AutoCAD Inventor :: Limits And Fits Table Is WRONG
Jun 23, 2011
I just got back a submittal package from a customer. Many markups because of incorrect dimension callout for a certain fit. When I dimensioned the drawing, I used the limit/fit calculator that is with Inventor. Now I just compared this calculator with the ANSI B4.1-1976 standard that it is supposed to follow. What I found was that the values in Inventor are wrong.
I just checked a few sizes and they do not match the ANSI standard. Not sure it there are other fits that have errors in them, but I will bet there are. Does Autodesk realize that if this information is put out, we have to take it as gospel. I don't have the time to check every-little-stinking dimension. If the dims in the table is wrong, I might as well type them in myself and forget about using the table.
Here is a screen shot of some of the errrors that I found. I also checked this size range for RC3, RC4 and RC5. They all have errors in them too. I am sure there are more, just dont have the time to check. We are not talking about "Freeware" here...
We want to substitute drawings with a color-palette. This means, we have to set different colors to different kind of features ( i.e. H7-fitting to red, thread to yellow, ....). We do this manually by now.
I mean, if on makes a fit-hole then automatically it appears in red. All threads he makes are in yellow and so on. Is there a chance to make a feature-based color-table in inventor and if it is so.
I need to find out how much smaller the part in the upper image is so it fits inside the similar shape in the bottom image. The real part is a bit more complicated so it's hard to calculate if it fits. Is it possible to make those parts in assembly mode so that they don't move through each other and I could move the upper part inside the lower and find out that way if it fits?
When I paste data from excel into autocad as 'autocad entities'(paste special) the newly created autocad table does not adhere to the pre-defined table style. Even if I right click on the table and remove overides the text sizes are wrong. I suspect it might be related to some variable, but I don't know which one.
I have a question about limiting movements. In real life, when you close a door it stops as soon as it hit its frame. I want to do the same in Inventor.
Is there any way to force IV to allow more than the 5 decimal place resolution that is listed in the Units drop down box?
And is there any way to force the result in the distance command to show all the decimals even if they are zeroes? When I specify 6 decimal places in the distance / measure command, I want to see 6 decimal places. If I don't, then I don't know if the rest of the digits are zeros or if it just didn't accept my choice to show 6 decimal places.
The angle or radius are outside the table boundaries. I have used bend tables before and have not run into this. See screenshot. What I don't understand is that in the error dialog box the Thickness is correct the Radii are correct and the Angle is correct except it is showing a -90 degrees. Is that the problem? The negetive? Why is it showing a negative number. I can't change the way the part is formed. The problem seems to be with the lower left hand curl. It does go ahead and flatten it, but I don't trust the results when I have the three errors.
How would I go about creating a rule in iLogic which would limit the minimum length of a pipe (parameter = Pipe_Length) to be half the outer diameter of the pipe (Pipe_OD), in other words "Pipe_Length ≥ Pipe_OD/2"
I know you can use the limits wizard in iLogic, but is that not only for numerical values as opposed to parameters?
I have a part where I have placed a number of table driven iFeatures. These features generate parameters in the model that I can see in the parameter table. I am trying to find a way to have these iFeature parameters show up in the hole table in my drawing.
By 'exporting' the parameters, I have been able to get the values to show in notes and drawing view labels but I can't find a way to add them as a 'New Property' in my hole table.
(again): how to create one title block that fits all paper sizes?
In the ArcGIS, the same layout can fit all paper sizes and there is no need to customize the layout for each paper size manually. For example, if the map is set up based on A4 paper size and then needed to be printed in A0 size, then all the lay out elements will be automatically proportionally changed to fit the new paper size.
I’m not sure if there is an equivalent features in the AutoCAD that handle this issue
I want to use PS CC exclusively for astro photography, for that , the file format use is FITS 16 or 32 or IEET , before with CS3 we used fits liberator and after downloading , it was easy to use it , in plugin/ file format. But now I have a lot of difficulties to open this file.
I want to do something similar to the "past into" command.. but i want the pasted image automatically deformed so that it contours the border of selection.
Using Inventor 10, I have replaced several components of my assembly with new copies of the components to be modified into new parts. For some reason the model tree still shows the old part numbers, but editing the parts reveals that they are indeed the new parts. How to correct the part listing in the model tree?
These gradients in gimp are really hard to figure out (not saying other things seem easy to me), however I'm sure if one knows what to do, they can solve many problems.
I had that screenshot of a text list:
And I wanted to make it fade away from the highlighted line:
However, with the blend tool, this is actually impossible or really really hard, because I can't aim it so preciselly.
An IDW view is showing a second iteration of a part instead of one of each. I have tried turning the visibly on / off in the ipn. I have also toggled the associativity on / off. The view shows the correct image during its preview, but when the view is done being created, it shows the wrong part again.
In the drawing, i annotate a thread. the automatic text for thread depth is always, as far as i see, incorrect, for example if the thread depth is 50 it writes, i don't remeber, but something like 250.
Maybe it has to do with the font, altough i doubt. i am in israel, and the quantity of threads, also an automatic text, is written backwards, for example 4x instead of x4.
I am new to Inventor, running Inventor 2012. I know Solidworks.
I have a sketch with ellipse and then squares inside the ellipse. I am trying to edit the part not create. The program extrudes either ellipse or squares. New problem: the extrusion is picking wrong sketch. I need to finish the part....
Trying to apply a variable radius to a part. The direction of the radius is wrong (pointed back in toward the part) and I cant get it to go the other way. As long as all the fillets along the curve are the same radius, the fillet will compute, but if I make them vary, then it fails.
I'm very new to this photo editing. Never used photo shop. Only slightly understand what a layer is and don't really know how they work.
Basically I want to take one image of a person looking at a computer screen and then on the computer screen I want to paste another image so it looks as though they're looking at the image.I have both images but how to cut, copy, paste and resize so that the image fits the screen.
I received dual monitors a while ago and I've noticed an annoying issue with VBA dialogs. No matter which screen I have inventor open on all but one of my dialog boxes opens to the far left side of my right monitor. This is quite annoying as I normally have to drag the dialog bad to a better spot.
All of my dialogs have the "Center Owner" for the start up position selected. I can't explain why one scripts dialog box appeared centered and the rest don't.
I have a psd mockup located here. [URL]... - the last one.
inserting image in a proper way to getting the correct final result. I tried already but no succes. How to center the inserted image to the box. How to make image rotate and that fits to iphone screen?
Is there a way in the description field of an Inventor hole table to have mixed units? Some hole sizes at fractions, some at 2 plc, and others at 3 places.
I am having an issue with drawing files. I have set views on assembly files. But on the idw file it is showing wrong views... And this is making problems when i am trying to give dimensions. I have attached jpg files.
