AutoCAD Inventor :: Working With Multivalue Lists Of Other Parameters
Mar 22, 2013I'm writing an input check function (check certain inputs to be positive, or within a certain range). I'm a mechanical engineer with basic coding experience, mostly with basic matlab experience (some c++), so I don't fully understand VB structure, classes, objects, etc.
I'm giving my function a mutlivalue list of the names of parameters, converting to an ArrayList, then using 'For Every Item" in array list If>my condition>then display input box. And I have it working, but probably not the "proper" way, though if it works, it works. My real question is if I can use a multivalue list of parameter names and create a sister MV list that contains the parameter values. Currently I have to hard code a MV list with quotes aorund the names, and one without quotes. I've played around with various ways of using multivalue.set/setlist, val(), CDblAny() and other functions, but always end up with either class mismatches, an MV list with a single evaluated parameter, or an exact duplicate of the original paramter name MV list.

AutoCad :: Editing Functions Stopped Working?
Jul 1, 2012I was working normally in a drawing (ACAD 2012, 32b) file when, without any apparent reason, I tried to delete something and it didn't work. The way I work is that I select first and then press the "delete" key.
Now, when I do this, absolutely nothing happens. The objects remain selected. While trying to figure out what was happening, I discovered further disruptions. For example, when I select and object and then right-click, instead of showing me the edit shortcut menu, it repeats the last command. I know what you are thinking, but I already verified the right-click customizations and it is correctly set to "shortcut menu" in the "edit mode".
Finally, when I double click on a text, it won't edit as expected; again, nothing happens. Ane yes, in "Options/Windows standard behaviour" the "Double click editing" options is selected.
All the above has it's way around: the "erase" command works, the "ddedit" text works, etc. But it slows me down horribly.

Sep 5, 2012I was working on a drawing file when my ribbon went haywire. My layer drop down seems frozen so it only shows the current layer and the hatch edit ribbon does not function properly.
The issue with the layer drop down is if I select a line, fill, etc. on any layer the layer drop down on the home ribbon does not change to show the layer that item is on and if I select multiple items on different layers which usually causes the drop down to go blank it still shows the current layer. The object color, line thickness and linetype all change on the properties tab to show the properties of the selected item so the entire home ribbon is not frozen. If I scroll through the layer drop down and select a layer to move the selected item to a new layer AutoCAD responds *Invalid selection* Expects a point or Window/Last/Crossing/BOX/All/Fence . . .
The hatch edit ribbon is completely useless. The angle and scale boxes are greyed out and if I select any of the buttons (Set Origin, change hatch pattern, etc.) AutoCAD again responds with *Invalid selection* . . .
The only CUI shown is the ACAD.CUIX and I have done a Reset and Restore, changed the workspace, restarted AutoCAD and restarted my computer. What am I missing?

I have tried disabling the Catalyst A.I. and restaring PS. The video card is AMD Radeon (TM) HD 6620G. Nothing I do seems to work. I can see the 3D menu it's all grayed out and when in the 3D tab under layes, if I try to create a 3D object this is the message I get. "The 3D features require that "Use Graphics Process" is enabled in the Performace preferences. Your video card must meet the minimum requirements and you may need to check that your driver is working correctly.
Photoshop :: Most Functions In Liquify Stopped Working CS4?
Aug 14, 2013Suddenly, Forward Warp, Bloat and all the rest stopped working. The only things that work are Freeze Mask strokes, Thaw Mask strokes and Zoom. Nothing was changed in settings except Brush size when this happened, which was: closed out of PS, re-opened the same image I had been working on... no response in Liquefy.. I then tried other BMPs, JPEGs and PSDs, all of which I had worked on before today with Liquefy. I also tried restarting the machine. Again, 99% sure no settings were changed except Brush size. Tools in the main interface are working normally.

Mar 25, 2013I have been using this software for a few months now, and I continue to have crashing issues. The issues, however related, are not consistent. I tend to have issues when using more complex applications of the software such as crashes when performing a breakout view, freezing and then many times crashing when manipulating a part within an assembly drawing, and several other similar issues. I have received an update SP1.1 (176) and installed it. This update states it contains a fix for issues of crashing due to excessive memory consumption.
I have 6GB of RAM, nVidia Quadro FX 3800 1GB graphics card, Intel Core i7 920 2.66GHz processor, and updated drivers...

AutoCAD Inventor :: ILogic / Use Same Variable In Multiple Subs / Functions?
Apr 10, 2013I have an iLogic rule in which I'm trying to set three user parameters for the gage of each leg of a steel angle. I want Inventor to set the gage based on the length of each leg. Here's the table I referenced for gages: [URL].
In my code, I have a sub called DetermineGage which takes the leg length, whether it's the short leg or the long leg, and determines the gages that should belong to that leg. Inside of that sub it calls on a sub called ApplyGage which then applies the determined gage to the rule's gage variables. The main sub then grabs those variables and applies those values to the actual user parameters.... In theory.
The rule executes ok with no errors, but doesn't change the value of the user parameters; they're always "0". As best I can tell, the "oGage" variables I used in the rule don't even get assigned the correct value, which makes me think the DetermineGage and ApplyGage subs can't even access the oLegLength or oGage parameters to read or set them. I don't want to use global parameters because I've heard that can make programs very unstable over time and is just bad practice. How can I make these variables accessible to all subs IN THIS RULE, no more no less?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Preserve Functions In IProperties When Accessing With VBA Script
Dec 3, 2012I made a simple dialog to access some of the iproperties. This is quite handy when working on a drawing of a part, but there is one flaw with this script. If the part's description has a function referencing the parts dimensions for instance, when my script gets the description it gets the plain text and not the formula. Meaning if the part's description is "=<d0> X <d1> X <d2>" and appears as "1 X 2 X 3" the script will get "1 X 2 X 3" and when it resaves the description it will over write the formula with plain text.
Is it possible to get the formula so my script could display that for editing instead of the plain text?
Below is a part of the code I'm using and it's the standard code I've seen for retreiving ipropterties.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Suitable ILogic Functions For Part Template?

A while ago, I had seen one that would simply triger when part was checked in or saved. It would check if the material feild was utilzed or forgotten at Default.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Very Slow ILogic Functions With Multiple Processes?
Mar 22, 2013how the internals of Inventor / iLogic are working.
We have multiple instances of Inventor running on a 12 core workstation so we can push configurations through concurrently - each Inventor instance is assigned its own processor affinity and each instance has its own project which points to seperate directories of Inventor models.
Everything seems to work OK when there are up to 5/6 working concurrently, but as soon as there are more than 6 the iLogic functions seem to grind to a halt - note that the rules are external rules.
For example, this function took 11 seconds to complete when there were 10 concurrent orders processing. :

Similarly these functions took 11 seconds in total to complete :

When I run these with less that 6 concurrent Inventor processes, they're are almost instant.
I just don't know where the bottleneck is. I've ruled out :
- Processor (each core never reaches above around 60%)
- RAM (we've got 48GB of RAM, with about 15GB free at worst)
- Disk (disk IO is busy, but it doesn't look like it's the bottleneck)
- Graphics (Inventor is in silent mode, with no UI, so graphics activity is minimal)
From the tests I've done it seems to be the iLogic functions that are the bottleneck. My next port of call is to change the iLogic functions to actual API calls, but I suspect I'll get the same results.
So, my questions :
Is Inventor queing these iLogic API calls somehow (note we're creating a unique instance of the Inventor.Application COM object for each processing thread) ?
Is there an issue with using external rules with nultiple instances?

I have loaded in my parameters for my title blocks ("Addition", "City, State, Zip", "Address", and "Lot#/Block#) in the same way I have done it in any other project. but for some reason in this project after I have loaded in my parameters and set them to my sheets and I am still not able to select them and edit them on my sheets.

Sep 21, 2011Im wondering if its possible to link either a constraint dimension to an action parameter or vice versa. Or using a linear parameter's value in an user parameter formula.
Its a 2D cylinder, for winding purposes we just have a rectangle, with a distance from the Y axis for radial.
Parametric dimensions: B=thickness, C=Lenght, R=radius
User parameter: A=Diameter (R*2), Mass in kg ((((pi*(c*b))*(A+B))*1.25)/1000)/1000
For the BOM, i need A, B, C & mass
For drawing references for peoples on the floor, to distinquish a cylinder from a stick, we put lines at the top and bottom of the cylinder, 1mm distance inbetween them.
I figured that making a linear parameter + stretch on the thickness to replace the B parametric dimension, allowed me to make an array of that line, with increments of 1mm as i stretch the cylinder. The thing is that the mass formula cant take the value of action parameters....
Other alternative is to keep the B parametric dimension, and add a linear parameter as above for the array. But then i have 2 places to adjust, and from a test i made, if i change the R dimension, the linear one does not follow. Its very frustrating.
What i was hoping autocad would be able to do is distance1 for array to be same as B dimension, but it does not allow me to do that, unless im missing something.

Parameters who can vary for lets say a rectangular profile with:
80x50x2
80x50x3
100x50x2
That these data sets/parameters are grouped/linked to eachother in the Parametric Table.
So when I'm doing my analyses with the profile of 100 and I change the wall thicknes from 2 to 3mm the 100 changes to the 80 variant automaticly, or asks me which version I want.
It would be handy to avoid mistakes with non excisting combinations of profiles.
Is there a custom app for Inventor that allows you to manage parameters easier? (Grouping wise to keep a better overvieuw.)

Oct 9, 2013I'm having some difficulties with iLogic and reference parameters.
I have made a tube with a weird shape and I want to measure the longest length. So I have to cut the tube in a certain angle in relation with the center to measure the length.
The problem is that this angle is really hard to calculate.
So I tried making a rule where I can make my angle shift x degree and then measure the longest length. If the measurement is larger the previous measurement the angle will shift x degree again until the measurement is smaller than the previous.
So I made my starting angle 0 degree, I know this is for a fact not the longest length. And then I tried this rule. (before making a While rule).
And I noticed that on screen the measurement changes. But the reference - parameter stays the same. So it gives me the measurement on the starting angle & after rotating it again gives me the starting angle.
How can I get the parameter to update itself in between?

Mar 12, 2012I am creating a weldment that is controlled using parameters that are linked to an Excel spreadsheet (using Inventor 2012). One of my parameters is the size of the weld bead. I am able to add the parameter to change the visible size of th fillet and groove welds but am unable to have the weld symbols update to show the parameter value. How to add the parameter to the weld symbols? Or is this not possible?

Jan 9, 2013Is there any way of exporting text parameters from an assembly to individual parts without using i Logic? I am also unable to import text parameters to a . I am from an excel file.
We are currently using ilogic to change part text parameters from the assembly but it is a sticking plaster at best, as the rules need to be rewritten when parts are added and deleted from the assembly. We are trying to update our etched job number (which in many cases contains letters) from a single point on the assembly model which should populate all part files, and make it robust for all our CAD users, who do not use iLogic in their day to day duties.
If this is not possible (exporting text parameters the same way numerical parameters are handled) is there any plans of getting this included in upcoming versions?
AutoCAD Inventor :: Using Parameters From Excel In 2010?
Sep 17, 2010I created an assembly, so far with one part in it. I created an Excel spreadsheet with several dimensions in it that would be used in the assembly parts. I went to Manage>Parameters and linked the spreadsheet. The Excel file appeared in the Parameter Dialog Box with the parameters included in it. However, when I create a part in the assembly and attempt to dimension a sketch in it, the parameters option in the dimension box is not present.
I have done this in the past in IV2009, has anything changed that I cannot do so in 2010?
