I created an iPart which includes 10 or more different part. I need put the part number (text) on the surface (could use emboss or extrude). When I change the part, I need the embossed or extruded part number can be changed automatically.
View 4 RepliesI would really like to put some text in the part that links to the iproperties so I can emboss the stock number on the parts. It never fails that you create a new part, then forget to change the text. This would save a ton of time and re-plots.

In a part, I create a sketch, add annotation Type in the file name. Then create an Emboss feature using this sketch.
How can I add the file name property to the text. I want the the emboss to update to new file name if I rename the file.
Is it possible, if you have a merged BOM.row to get the total quantity of each part?

Why when I mirror a part in an assembly the mirrored part gets a new part number? I want to mirror only the position of the part which is always the same part. Is it possible to do that in Inventor?

There are not many other Inventor users here that use those parts, but they might benefit from having those individual parts. The iPart may change from time to time, and in order to keep the individual parts current, I am required to activate them one by one, exporting them to STEP, IGES, SAT or IPT files for both people here to use as well as our Pro-E and Solidworks users. Is there a way to automate that process so I can hit a button and have it save all instances to a certain file format?

These were all the same parts before but now I need to make them table driven iParts in order to add a custom iProperty that changes to make them all different. They are all the same except for this on iProperty field that changes.I can create the iPart no problem. My questions are:
1.) Should I just open the part file and make it an iPart?
2.) Do I need to replace the files in the assembly somehow?
3.) I would assume that I can just edit the file to make it an iPart and then use some kind of "change component" right click to select which one goes where right?
4.) Is there some other workflow I should be using?
I have facing issue to link the ipart members in to the new part.
for example, i have one machining part that machining part showing make from number. so, i created make from first. it has 10 instance.using iPART i created 10 members.after that i need to be do the machining.machining drawing also having 10 members. I am trying to convert a standard iPart to an iLogic based part. The part has some text driven, cells..PatNumber, Description..ect..But when I try to referance those cells the iLogic code either does nothing or errors out.

I have a part that was derived from an assembly. However now I need to make this part have different center dimensions. Is there a way to make a derived part into an iPart without creating more parts? see attachment.

I am using IV 2010. After creating a sheetmetal ipart my part grows slightly between each variance.
When toggling between the different parts IV says that they need updated. I have updated them but if I toggle back after updating the other parts IV wants me to update again and it creates a circle of updating. Does this mean that making a sheet metal i part is a half baked idea? Right now the way the program is responding to sheet metal iparts it would appear that you either cannot have a flat pattern or you part cannot lengthen or shorten the different variances with keeping the flat pattern. It would appear that all is well with part with exception of this updating problem. How to eliminate IV from asking to update in between variances while keeping the flat pattern? Also I am using sheet metal extens add in.
I want to use the part number propertie to change the sheet name in the .idw
So when i insert a new sheet and place a part the part number wil be placed in the title block and i want to change the sheet name to that part number.
I name my files with our part numbers and the revision number. Our part numbers are 6 to 9 digits long and sometimes start with a zero! My iLogic rule, while simple, drops the first zero if its there. See the "FirstNumbers" below: (I tried to add the CStr(), but now I see that it just changes it to text after it drops the zero!)

I created a bom export rutine but when a virtual component is the same as a inserted standard part the rowmerge does not work.

How can I get the Part Number property in pipe parts ? In the family table the part number exist, it is mapped to the Part Number property, but when I create a piping the Part number is empty.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI have embossed text onto a part face with an assigned colour of white (main part colour is black). That is all fine in the part model, and indeed when I use that part in a sub-assembly. But, when I use that sub-assembly in a larger top-level assembly the text is black (which doesn't show up too well on a black background ). I must be missing something in a setting but I can't find it. As a test I brought another white-on-black embossed part into the same top-level assembly and that is absolutely fine.

I need to make installation plans on climate ceilings, which are steel cassettes with Meandro tube element located where cold or hot water is flowing through.

Now it may occur that a cassette is given a code 700 which represents the type of cassette. If inside the cassette is placed a Meandro element its become a follow number eg 700-01.
It may also be that the same cassette No. 700 gets another Meandro element and because the cassette has not changed shape the number 700 remains the same but the follow number change e.g. 700-02.
At the moment I change the number in the browser,(inv2012) I therefore want automatically the iproperties ,partnumber and stock number, to fit. When I go to the BOM, the part- and stock numbers automatically will be placed.
The browser codes are not displayed in the BOM. So if I specify for change I only have to do so in the browser. I wanted to do so by iLogic but then ran into problems. I found a tutorial from Rob Cohee with ilogic so you won’t forget to fill in your iproperties.

I also wanted to do so with the iproprtie Stock number but get an error stating that I must declare the name. How must i declare a name.
Also i was told for entering the browse name in ilogic i had to use displayName, but I get a error stating that the name is Read Only.
So how can i, after i change the browse name, automatically fill in the iproperties ‘part number and/or stock number? Is there an ilogic code for?
Is there a way to get a part number on pipes created by the routing tool? It seems that if it's default or custom data, the data gets blanked out on the generated files.

When i activate my rule it should.:
1. Go to a Excel spreadsheet and find next Empty cell in a specific collum
2. Place Title from inventor in that empty cell
3. Return the value from the cell next to this cell
3. Use this value as the new filename for my part.
Example: here i would like to get the parts tile put into B3 and A3 (103) returned to Inventor as filename to my part

Is it possible to update the "Part Number" Each time I change the parameters "diameter" and "length"?

Where 65 is the parameter value and 140 is the length value.
I tried with the code below,

I create a new assembly and place a component multiple times. When i open the Bill of Material i see one line with a QTY of 6 (the number of times the component was placed)
Now if i uncheck the "Enable Row Merge on Part Number Match" The BOM should show 6 lines with the same component and a QTY of 1 ....................correct?????? But it does not...........
I have a part that requires a large number of fillets. What would be the best approach, so it doesnt take 5 hours to update the model everytime i update something on the model?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe put several parts on a single drawing sheet and ,to include the part number in the drawing view label, we must edit each view label and change the type to Properties_Model and the Property to Part Number. Is there a way to set the default of a drawing view label to include the Part Number? I tried modifying the styles to include <PART NUMBER> but it the text "<PART NUMBER>" came in instead of the value. To get the value, I had to edit the view label and hit the X with a down arrow to get the part number to show up, which is not much different than having to edit the label and change type and property. I'm looking to avoid all the view label editing as much as possible.
