AutoCAD Inventor :: 2014 Fails To Export To DWG On Win 8.1?
Oct 2, 2013I installed inventor 2014 on my laptop with windows 8.1, and export to DWG does not work. When i go to export, the options button doesnt work. when i click save, it pops up a windows and says "Problems encountered while saving the document." On my desktop with 2014 it works perfectly. I have the newest sp1.

Oct 11, 2013In Inventor 2014, is it possible to export a list of all of the materials in a given material library..? As text, or into Excel, or something similar?
I have a material library in Inventor 2014 containing lots of custom defined materials. I would like to create a master list that I can give to someone who isn't using Inventor. The only property that I really need to export is the material name, e.g.' CSA G40.21-44W'.
In this case, engineering is trying to coordinate better with purchasing, by making sure that materials are specified in the same way in both departments.

They told me Inventor fusion is not an easy tool and would prefered to use inventor files.
AutoCAD Inventor :: Opening Files With 2014 As Default?
Jul 17, 2013I am having an odd issue with the windows default for opening files for Inventor. I previously had the full Autodesk 2013 software suite. A couple of months ago I did the upgrade and installed the Autodesk 2014 software suite.
My issue is now when attempting to open files the default is to open them in Inventor 2013 (still installed on my machine).
I went through the windows default programs options and browsed/selected the Inventor 2014 .exe application. However, this does not add the 2014 application to the list as it seems 2013 over rides it.
I tried to manually changing .ipt/.iam/.stp etc. file types from Inventor 2013 to Inventor 2014, yet am still unable to have the 2014 application added to the potential list of default programs to open with.
One solution would appear to be to un-install the 2013 suite, is there any other way to fix this problem? It is nothing crucial, yet very annoying.
another way that I can get the default program altered to use Inventor 2014? I have attached pictures showing my steps of attemping to change the file association for a .stp file. However, this does not work. I even brought this issue to my company's IT perssonnel and they were unsure.

Aug 8, 2013we are a large manufacturing organisation and currently are using Inventor 2014 for our product design and day to day production drawing. We purchased Inventor 2014 recently for its BIM transfer capabilities. It would appear however that we can only view the outcome of the transferred files fron Inventor within Revit its self.
As we do not require Revit for any production work, purchasing a Revit licence is not an option. I recently downloaded the trial version of Revit Architecture to review the transfer files but the trial licence is now ready to expire.

Oct 28, 2013We've finally nibbled the bullet and upgraded to 2014. I'm getting errors in the Task Scheduler logs about missing files in various projects. It would appear that (almost) without exception, the failed files are all Content Center parts that were inserted as custom parts. Do I need to run a migration on the Content Center parts (Inventor/ContentCenter Files/R2013/en-US) in order for the custom parts to migrate properly?

Jul 25, 2013Everytime i switch project files for any reason, Inventors response time to anything gets to the point i have to close the program and open it back up. After the program restart I'm able to use it again, but then when I have to change project files it does the same thing again. It's wasting a lot of time for me and I'd rather not format and reinstall everything.

Is there any function of Inventor that will allow me to do this to many files at once thru a macro or something similiar? When I say many I mean somewhere around 5000. I know enough of inventor to open up the .stp file and export it to autocad. I am using scriptpro from the autodesk website to run a series of commands on the files once I have them in dwg format. Any similar tool for Inventor?

May 8, 2013I have just updated to Map3D 2014 and work in 2D Drafting Workspace. In 2013, the export button was located in the Map Drafting tab, Map Output panel. In earlier versions it was under output tab as map 3d export. However, its position in 2014 from 2013 has been replace by a "To FDO Connection". it directs me to the older location of under the output tab - map data transfer - map 3d output, however this does not seem to exist. The only panels I have there are Plot and Export to DWF/PDF, no map data transfer. I can find it if I switch to Map Drafting Workspace in the Map Drafting pulldown - inport/export - export, or if I use the command "mapexport", but from both it only asks where and what to name the file and what type (shp, tab, etc), and then the routine stops and goes back to the drawing instead of opening the dialog to select objects, etc. Some of my clients insist on shp files.

Dec 28, 2012A couple months ago I could export to STL files using Inventor Pro 2012 and a third party could open them on whatever platform they are using. Now when I export to STL files, the third party cannot open them and I cannot open them either on the Inventor Pro 2012 platform. Nothing has changed since the originals were sent to the third party. I have read some of the threads, but there is a lot of STL, none of the ones I read address this problem. The properties from Windows Explorer say the file type is Certificate Trust List (.stl).

Apr 17, 2013I have just recently installed AutoCAD LT 2014 on Windows 7 (Running on an intel iMac through Bootcamp). Ever since then i am receiving notifications when performing a save.
AutoCAD is telling me it cannot perform the save and is creating a .tmp file in the same location on the server as the file should be.
this is causing major performance issues and happens almost every second time I attempt to perform a save. The issue is that we are getting multiple versions of the same file duplicating on the file server which is very quickly going to cause capacity issues considering most files are 2-4mb in size.

May 8, 2012I want to save a bunch of inventor 2009 idw's to AutoCad dwg's
I realize there are add-ins available for doing this, however i wanted to see how Task Scheduler performed this. I chose a export files task then selected the idw's to save as dwg's
This all went well until i looked at the result.
two things the dwg is saved as filename.idw.dwg I do not want or need the .idw in the new file name, but can find no setting to remove this.
The dwg's are saved to a zip file. Again i neither need or want these in a zip file I just want them save in the same folder as the idw.

Nov 18, 2013Looking for reasons why I can't export DXF files from Inventor Sheetmetal parts.This has only occurred in the last few days.
Error says "Sketch export failed to initialize translator". This occurs when I run either of my 2 DXF macros AND if I RMB on the part Flat Pattern and Export Face As (or something like that - haven't that in a while). The macros lead me to a debug lin of oDataIO.WriteDataToFile sOut, oDXFfileNAME
I have used these 2 macros for 5+ years and have not experienced this before.
Add-ins shows that the Translator: DXF is Automatic / On Demand.
I found an earlier post here [URL] .... but this seems to be loosely related to Avast. I have Trend (server based). Can't remember any new installations of late apart from Flash.

Files that I have imported from step files, recognized features, modified and exported again come into Surfcam as Nurb surfaces. I also tried using Inventor 2013 with the same results.
I've never experienced this problem with earlier versions of Inventor.

Dec 9, 2013Our structural firm is using 2011, and our office has received drawings that came out of 2014 twice in the past week (from separate arch clients). In both instances, we back-converted using DWG TrueView 2014, but upon opening in ACAD, none of the walls were showing up (although they do appear in the preview). One of my other drafters dealt with it the first time, and got it resolved, although I didn't get specifics on how. Naturally, the second time it happened, she was out, so I am seeing if the architect can back-save to 2010 on their end and send the file.
While waiting on that, I tried QSelect in the offending file, and in the list of items that comes up, there was, amid the usual Text, Line, Pline, Block, etc., something called ACAD_PROXY_ENTITY. I selected all (nothing was visible, however--usually you see grips at least when you QSelect things), then exploded, and the walls showed up.
I have had somewhat similar odd behavior from drawings coming from I think ADT (do they still make ADT?), where things like walls, doors and windows come in as something block-like (I think AEC OBJECTS?), and we have to explode them in order to control color and visibility of their constituent parts. Perhaps this is something similar?
At any rate, this seems like something that either shouldn't be happening, or that has a more obvious fix than having to qselect and explode invisible things to get them to show up.

Revit :: 3D DWG Export With ACIS Solids Terminates 2014?
Feb 24, 2014On some of our systems (most) when exporting a 3D view to DWG with ACIS Solids makes Revit 2014 terminate whitout any dialogue or information en event log what so ever. When changing solid type to polymesh the export works fine. The file is created in the crashing scenario but is only a few kilobytes in size, as opposed to to above 33 MB file another workstation creates.
All systems use windows 8.1 64-bit, have 32GB RAM (actually the one were the export works only has 24GB). Revit 2014 Build 20131024_2115(x64).
I have uninstalled Revit 2014 and reinstalled whitout success on one of the stations where the bug occurs.
AutoCAD 2013 :: SID Files Showing Up Corrupt In 2014?
May 2, 2013I had a file which, opened with Civil 3D 2013, worked fine, but one of the SID images disappeared and was shown as "corrupt" in the same drawing opened in Civil 3D 2014.
The problem was that the file name contained a character in a font not recognized by R2014. (The file name was G1105001_095-ps 12_5æ.sid) Once I renamed the file and re-attached it in 2014 it worked fine. 2013 processes this font type with no problem.
