9 RepliesIn the Inventor 2012 drawing environment when multiple objects were present I would pause the curser and use the wheel on the mouse to select the object and click the green check mark to dimension a part.
In Inventor 2013 the objects will scroll using the wheel but the green check mark don't show up. How can I select the correct object I want to dimension to?Has the behavior of the select other function changed in Invnetor 2013 or is this a bug?

I'd like to add a sketch to my drawing - a sketch that is independent of any other views. Is it possible to make this sketch have a scale associated with it instead of being 1:1?
Right now I am just overriding all of my dimensions.
I was giving a hand drawn wiring diagram (original.jpg) and it is a rats nest!!
I was asked to re-draw this and put it on our drawing template.
I have the plugs and terminal blocks drawn up and now I am about to attempt to add in the wires, but the sketch is so filled with dimension lines and values, it is going to be a task to try and make sure every line I draw is correct. This would be much easier to do if the dimensions could be turned off as the wires I am drawing will not be constrained.
I don't think there is layers options inside a sketch mode, or a if i start a new sketch I don't think I can project that sketch to the new one?
The only other options I can think of was to delete all dimensions and apply FIX constraint to everything! or
I guess I could have modeled the plugs and blocks in position and added them to the drawing, projected the geometry to a new sketch and added in my wires??
There must be someway to toggle the dimensions??

does Inventor offers any option to break geometry lines in drawing behind the text (e.g. notes and dimensions)? I tried this in IV 2009 as well as in IV 2011, but the result is the same in both version, shown on first image. The text is sometimes difficult to read when it is crossed with geometry lines.

I have built a model which uses iLogic to control virtually everything, however the large variations in the length of the product mean that there are some interesting results when it comes to the broken drawing views updating.
it would be nice to locate the break at the absolute center of the view and then size it as a percentage of the view size along one axis or perhaps according to some other length based rule.

I use the same sketch to create a break out view in one type of drawing. I may be blind, but I can't seem to find a way to save that sketch and reuse it when I want to create a break out view.

Changing te macro for break ^C^C_break to the macro for break at point ^C^C_break \_f @ doesn't work.
To do it manualy at the command prompt takes to much keyboard entries and mouse clicking.
I have an assembly which is made with a sub assembly. The sub assembly has iLogic code that both resizes it's parts and suppresses parts that arn't needed after a change in length.

My problem is that I want to rotate the part so that a face that was once along the XZ plane will now be in the XY plane. Is there anyway to rotate it like this? I would like to do this so that when I bring it into Mastercam, I don't have to rotate it each time.

I am trying to use a Windows environment variable to point to my root directory where the projects are stored. When I type %MYINVPROJECTROOT%/newproject/... into the path of a new project, it seems Inventor is unable to resolve the path.
We use SVN to collaborate, hence, instead of forcing everybody to the same folder structure, we keep everything in SVN and people just need to set an env var to point to the respective folders where they checked out their working copy. This is especially useful when working with branches, etc. All other engineering tools seem fine with this (MATLAB, Labview, Maple, ...) only Inventor seems to fall behind.
Where can I find sheet metal.ipt template for Inventor LT 2012 ?
I seem to be failing to get "off the ground" here ... The "Sheet Metal" tab at top will not appear. Also, the "sheet metal.ipt" template is not in my files. Should I do a complete deinstall/reinstall? This is my first (or should I say, zeroth?) attempt at sheet metal, so I seem to be crawling on all 4's.
I tried to read an environment with iLogic and to combine it with an external rule name and to pass the whole path over to iLogicVB.RunExternalRule.

Why is access to the Content Center only available in the Assembly Environment?
Surely I can't be the only one that could benefit from access to the library when creating a single tube or beam or angle bracket etc..in the part environment.
Where is the setting to control the size of dims in the IPT sketch environment. The arrow sizes are OK, but the dims are so small they are unreadable to the point of having to double click on the dim to get the actual value.

I think that something is not the way it is suppose to be at my ribbon I have a Inventor Studio icon but by defaults is not active (it's grayed out) so in order to turn it on I have to go to add ins and turn Inventor Studio off and than on again and in that way I am able to activate the Inventor Studio button but after that all the buttons in the Rendering Studio tab are inactive so I cannot use them. And I cannot figure out where is the problem. Is it because I am using the student version of the software and it has some kind of limitations on the rendering engine, or it is some kind of malfunctioning of my installation. Everything else is working normally I can modell I can do a rey tracing viewport renders but I cannot run the studio environment interface.
View 5 Replies View RelatedWhen I create a new sketch on any given view and utilize the 'Project Geometry' command, not all geometry will project onto the sketch. It seems random; I've tried multiple times using different orders in which to choose the geometry. Sometimes certain geometry will project, sometimes not.

Possible to run all simulations in "stress analysis environment" by just one click?
I have a large model with three different loadcases (simulations). Each loadcase takes approx. 2-3 hours to calculate and I would like to run all of these overnight, but it does not seem to be possible.
Is there a way to switch off the animation when creating joints in the assembly environment.
View 2 Replies View RelatedUnfortunately, it's chock full of proprietary customer data, so I can't share the parts or the assembly. But I can pretty well explain what needs to happen, and I've attached a JPG that shows a bit of what I'm doing.
I need to design a bracket to hold an RPM sensor at a certain gap to a spiral bevel gear. I've got a huge assembly model (non-Inventor) from the customer, as well as the model for the sensor. My plan is to start a master IAM, insert the customer assembly, insert the sensor and constrain him, and draw the various hardware I need around the sensor.
So I start by making a work plane that matches the bevel angle and is in a location so the end of my sensor will be flush to that plane. Create a sketch on that plane, then project 2 relevant axes to create the appropriate "origin" from which my location will be based. Place a point on one line, at a certain radial distance and constrain my point.
So now I've got a point and a plane that are where I want my sensing face and my centerline axis to be. What now? I was thinking that I'd create a work axis "normal to plane through a point", but this workflow isn't available in the assembly environment. I can't constrain a solid to a sketch point, so I really don't know what to do at this point in order to put the part where I need it.
When I try to place this ipart, I get an error saying "The server returned the following information: This file is not found on any server in the replicated environment". This child part is already in vault. I tried to delete the child from Vault and I thought that I would just re-generate it. But, when I try to delete the file from Vault, I am given a restriction, but no explanation.
What can I do to get this back in sync with vault?
This is using Vault 2010.
I am looking for a way to create an external rule that will allow me to turn off the visibility of bolt generator items in the model while I am looking at the drawing. Bolts may be buried several subassemblies (4 - 6) deep.
