AutoCAD Inventor :: Preview In Recently Opened Documents-list Displays Incorrect Dates
Dec 22, 2011
I can't remember when I first saw the recently-opened-document-list in which you can preview the documents; you hover your mouse above one of the documents listed there, a preview of the document pops up, and if you wait a second longer, underneath the preview some dates are displayed (modified date, Version info etc.). For as long I CAN remember, these dates have always been set to 1-1-0001 0:00:00, see picture below. I hoped that the release of Inventor 2011 solved this issue, but after installing Inventor 2012 this year, this issue has still not been solved. Is this an Inventor issue, or is it Microsofts responsibility?

if it is possible to increase the number of recently used values/parameters in the dimension dialog, during part sketching. For one part, I use approximately ten parameters that will be used repeatedly. When I'm done with one sketch and start with the next, only the last five parameters are in the recently used parameter list. (Create dimension --> select arrow on right side of dialog, see attachment Dimension_Dialog.jpg, excuse me for the poor quality ). It would be much more comfort to have more parameters in this 'recently used'-list.
Furthermore I'd like to know if it's possible to widen the parameter-list. In my case I've several parameters that start with the same prefix, followed by a differentiating suffix. When I create a new dimension, select the arrow on the right and select 'List Parameters', I have to adjust the width of this dialog every time to see the entire parameter. (see picture Dimension_parameters.jpg)
From the inventor file menu how to get an in correct recent files list? I get a list that i never worked on. When I carefully take a look, it shows a combination of couple files i worked on and a many files that my colleagues worked on.The tool tip shows it reading from c: empxxxx
Is there a way to get a list of the currently open documents in VBA?
Right now to process a bunch of open drawings I simply process the active drawing and then close it, then repeat until all are closed. I'd like to be able to get a list of open documents and switch between them to process them all, which would leave them open.
Text is displaying at the incorrect size in both paper space and model space. It seems that there may be some kind of global scale factor in action e.g. if I add text at size 2.5, it displays at size 2.25 and if I add text at size 1.8, it displays at size 1.62.
How do I set so that text is displayed at the correct size?
I could not see the preview of the drawing in any document of inventor. The icons shows only a box and not the drawing in miniature. The same happens with all my Autocad drawings.
Today I started up my computer, ran 3ds Max 2010 64bit on windows 7,the 3ds Max menus became square frames, included recently opened files names...I repaired and reinstalled 3ds Max,but it fixed nothing...what else can i do?
I have lists of Documents I am altering and saving automatically in a loop, The problem is that if the file needs to be migrated you get a dialog box in your face for every file in the list. How can I temporarally turn the dialog off?
I recently bought a Nikon D7100. I took some test shots and imported the images to Lightroom 4.4, then generated 1:1 previews for all the images.
Previews zoomed to 1:1 in Library Mode are noticeably soft. The image below is a screen shot of the Library preview:
Moving to Develop View produces a higher-resolution 1:1 preview. The image below is a screen shot of the Develop preview:
Look at the bricks and window screens to see the difference.
This difference occurs immediately after import (with a User Preset applied during import). Once any Develop work is done, the Library preview updates and displays at full resolution.
This problem makes doing initial editing/selection of images time consuming, because I can't determine the sharpness/quality of imported images until I've done some kind of Develop adjustment on each image.
I am using AutoCAD 2012 and the .NET API. How can i loop through the document objects of all the open documents? i am trying to do something like the code below..
public void GetDocNames() { DocumentCollection docs = Application.DocumentManager; for (int i = 0; i < docs.Count; i++) { AcadDocument doc = docs[i]; Debug.Print(doc.Name); } }
when trying to reopen a file from the "recently used" file list? When I try to click on a file from the list it gives me a message stating "error opening file". I know this will happen if the file has been moved to another location, but the files are in the same place as when I originally opened them. None of the files in the list will open anymore. Is this a pathing issue?
Attached is a zip file with a standalone program to aid in cleaning up the Recent Documents list for all flavors of AutoCAD, 2009-2013.
It's pretty self explanatory, just be sure to run it with no sessions of AutoCAD, or vertical products, running. It should refuse to run if it sees any Acad.exe application in the running tasks list. Once the dialog opens it will show you all of the Autocad related products you have installed, select one and it will fill in the first list of recent documents. Then select a profile for that product and the second list will populate with the SSM related recent documents saved for that profile. You can then select any item from either list, if the same DST filename exists in both lists it will automatically select them both. Use the standard selection methods to select more than one (shift-click, control-click, window).
Be sure to Unblock, if needed, the zip file before extracting the exe file. (Check the file properties)
Any way to remove the .dst listings in the "Recent Documents" list on the "File" pulldown? We use Civil 3D mostly with dwg files and they are usually pushed off the list because of Sheet Set Manager files. Some of these dst's haven't been opened in weeks? But there still at the top of the list....very unproductive when you have to go searching for a dwg file you were just working on.....

I'm trying to setup a custom form that matches my company's title block information. My desired end result is to eliminate the need to open the iproperties (some users find it confusing/inconvient). I have a seperate tab for the check/status information listed in the "status" tab of the iproperties. In the iproperties, these are activated and deactivated with a check box. When I add these properties to my form, I have the ability to open a calendar but I have no way of knowing if the date is activate or not.
I saw in another post, that a ticket was opened to added the material selection to the options in forms. Could this functionality be added as well?
I am creating mockups for a t-shirt design, this top photo is how the design looks in illustrator with the correct pantones: blue 3115C, Red 119C, and Black. When I save it as a PDF and it is opened in the Preview Application, certain colors turn black like this. This has happened several times lately and I have recently switched from Illy CS5 to CS6, so I wonder if that is the reason?
When I click File the drop down menue at the bottom has five entries for recent jobs. The most current is a file I worked on three or four days ago. How do you make Corel remember what was the last job opened?
What setting/toggle needs to be turned on to preview the list of parcels in a site? I have a user who clicks on the parcels heading in his site and doesn't see a preview of the list:
Don't deal it as parcel preview when you actually click on the name of the parcel. That I do know how to toggle on. We're just looking for the list.
I was performing some FEA analysis and was getting some strange results. So I investigated into my material properties to find that mine were INCORRECT! I looked at some of my co workers material libraries and they seemed to be correct. How do I go about possibly resetting my material properties. I just installed inventor 2014 about a week or 2 ago. I have attached a screen shot of the incorrect material properties.
where the setting for the size of type/font preview drop down is located in CS6, it used to be located under pref->type->type preview - but apparently not anymore. I'm probably "blind", they surely did include this option in CS6?
(A thing I find annoying in CS6 is how short the font drop down list is, only covers 1/3 of the height of my resolution, even though I have hundreds of fonts activated - requires a lot of scrolling! I really hope this gets larger if it is possible to have larger previews)
The PC (running XP PRO 32bit) in question is at a middle school, so I'm sure someone was playing with settings, but I cannot find what they changed. underneath each screen icon that should say INVENTOR STUDIO, APPLICATION OPTIONS, SHEETMETAL, MODEL, etc. etc...all that shows is boxes; it's like they've either changed the language for the app to chinese (or other unsupported/unloaded in our OS) or some system font is haywire, but this only is affecting Inventor 2011 so far so I believe they changed a setting in the app. Once I get into a menu option; the text for each tab is correctly displayed. Where would one set the text/font for all icons in the Inventor 2011 interface?
I have an addin which has an icon for a button. In Inventor 2012 it displays fine. In Inventor 2013 the icon appears to be enlarged by about 4x, and only the top left corner of the icon is visible. The api clearly states that Inventor will scale the image to size.
This is the C# code I'm using to load the icon. The icon is in my resources file.
I'm using Inventor 2013. I created an assembly where I did a lot of top down modeling (meaning components in the assembly were created in the assembly. All but a handful of the components are adaptive to other components). When I went to make my drawings for having the components made, I started noticing that some of the dimension values were wrong. I could go into the model and verify the features, but when dimensioning on the drawing it would not match. Furthermore, this didn't occur on every dimmension on the drawing. Not even half of them were incorrect, but it only takes one to really mess up a part.
I've attached a screen shot of what I'm seeing. The 15.2 and 5 dimmension are correct, but obviously those don't add up to 31.37. I know I can manually override this dimmension, but only if I know to do it. I tried to do a drawing of another part in the same assembly and eventually found a similar problem.
Finally, I created a step file of the 1st part (to strip away the adaptivity) and when I created the drawing again, the problem went away.
My question is, is there something I did in the assembly / creation process that would have caused this?
When i attempt to open an IGS file i get "an unnnamed files contains an incorrect path"
I thought it could have been a corrupted file but its not.Tried to create my own IGS file (successful) attempted to open that and failed.Downloaded an IGS file from Autodesk, failed as well.I was having issues opening other files but i updated the video drivers on my Dell M6600.
I am having a problem with an assembly not showing the correct total mass of all of its components and sub-assemblies. The value is out by nearly 20%, over 3000kg!
I have narrowed the mass discrepancy down to a derived part of a sub-assembly. But this incorrect mass is only present when I navigate to the derived part's iproperites via the browser tree of the higher level assembly where I am having the mass problem. It is as though the top assembly got some of its mass property information from a previous point in time, i.e. possibly before the derived part's mass properties were updated, and now refuses to look at the current information.
By the way, I have opened up and checked the mass properties of each sub-assembly and the derived part; and when opened individually these show as correct. I have also tried 'Rebuild All' with no success.
Is it possible for mass properties in an assembly to become corrupted?
