I am using the Student version of Autodesk inventor 2013.I was able to use the simulation, stress analysis features for a period of 10 days from the day of installation but its not working now.I have tried reinstallation also. I am using a registered version only.
View 2 RepliesWhen I create a new sketch on any given view and utilize the 'Project Geometry' command, not all geometry will project onto the sketch. It seems random; I've tried multiple times using different orders in which to choose the geometry. Sometimes certain geometry will project, sometimes not.

I am having an issue with the "select sketch features" selection filter. Specifically, it does not seem to work within the edit-in-place environment. If I am sketching on a part that has been opened discretely, selection functions normally. However, if I am editing within an assembly and I attempt to work in a sketch, face selection takes priority over selecting dimensions or sketch features despite the sketch features filter being active. I have not always had this problem, and it began approximately a month ago. I can't think of anything I might have changed to cause this, but I'm wondering if there's an option somewhere that I accidentally toggled.

Is there any way to set features to be invisible when create sketch after those 3D features so as to make the sketch more easy to see?
View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen working in Inventor within a Vault environment, you have a check box on the "Check In" dialogue box for "Close files and delete working copies" that once selected, it stays selected until the user unchecks the box.

Not so when working with AutoCAD....why?
Why is it that every time a user checks a file into Vault from ACAD, they have to check that box?
There has got to be a seting somewhere that this check box stays selected. Why isn't this a default? How to "lock" that down?
I installed 2012 a couple of months ago and have been working with it just fine. Recently, I cleaned up my computer and uninstalled earlier versions (2009,2010,2011) . Now, I am getting errors such as:
- error initializing sheet set manager
-etransmit not working
When opening an assembly document via the API (inventorApplication.Documents.Open("path-to-document")), the browser pane and ribbon look like no document has been opened, even though the active environment (inventorApplication.UserInterfaceManager.ActiveEnvironment.DisplayName) is "Assembly".

My problem is that I want to rotate the part so that a face that was once along the XZ plane will now be in the XY plane. Is there anyway to rotate it like this? I would like to do this so that when I bring it into Mastercam, I don't have to rotate it each time.

I am trying to use a Windows environment variable to point to my root directory where the projects are stored. When I type %MYINVPROJECTROOT%/newproject/... into the path of a new project, it seems Inventor is unable to resolve the path.
We use SVN to collaborate, hence, instead of forcing everybody to the same folder structure, we keep everything in SVN and people just need to set an env var to point to the respective folders where they checked out their working copy. This is especially useful when working with branches, etc. All other engineering tools seem fine with this (MATLAB, Labview, Maple, ...) only Inventor seems to fall behind.
In the Inventor 2012 drawing environment when multiple objects were present I would pause the curser and use the wheel on the mouse to select the object and click the green check mark to dimension a part.
In Inventor 2013 the objects will scroll using the wheel but the green check mark don't show up. How can I select the correct object I want to dimension to?Has the behavior of the select other function changed in Invnetor 2013 or is this a bug?

Where can I find sheet metal.ipt template for Inventor LT 2012 ?
I seem to be failing to get "off the ground" here ... The "Sheet Metal" tab at top will not appear. Also, the "sheet metal.ipt" template is not in my files. Should I do a complete deinstall/reinstall? This is my first (or should I say, zeroth?) attempt at sheet metal, so I seem to be crawling on all 4's.
I tried to read an environment with iLogic and to combine it with an external rule name and to pass the whole path over to iLogicVB.RunExternalRule.

Why is access to the Content Center only available in the Assembly Environment?

Where is the setting to control the size of dims in the IPT sketch environment. The arrow sizes are OK, but the dims are so small they are unreadable to the point of having to double click on the dim to get the actual value.

I think that something is not the way it is suppose to be at my ribbon I have a Inventor Studio icon but by defaults is not active (it's grayed out) so in order to turn it on I have to go to add ins and turn Inventor Studio off and than on again and in that way I am able to activate the Inventor Studio button but after that all the buttons in the Rendering Studio tab are inactive so I cannot use them. And I cannot figure out where is the problem. Is it because I am using the student version of the software and it has some kind of limitations on the rendering engine, or it is some kind of malfunctioning of my installation. Everything else is working normally I can modell I can do a rey tracing viewport renders but I cannot run the studio environment interface.

I have a large model with three different loadcases (simulations). Each loadcase takes approx. 2-3 hours to calculate and I would like to run all of these overnight, but it does not seem to be possible.

View 2 Replies View RelatedUnfortunately, it's chock full of proprietary customer data, so I can't share the parts or the assembly. But I can pretty well explain what needs to happen, and I've attached a JPG that shows a bit of what I'm doing.
I need to design a bracket to hold an RPM sensor at a certain gap to a spiral bevel gear. I've got a huge assembly model (non-Inventor) from the customer, as well as the model for the sensor. My plan is to start a master IAM, insert the customer assembly, insert the sensor and constrain him, and draw the various hardware I need around the sensor.
So I start by making a work plane that matches the bevel angle and is in a location so the end of my sensor will be flush to that plane. Create a sketch on that plane, then project 2 relevant axes to create the appropriate "origin" from which my location will be based. Place a point on one line, at a certain radial distance and constrain my point.
So now I've got a point and a plane that are where I want my sensing face and my centerline axis to be. What now? I was thinking that I'd create a work axis "normal to plane through a point", but this workflow isn't available in the assembly environment. I can't constrain a solid to a sketch point, so I really don't know what to do at this point in order to put the part where I need it.
When I try to place this ipart, I get an error saying "The server returned the following information: This file is not found on any server in the replicated environment". This child part is already in vault. I tried to delete the child from Vault and I thought that I would just re-generate it. But, when I try to delete the file from Vault, I am given a restriction, but no explanation.
What can I do to get this back in sync with vault?
This is using Vault 2010.
I am looking for a way to create an external rule that will allow me to turn off the visibility of bolt generator items in the model while I am looking at the drawing. Bolts may be buried several subassemblies (4 - 6) deep.
