I'd like to create a filedialog that points to the IntitialDirectory property location. Not the current project.
It doesn't look like the filedialog object uses the InitialDirectory property at all.
I need (in VBA makro) save file to given folder.I want to do it with FileDialog object but I can't set folder in dialog windows with InitialDirectory method. There is always last used folder in dialog window. Why InitialDirectory doesn't work?

Age old question; Title Block Creation.
I took an existing title block out of another document and pasted it into my 'standard.idw' file, modified it, made it the default title block and it looks pretty good. Problem is, having saved the 'standard.idw' file it saved it under a project header and now everytime I open said new drawing I get the error that it is not part of my existing project. Obviously.
Is there a way to create this file, with my new title block and not get this error, supress or have it projectless?
Also, with that in mind my other problem, which I am sure is related, is that I put an image in my title block, which gives me e error that my picture is not located in the current project. Currently I bypass that one by hitting skip and it still retains my image, which is fine.
These two things together are slight annoying but I can live with it until I deduce a way to kill these errors.

I am trying to use a Windows environment variable to point to my root directory where the projects are stored. When I type %MYINVPROJECTROOT%/newproject/... into the path of a new project, it seems Inventor is unable to resolve the path.
We use SVN to collaborate, hence, instead of forcing everybody to the same folder structure, we keep everything in SVN and people just need to set an env var to point to the respective folders where they checked out their working copy. This is especially useful when working with branches, etc. All other engineering tools seem fine with this (MATLAB, Labview, Maple, ...) only Inventor seems to fall behind.
Is that possible to get the current Project number and Drawing by using some vba code?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen using the Associate Project to Current Drawing or Associate Project to Multiple Drawings command(s) where does this association data get stored? When using the Multiple Drawings option I do not see the save time/date being modified on the individual DWG's.
I also do not note any file being modified under the shortcut working folder which would contain associated drawing names. How does C3D "know" what project a file is associated with?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been trying to find the best/most efficient way to make a pavement grade plan for my current project. The only two ways that I know of are:
1) Home Tab->points->Create Points-Alignments->Measure Alignment then select my mainline alignment, enter a profile, enter an offset to create the points. Then assigned elevations of the points to my "pavement" surface.
2) Make lines perpendicular to your alignment (I used sample lines, exploded them to a block reference)->Make a feature line and snap at each 25' segment->Assigned elevations of the feature line to my "pavement" surface->used custom line and curve labels to label start segment z value.
My issue with option 1) is on my project there are multiple curves and I don't know of anyway that I can have the labels follow my alignment. I think the way the alignment labels work is if I would edit the label I would have to manually edit the angle and with multiple curves I don't think this would work the best.
My issue with option 2) is my project is roughly 1.75 miles long with 8 lanes and 12' shoulders, I would have to make roughly 4000 elevation points on my feature lines.
I have a lot of project files to migrate from INVENTOR 2012 to 2013. So I created an VB.NET application to get and check out all project files from my VAULT, change the different paths and check in the files in the vault. However, I need to include the new material library in each project files.
I found that we could change almost everything, but not include material library.
I have to set up a project in Navigator so we can get started on it but I will have to go back and change the project number when we get it.
My question is how do I change the project no so that it re paths everything and reorganizes itself numerically in Windows Explorer...or should I just create a new project in Navigator and copy the files I need into the new project?
I have installed Inventor 2013 on a machine just so that I can use this machine to migrate my files using the Autodesk Task Scheduler. I started the TS, then Create Task>Migrate Files task. I selected my "Vault" project and get a message that says "Vault Projects not supported".
I noticed that in the Migrate Files dialog, there is not a box at the top that says "Migrate from Vault".
This is installed on "Windows Server Standard x64" OS.
I tried a repair install and Reinstall on the Inventor 2013 installation. Problem still persists.
New user to Maya here. I recently have been working on some scenes at the office and found out afterward about Maya's Projects settings and auto creation... Needless to say, my current files are now not part of a Project.
Is there any way to take the currently open scene and export it as a new Project or Gather the files from a scene and build a new Project without having to do it manually?
I want to navigate along my feature line, viewing which point is screen is the current point at the grid.
My feature line shows its points with blue circle & square grips and the current point is showed by a green circle.
The problem is the zoom level, Grips have always the same size but circular green indicator does not.
You can only view this last at a very detailed zoom.
I'd like to have a "big" arrow or something similar.The problem is the great difficulty to identify points....

When we xref them in, the point markers (only the circular node on the actual point, not the line coming off of it) take on the color of whatever the current layer is in the drawing, only fixable by changing the current letter and regenerating.

Project objects to profile view... got it. No problems selecting individual survey points or survey figures and projecting to profile view. Is there a way to project a entire point group to a profile. I have a point group created for the large number of points to be projected. Next I right click on the point group and click "select'. Then go to Project objects to profile view. Nothing...
This process works for the survey figures, but not the point groups! In prospector tab go to survey > figures then select CTRL + each figure to project then VIOLA' the whole group of figures are projected.
Is this limited to graphical selections only? If so, is there a workaround to generate a graphical selection set from the point group.
Using C3D 2010 on Win 32bit platform
I exported a .arg file in the menu :'Options>Profiles' and I imported the '.arg' file back after I reinstalled the Autocad 2013. Then I selected the profile which I imported , and clicked the button 'SET CURRENT'
BUT It didn't work after I reopen the ACAD 2013. The current profile isn't the imported one still. I have tried again and again. How to 'set current' the profile I imported??
I do not have vault installed and I am trying to add sub files to my project. As of now my project has to find many of my files and I do not want to copy and past them into my project folder as this will mess with my parts numbering system. I want only one part / assembly file per part. I assume that you can do this with the project dialog box or some other system tool I just can not seem to figure it out.

View 5 Replies View RelatedIn AutoCAD Architecture 2009, we had this awesome button that would basically "lock" the z-axis. This was very handy to move 3D objects around in the same plane.
Now in AutoCAD 2013, the button is no longer there! I found that you can make it a full-time change in the Options/Drafting tab, but we like to switch back and forth with this and that button was really handy.
I've also read that in older versions you could run the "AecProject.arx" file, but we don't have that in our AutoCAD 2013 folder (and I can't find it anywhere else on our hard drives.)
We do have AutoCAD Architecture 2013 but I was trying to only utilize what I needed rather than turn on Architecture every day.
Had a trawl through the options and settings - couldn't find a way to stop this message appearing? Even EXPERT <1> didn't stop it.
View 3 Replies View RelatedIt works sporadically. The error is "There were no plotable sheets in the current operation." I did a window. Also tried saving the dwg to a previous version. I note in options, that a multi sheet file is chosen, but I only have one sheet. Can not seem to change multi sheet to one sheet. If I open the file in Inventor, I get the same error.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I set a layer as current, every object or line I select in the drawing appear to be on that layer in the toolbar. Although in the properties toolbox, I see that the line I selected is still on the right layer.
I can't work in paperspace either, when I freeze a layer it freezes all objects. It seems like whenever I give a different layer to an object, it attributes to all object that same layer.
When I open the same drawing in acad 2008, everything is ok, the objects have the proper layers.
Is there a command for that or it's an acad 2013 problem?
I am familiar with the LAYMCUR command to select an object and make that layer current. I am hoping there is a command to select text or a dimension and make that style current. I can't fine such a command. I have to select a text, see what style shows up in the box at top, go to the text style box, find the style and make it current. It seems like unneeded steps. It's simple for layers, why not text and dimensions?
View 3 Replies View RelatedAutocad 2013 Data Extraction works if I do not include attached xrefs and set it to "Select objects in current drawing". When I check "Extract objects from xrefs"; and go to next it processes for a bit then stays on page 2 of 8 on the Define Data Source page. Also have the same error if I choose " Drawings/Sheet set" with or without the xref objects included.
