Is it possible to have an Assembly and/or Presentation as a drawing (.dwg) with a Visual Style of Shaded with Edges? In particular my black .ipt parts look just fine with white/grey edges except when placing the view in a drawing.

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I double-click on a component in an assembly to edit it, the rest of the assembly becomes transparent (or translucent is a more accurate term). Is there a way to create a visual style (or use some other method) to make the entire assembly translucent like this, just as I'm working with the assembly performing all the usual assembly-type operations? For example, I can operate under the "Shaded" visual style, or the "Wireframe" visual style, or the "Monochrome" visual style.
Is there some way to work with a "Translucent" visual style so that I can see the internals of my assembly as I'm placing parts, applying constraints, etc.?
How can you set by default the ''shades with edges'' visual style by default ? I always work with that visual style, I have to set it every time I open a part or assembly.

Customize menu anymore? "Shaded with Edges," is there, and my filter is set to all. I would like to have my hotkey back.

I am getting display of hidden edges (in fuzzy grey with shadows, like wireframe with hidden edges) while using shaded with Edges. At first they don't display, but when I pan zoom orbit, they show up to stay. When I switch to shaded with hidded edges, the same edges turn blue. When I switch to shaded, they completely disappear. So it's the Shaded with edges view that has this problem. I have also noticed it to be random files or some unknown commonality. Files were created using Inventor 2013. I'm not running Express mode, which is much fuzzier.
I did not see this during beta testing. I have a Radeon HD 5990 (2GB) - running like a champ, Intel I7- 930, and 12GB ram running Windows 7 (ultimate) 64bit. Inventor 2013, and 2014 are both installed.
How do I get my part to be transparent in the "Realistic" view like it is with the"Shaded with edges"? This is what it looks like with the view style set to "Shaded with Edges". Notice how it is transparent and you can see thru the part.
Now when I switch to "Realistic", I get this. Anything that is behind this part is not visible.
I want to be able to see thru the part when in the reallistic visual style.
We have the following problem / bug and i was wondering if others can reproduce it.

When adding a new sub-assembly to an existing ipn, the newly added assembly doesn't have the + sign to expand it. (see image)
Steps:
1. create a part. (anything will do) - Part1
2. make an assembly and add Part1 a few times. - Assembly1
3. make another assembly and add Assembly1 a couple of times. - Assembly2
4. create a presentation file with Assembly2, add a tweak for good measure. - Assembly2.ipn
5. Save the ipn. (and any other unsaved files)
6. now go back to Assembly2 and add another instance of Assembly1.
7. look at the presentation again, if it's the same as our situation there shouldn't be a + next to the newly added instance.

Is it possible to modify code in a way so when it placed in top assebly it runs through entire assembly finds all Sheet Metal parts and applys Material prpperties/Sheet metal style according Material_SM parameter.

I like "Shaded with edges", and I want the edges black. I have set up the display to this setting in Application Options, Display tab (Use application Settings), and Settings button. Excellent, that's nice. (I have also mapped the num pad 6 to that style, along with 5 is Shaded with hidden edges, and 4 is wire frame).
However, In Inventor 2014 Dynamic simulation, the visual style defaults to "Shaded" (no edges). Ok, i can live with that, I guess. I'll just hit NumPad 6 and it looks good again.
Ctrl-Tab to another open file, make a change or two, come back to the DynSim and - hang on, where are my edges? I can just hit 6 again, but should I have to? I haven't ever seen this display property changed when changing between files before.
I am trying to do some minor animation with a shaded solid model. I have tried mslide and a script... this make s very jerky, flashing animation.
I tried a lisp routine to move the object in small increments, again the motion is very flashy and slow, as it appears to struggle perhaps with the shading.
I noticed doing a move command, and moving the same object manually, dragging the object around the screen with a mouse makes for pretty smooth motion. Way better than what I was doing.... Is there a way to do this programatically?

Also, when I try to switch to Realistic Visual Style, it will not allow me to. When I go into Application Options, Hardware, and try to set it for Quality it always goes back to Compatibility.
I have upgraded from 2012 to 2014 but there is a smaller list of visual styles for the Ilogc form. I used to set all forms to "iMaginary" but his is not an option in 2014. Is there a way to copy the form visual style from 2012 to 2014?

I am looking for a way to change the text style used by a table style with Visual LISP. So far I have been able to get the IAcadTableStyle object from the acad_tablestyle dictionary, but there is no property for text style. Is this even possible? Code and results are below.

We have some huge models and people seem to forget to change their visual styles back to 2D wireframe before saving and exiting drawings. Some models will crash on some workstations when trying to open in a rendered mode.
I found a lisp with a function that looked to set viewport visual styles. But it does not seem to be supported anymore. --> (vla-put-VisualStyle vport 1)
I created *.ipn file and I tried to record the animation AVI file. After I finished playing the animation, I can see the AVI file was created but with 0KB, the avi is empty and cannot open.
I have no problem to create AVI file in my laptop but have such problem in my office's desktop computer.
When I go to animate an assembly in presentation, it will let me set the camera in the sequence view, however I can't seem to find a way to delete the camera. I put too many cameras and now the animations making too many transitions between tweaks. Is there a way to delete the set camera?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a large assembly in Inventor Pro 2012 where I'm trying to show the installation process in Presentation. Since the sequences behave as opposite to an explosion, all the parts return to their original location after a tweak.
However if I am trying to show a jig that works in the installation process that I want to show being removed, how can I do that. In the assembly, the jig is constrained to the the part being installed, which makes it very difficult to show it being removed since the move happens first then it mates to the part during an animation. Any way to reverse the animation sequence?
I want to assign the viability and open part commands to the marking menu in the presentation environment, but they are always greyed out. They show in the drop down menu below it though??

I have exploded my assembly in a presentation file, but I have not been able to record it. I have recorded videos previously, but this time the record button simply does not stay pressed. I have tried recording the video as WMV and as AVI.

I've created a view in my presentation file and tweaked all my components to where I want them. How do I change the level of detail associated with a particular explosion already created? I know when you create the view you can select which representation and level of detail to use, but how do you change these after the exploded view is created?
