AutoCAD Inventor :: Custom BrowserNode Icons
Mar 11, 2013Is it possible to change a BrowserNode Icon if the node is representing not a real graphical object like a BIM exchange connector?

In my code I can only see that the type is a browsernode.
Should I use Browsernodedefinition to get the type?
Maybe it's not possible, so I can stop trying.
Dim oPane As BrowserPane = oDoc.BrowserPanes.ActivePane Dim tNode As BrowserNode = oPane.TopNode Dim oNode As BrowserNode Dim oNodes As BrowserNodesEnumerator = tNode.BrowserNodes For Each oNode In oNodes MessageBox.Show(oNode.Type) Next

I'm working with some clients and I, myself, am rather new to AutoCAD. We are using AutoCAD LT 2010. I found, in this forum, how to export custom settings. We exported settings and then imported them on a new computer. All seemed well with one minor exception:
He mentioned that every thing exported as far as window settings go, but within each applet (I'm not sure what it's called when you replace the ribbon with drawing applets), some of the icons weren't in the location where he had it. He reported that his copy icon was in the location that his "Cut" icon was.
I built a new computer, Windows 8, 64 bit.
Installed Acad LT 2011 64 bit.
Did an export of custom settings from a Windows 7 64 bit LT 2011 installation, imported those to the new Windows 8 LT 2011 installation. This was done using the Start>Programs menu. (I ditched the "Metro" stuff.)
The setup looks mostly the same, but when I go to use it, the icons don't match the commands. I have toolbars down the left and right sides with many icons. The icon for Hatch runs the Polygon command. The Move icon runs the Offset command. Lots of them are screwed up.
The ribbon commands along the top seem to be OK.
What I'm trying to do is make custom app icons for my (Android) phone. I want them to have a transparent, glassy look to them. Here's a picture of the style I'm talking about:

I found this on a website that supposedly has tutorials for this kind of thing, but I couldn't find anything except a download link, which I found on this part of the site (scroll down until you get to "3D Transparent Glass Text Effect"):
[URL]......
Thing is, the downloaded .zip doesn't seem to contain anything I can use. There's a .pat file, but I get an error every time I try to get GIMP to use it. There's also a .psd file (which I know is technically for Photoshop), but when I open that in GIMP, it's just two layers of a slightly faded black text saying "etc" on a background, all covered up by a big black rectangle.
How to create custom shortcut arrow for icons the default shortcut arrows in windows vista are huge you can use the program Ultimate Windows Tweaker UWT v2.2 (to clear off the shortcut arrow completely) or Vista Shortcut Manager to give a beautiful blue arrow
I am going to show you how to do it with xara
1. make a 256 x 256 pixels (px) square (very thin line 0.5 px , no fill)
2. draw an arrow inside in the left down corner
3. give it a drop shadow if needed
4. export as png
5. use program Iconfx
[URL]....
or
[URL]....
6. open the png in iconfx (drag and drop)
7. a "new image dialog box will open" click ok
8. advanced import dialog box: click ok
9. untitled with the png image in 48 x 48
10. now click the windows icon in the toolbar, that will make the icon
11. save the icon in a folder - give the name empty.ico
12. go to C:WindowsSystem32
paste and replace the the empty.ico which is in that folder (if you want backup the original one rename it to emptyoriginal.ico then restart explorer
this empty.ico is an overlay above any shortcuts for applications, files etc.
Now you will be able to see the custom made shortcut arrow over any shortcuts
I created a couple of icons with Greenfish Icon Editor, which works reliably for me, to assign to macros. They were saved as 16 x 16 32-bit icons. But when I try to assign them, they appear larger and I can't fit them into the space allotted for an icon; in other words, they get clipped.
View 8 Replies View RelatedWhen inserting a content center part for which we have to choose a material, we would like to have a custom material as a default (material with name: "No material selected"). So when selecting no material for this part (for example when the user forgets to select a specific material), the default material (in this case material "No material selected") will be active. In this way, we can see in one view across the BOM which parts have no material assigned yet.
How can this be achieved in the content center (editor)?

When using Inventor with Vault, we have a problem when categorizing custom content center parts in Vault. In short, custom content center parts are incorrectly categorized as "Content Center" and automatically released - as there is no property that we can use to identify these files.
I need iLogic code to trigger when custom content center files are created/saved, wich adds the following custom iproperty "IsCustomContentCenter=True".
I am trying to create custom Materials in Inventor 2013. I have been able to create the custom appearances I want use on the materials and store them in the Inventor Materials Library.
After creating the custom appearance, Ive created new materials. When I try to change to new material appearance from default to my custom appearance, upon hitting the 'apply' button I get an error message which reads, 'failed to updated style'.
Why are the icons for files (iam, ipt,) different on a teachers machine from a students machine?
View 9 Replies View RelatedUsing Inventor 2010
I just upgraded from Windows XP to Windows 7.
Not the ipt, idw, and iam file icons are difficult to distinguish between when your in a hurry.
There used to be more contrast and color between the different file types
Is there a setting for this somewhere in Inventor or Windows for this?
This is how they look below.
I just completed a fresh install of PDS on a computer and all seemed to go well but when i pick on any of the desktop icons, the little donut spins for about 1-2 seconds and then...nothing.
Everything was working last week and then AM stopped working but Inventor was okay. I uninstalled and reinstalled only AutoCAD and it didn't work and now neither did Inventor. So i uninstalled all Autodesk stuff and reinstalled all PDS apps and now nothing works.
The individual (environment) icons, i.e.; iam, ipt, idw, ipn doesn't show up anymore with my Inventor 2010. When I open Inventor, there is only one common icon shows (I) for iam, ipt, idw etc. How can I make the individual icon visible gain?
View 3 Replies View RelatedShort of converting to an add-in is there any way to place macro's into toolbars where you can set the Text of the button to something other than the macro name?
I mean, while to those who write them, there's nothing wrong (really) with a command button titled Invoke_This_Fuction or InvokeFunction, it looks quite odd to everyone else.
If the only way is via add-in, that's fine (though a friendly display name should be an option). Just trying to find out before I spend a boatload of time only to figure out you can't
Also, do all add-ins 'have' to be installed? Or is there a way you can just drop a file in the correct path and it'll appear on next running of Inventor?
I'm using inventor 20013 in my computer. I can't modify the image of icons in parts and assemblies?
I know to change the icon who appears up of tool bar in part and assembly screen , but i don't know change the general icon.
I have an addin which has an icon for a button. In Inventor 2012 it displays fine. In Inventor 2013 the icon appears to be enlarged by about 4x, and only the top left corner of the icon is visible. The api clearly states that Inventor will scale the image to size.
This is the C# code I'm using to load the icon. The icon is in my resources file.
object LookupIcon = Microsoft.VisualBasic.Compatibility.VB6.Support.IconToIPicture( InvAddIn.Properties.Resources.Lookup_Icon);

I've installed my new windows CS6, all my .psd files have the 'generic icons' windows give to files they don't recognize. Everything else has normal icons (i.e. Illustrator files) but the Photoshop files are blank. This is true whether I'm on any type of viewer format, i.e. details, thumbnails.
View 2 Replies View RelatedHave installed inventor 2014 as part of the Product Design Suite Premium 2014 & have a few issues.
1). In sketch mode when drawing a line/circle etc there is usually a green dot in the centre of the crosshair, this is not vissible at all making it difficult (if not impossible) to see where the cursor is snapping to. The same happens in the drawing mode when dimensioning. I've checked the options but can't see anything obvious.
2). The icons in the 'Navigation Bar' are invisible, I've checked the opacity levels & irrespective of the setting they are still invisible. You can hover the mouse pointer over where they should be & they work, they're just not visible.
Also, the close, minimise & restore down icons in the top right corner are also invisible. Similar to the navigation bar issue, they work, they're just invisible.
Have tried uninstall & reinstall, & have downloaded & installed the update, but this doesn't solve these issues.
I am in the process of building new machine and have a pro seat that for some reason is not showing the standard IV Icons.I have already built this machine and authorized all the softwares so I do not want to go through rebuilding to fix something so small.how to make the system show the correct icons for all the IV file types.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI can't get Inventor 2013 show a custom iproperty correct. My iLogic rule is this:
iProperties.Value("Custom", "myvol")=volume = iProperties.Volume
But the custom iProperty is a Yes or No.Had no problem with this in Inventor 2011.
I would like to add a Custom iProperty to the BOM using API.
It would mimic the "Add custom iProperty columns" dialog.
I've got a custom VBA function that works perfectly when called from a parameter in my part.
However, when in the context of my assembly, there is no error, but the function no longer runs, and the parameter text is red.
Apparently, the function is no longer in context?
I've heard of external rules, but have never implemented one.
Is there a way to declare my function and keep it in context regardless?
Public Function BumpHeight(dblHeight As Double, dblMember As Double) As Double Dim X As Integer X = 2 If dblHeight > dblMember * 2 Then BumpHeight = dblHeight Else BumpHeight = dblMember * X End If BumpHeight = BumpHeight / 2.54 End Function
Here is the Parameter:
VBA:BumpHeight(ValanceBackBumpoutHeight;ValanceMemberSize) * 1 in
Update: (problem better defined)
What seems to be happening is that once I insert the part into an assembly, it creates a new blank copy of the parts' modules in VBA and the functions no longer work.
If I go to the VBA editor,
There are now two copies of my part listed in the browser tree, but the new one is blank.
If I paste in my function to the new one, it will work until I return to the parent assembly.
Next time I come back to the part, it will have a new blank set of modules.
This appears to continue indefinitely...
see the attached screenshot.
At this point there are only 2 copies of the DocumentProject. The original still contains my functions, but the new one is blank.
I need these functions to work in order to build my model.
I have been trying to research how to create a custom surface. I found this article [URL]...... about how to to create a surface from a jpeg. The article says to "expand color on the top left." of the style editor. However, when I open the dialogue there is no "color" that can be expanded. The only thing in the top left of dialogue box is "lighting." Is there another step that the article misses, or is there another way for me to create a surface from a jpeg?

View 2 Replies View RelatedCreating feature edit dialogs? I currently have working program that creates a custom pocket/cavity but I'm having trouble with the User Interface and setting up a solid structure to handle events. My goal is to mimick how the "add hole" dialog works by having the following attributes:
- Ribbon button to bring up dialog
- Dimensions update when the dialog text boxes are updated
- Right click menu to edit existing features
- Existing dimensions and other properties are loaded when the dialog is used to edit existing features
So far, I have my classes structured this way:
AddinServer (handles loading and unloading the command) ->
CavityCommand (defines the buttons and containes event handlers) ->
CavityFeature (wraps up multiple identicle cavities into one client feature) ->
Cavity defitions (draws individual cavities using more specific classes)
Is there a way to load our old section makers when cutting sections through assemblies? I am not so fond of the ones that come per-loaded with Inventor. This is in Inventor 2012.

View 3 Replies View RelatedJust digging into 2012 and I can't seem to locate a custom toolbar UI. I have a set of customizations that I distribute to my group thru a shared drive and we are used to them all being in one place, in every environment. It appears that in order to do this I have to customize the ribbon tabs for each environment individually and manually? That can't be the case though, very counterproductive, there must be another way.

I'll use Publisher to get the photo finish, but I still have to get the color to look like the real world paint. I've contacted my paint co to see if they could give me RGB values that I could input into the custom color style editor--see attached dialog box. In Solidworks they had something called custom properties that were generally setup in the models where you had the property names and then values would be filled in to automatically populate drawing titleblocks. I found this, but I can't get the drawing description to keep changes and update the drawing.
