AutoCAD Inventor :: Custom Section Markers
Feb 15, 2013Is there a way to load our old section makers when cutting sections through assemblies? I am not so fond of the ones that come per-loaded with Inventor. This is in Inventor 2012.

View 4 RepliesWe as a company have just made the step towards Revit and I have been given the task to start using it and getting things to be presented as our company standards.
I have took a bit of time to create our section markers. They all seemed to work great and ticked them as complete off my list till I tested them and realised they are numbered. Is there a way I can get my section to be alphabetical e.g. section A-A, B-B etc.
I'm trying to migrate from AutoCAD into Inventor while maintaining my companies standards - and I need to change the way section marks show.
Is there a way to create a custom section mark routine (in AutoCAD it was a LISP routine) to make section marks as shown in the attached picture?
In the AutoCAD version, it took 3 clicks, and then prompted for text inputs - 1st was the end of the line with the circle, 2nd was the other end of the line, and 3rd was the direction of the section. Then there are 2 text prompts - first the section label, then the sheet humber.
Is this possible to do in Inventor? I figured out how to make the circles with prompted text but can't figure out how to make the lines and arrows to go with it without being fixed length and position.
I am busy constructing my own Structural Shapes Library in Inventor 1012.During the Authoring and Publishing step I mapped Cross Section Properties (Ixx, Iyy, Torsional Section Modulus, Torsional Rigidity Modulus etc) to set parameters in my iPart table.
I have noticed that once this part is then used in Frame Generator to create a simple beam and then analyzed with the Frame Analysis tool, the analysis tool uses the geometry of the part to calculate these properties.
Is there a way that I can force Inventor to use the properties in the iPart Tables? I am worried that any errors in creating the cross section geometry will be carried into the Cross Section Properties calculated by Inventor.
I am trying to verify the bending strength of a solid part. Need to calculate the section modulus on certain cross section. Don't know how to do it using inventor.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen inserting a content center part for which we have to choose a material, we would like to have a custom material as a default (material with name: "No material selected"). So when selecting no material for this part (for example when the user forgets to select a specific material), the default material (in this case material "No material selected") will be active. In this way, we can see in one view across the BOM which parts have no material assigned yet.
How can this be achieved in the content center (editor)?

When using Inventor with Vault, we have a problem when categorizing custom content center parts in Vault. In short, custom content center parts are incorrectly categorized as "Content Center" and automatically released - as there is no property that we can use to identify these files.
I need iLogic code to trigger when custom content center files are created/saved, wich adds the following custom iproperty "IsCustomContentCenter=True".

I am trying to create custom Materials in Inventor 2013. I have been able to create the custom appearances I want use on the materials and store them in the Inventor Materials Library.
After creating the custom appearance, Ive created new materials. When I try to change to new material appearance from default to my custom appearance, upon hitting the 'apply' button I get an error message which reads, 'failed to updated style'.
I installed Xrite ColorChecker Passport software and loaded a couple of custom profiles in the develop module under camera calibration. There was a glitch in the software and it did not allow me to name those profiles. Once I uninstalled that version and loaded the newer version the naming process works fine. I would like to be able to delete the unname profile out of Lightroom but I am not seeing how that can be done.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI seem to have a random, we'll say error for lack of a better term. I have a set of Point Styles with a Description Key set up for our survey points. When I import the points from a csv, I have 9 points that do not come in with the labels in the right spot. The label is supposed to sit next to the point style (see included image) Instead they sit 1 unit away. If you look at the included image you will see a point called COMH that is inserted correctly. Right above it is a point called WTMH that has the label coming in far to the right of the point style. Both the COMH and the WTMH have the same settings in the description key, and other than the block for the point, the same settings in the Point Style. I have completey re-written the description key, as well as re-created all the point styles, but this keeps happening. I have even re-created the block drawing and redefined the block in the dwt as well as an existing drawing.
P.S. I have added an image of the description key coding as well as the point style for the COMH andthe WTMH.
I have a profile view with the existing ground profile shown. The alignment the profile is referencing was stretched at the front and now the profile markers do not line up with the profile line. The profile line updated as it should have, but the markers did not.
See attached screen shot.
I am trying to turn off some markers shown below in magenta (the circles). The problem is, I've gone through the Alignment Styles and can't seem to locate the layer that these markers are actually part of.

I'm trying to create a label which gives me a distance from the begining of my reference, but coordinates are not good for this because my reference is not linear. It is a alignement with tangents and curves. What I'm trying to figure out is how to create a label with the distance of the projection of the begining point of my feature line in the alignment to the begining of the alignment.
For example: There is a alignment (road) and a feature line (curb). The alignment is the axis of the road and the feature line is an edge of the road (not need to be exactly an offset). How to configure a label to show the two kilometer markers (0.0001 precision) of the road that are the beginning and ending markers of the part of the road that has curb?

I just want to create a section from the point cloud, but the point cloud won't allow me to select it as an object in the 'Generate 2D/3D section' dialogue as it's not a solid/surface.
On an unrelated note, I find snapping to the point cloud impossible - is there an option in OSNAP that I'm missing? I've tried this with attached PCGs and RCP point clouds, no difference.
I have lots of section views with some surfaces and pipes. Unfortunately, in a number of section views pipes are not shown in full height because the section view level range is too little. What I am wondering is - is it possible to automatically adjust section level ranges so that they fully include pipe sections? Please see also the image in the attachment.

When i am creating section sheets from multiple section views ,section sheet view port scale changes.I did set it correctly in my template.
For example it changs from 1:150 to 1:150_1
Then in section sheets scetions views are not displaying correctly.
When i change view port scale manually it shows correctly. But it should do to all sheets.
What should I do?
In model spacr multiple section views are showing correctly.

In my section editor my labels show up correctly and in all the locations I want. But then, in my cross section file, I look in my section views and they are completely different. When I try to label more points under the Code Set Styles, they won't even show up on my section views.

I have existing sections.
I have section views.
I created a corridor.
How do I add the corridor section to my existing cross-section in the section views?
I can view them in the corridor section editor. But I should also be able to add the corridor section to my section views, right?
To plot them, do I NEED to do this through Sheets Sets? I don't have experience with sheet sets yet.
I don't use Civil 3D often enough anymore. Still learning much about the new interface and pulling a design together.
I've got a corridor where the section editor does not show a section that the corridor has created. My frequency is set to 25' with high/low points along curves. At station 22+75, in the model space the corridor shows a section being created (image #2). However, I cannot edit or even see that section in the section editor (image #1). The first screen shot shows the list of stations for the corridor in the editor while the second screenshot shows the model space at the problem station. This is in the middle of a region, so there shouldn't be any issues with other assemblies or regions.
In the section editor, Sta 22+74.91 is listed, skips 22+75, then lists 23+00. I am needing to manually adjust the cross slopes of my lanes. If I view the surface there is a weird dip because at station 22+75 the default slope of my lane is -2%. I cannot edit station 22+75, so I cannot adjust the cross slope of the lanes.
What is causing the section editor to not even recognize a section? How can I edit the cross slope at station 22+75 if the editor doesn't even display that section?
