AutoCad 3D :: Creating PDF Of Shaded 3D Object With Smooth Edges
Dec 11, 2013
When I create a pdf of a shaded 3D object the pdf shows up with pixelated edges. Is there a way to create a pdf of a shaded 3D object with smooth edges as it appears on screen?

I need an image on my website with a transparent background. I first tried creating this as a gif, but it looked horrible over my website background image. Then I tried saving it as a png, which looked much better, but it has jagged edges. What is the right way to create a transparent image in PS so that it will have smooth borders? It is basically a circle, about 60 px wide, with a solid color in the center and a border of about 2 px. Nothing fancy. It looks perfect in PS but once I embed it on my page over the background image, it looks a mess.

How can you set by default the ''shades with edges'' visual style by default ? I always work with that visual style, I have to set it every time I open a part or assembly.

We just switched from 2013 to 2014. I had "Shaded with Hidden Edges hotkeys to "q" in 2013,but now it's not in the
Customize menu anymore? Â "Shaded with Edges," is there, and my filter is set to all. Â I would like to have my hotkey back.Â

Inventor 2014,
I am getting display of hidden edges (in fuzzy grey with shadows, like wireframe with hidden edges) while using shaded with Edges. At first they don't display, but when I pan zoom orbit, they show up to stay. When I switch to shaded with hidded edges, the same edges turn blue. When I switch to shaded, they completely disappear. So it's the Shaded with edges view that has this problem. I have also noticed it to be random files or some unknown commonality. Files were created using Inventor 2013. I'm not running Express mode, which is much fuzzier.
I did not see this during beta testing. I have a Radeon HD 5990 (2GB) - running like a champ, Intel I7- 930, and 12GB ram running Windows 7 (ultimate) 64bit. Inventor 2013, and 2014 are both installed.

I tried the following in Illustrator,
So basically, I created coloured text inside Adobe Illustrator and however much I zoom into the text, the text always appears to have smooth edges. Once I click on 'Save For Web', the edge all around the text becomes rough and aliased. I chose GIF and PNG, but it still happens. The text is on a transparency background. The same problem applies to images when I am creating a logo.

How do I get my part to be transparent in the "Realistic" view like it is with the"Shaded with edges"? This is what it looks like with the view style set to "Shaded with Edges". Notice how it is transparent and you can see thru the part.
Now when I switch to "Realistic", I get this. Anything that is behind this part is not visible.
I want to be able to see thru the part when in the reallistic visual style.

I have an interesting question here - How should I try to shaded render this syringe so that a plunger can be seen underneath the translucent body? I need to have the gradiations and labels of the millileters be plainly black.
OR
is there a way to keep those gradations black while rendering an illustration and have the plunger visible beneath the body?
The gradiations are cut into the body of the syringe in this model, and the surfaces of the gradiations are changed to black.
Have been adjusting the color styles - but perhaps I'm missing something. Making the material translucent just fades the gradiations on the syringe, I'd like.

I'm trying to smooth the edges of an image I have. Would like to try two things.
First is,- simply smooth the edges (this is an image with people in it, and not a shape,-so I don't get the wanted effect when I do "Gaussian blur" as the whole image is being blured).
Another thing I would like to achieve is i.e. having a 600*800 image(white background) with a smaller image in the middle. Then somehow manage to blure the edges of the image and by using a gradient colour to make the blured edges cover the empty area around the pic as well... (The gradient to start at the edge on each corner of the pic and finish at outer edges of 600*800 image)..
Also, is it possible to draw a frame? Have a pic which I would like to create a tilted frame around (CTRL+T). Only manage to draw a coloured square/circle, then having to cut out the middle of the square to see the image on the layer beneath.
Created a new style in "Layer style", but where do I find this saved style?..

I use a stencil just with straigh tlines. When using that stencil on a cube or plane it works like a charme. The edges look smooth and like a perfect cut.
Â
The cube below has about 98.000 polys.
Â
when I do the same thing on a base shoe model, the edges do not look good anymore.
Â
even by increasing the poly count to 4 millions.. the edges are not smooth anymore.
Â
I double checked the base geometry of the shoe. it's all in qauds, and the edge flow is very nice done.
- how can I make sure that the lines will appear as smooth and nice like shown on the cube ?

In GIMP 2.8, I've been having a great deal of trouble getting good edges around elements that must be overlaid onto new items.
Such items seem to need (a) a progressive blur around the edges and inward to its center, and (b) a decreasing opacity from the edges and inward toward the center.
I cannot figure out how to satisfactorily achieve this. I use this all the time, but now in 2.8 I cannot. (The only "solution" I can think of is using a fuzzy brush around the entire perimeter, but that does not blur it, and, of course, it takes forever....there's no point in even having a matte if you're going to do it manually!)

I am a novice in photoshop and I've been trying to accomplish what seems to be an easy process. I received an illustrator file of a logo that I'm trying to work on...it has several issues that I'm trying to fix...in photoshop how to use illustrator. My major issue is recoloring parts of the image while keeping the edges smooth. It's currently brown and I just need it black. I have tried the following methods:
Â
-Magic wand the brown part and create a new layer via copy
-using brush to simply paint over it
-using paint can to fill the selection - anti aliased, I've changed the tolerance a million times
Â
-Use straight paint brush to trace over it, using a soft edge brush
-my hand isn't steady enough to do it
Â
-Magic wand and create new layer then do and over lay
Â
-Converting it to black and white
   -it turns gray

I have been creating circles on a transparent background. When I applied logo on one of my images I notice little white doted edges. I see little white dots. What is the best way to create clean edge on transparency backgrounds?

How do you smooth the edges of your shape? I'm hoping there is a 1-2 step process. Everywhere I look on the internet is a 6-7 step process for doing this basic task.

I have a regular 1024x768 image and I want to grab a piece of it say 780x125 for my Website logo. Well I use the rectangular marquee to get that exact piece, go to Modify -> Smooth edges to 10 pixels so now all four edges are pretty smooth. Problem is I only want the two top edges smoothed out, I want the bottom ones plain with pointy edges, what will I have to do to achieve that?

How can I get smooth rounded edges?
Let's say, for argument, I want a "square" with rounded corners. So I take the shape tool at 50px radius and draw my square. Right off the batt, the round parts look like utter junk.
What other technique could yield a better corner?
Also note that I can take the blur tool and blur the corners so they are somewhat nicer, but then if I put a shadow on the box, you can clearly see the shadow doing weird things on the blured part. Obviously, with all the beautiful PS images out there, smooth rounds are easily obtainable, not these wildly pixelated corners the shape tool gives me.
What can I do that can be as easy as the shape tool?

I have this cylinder (purple) that I want to cut into this smooth curved sheet.
I have thought about booleans but I don't understand why the stack closes and how to smooth the new sharp edges created when i do it.
How would you go about it?
The aim is to create a cylindrical opening in the sheet while maintaing the smoothing, while getting the edges themselves smoothed.
My stack is EditPoly, TurboSmooth, Bend, Box.

maybe it`s just that photoshop`s not the thing to use, but are there any ways to have nice smooth edges when making diagonal lines?
It`s puzzling that such an amazing program can't simply do this.

I am trying to create shapes in photoshop but they all seem to have rough edges. Is there a way around this? 1. I have been using the "rectangular marquee tool" to draw a square. 2. Filling it in with a color 3. Then to Edit > Transform > Skew. Then I pull in show corners, push some out. Now the edges look horrible.

what can i do to the image so that when it rests agains the background (which in this case is a repeated gradient "sliver" in the CSS {background-image: ..}) it doesn't "look" like it's just stuck there.?
my technique thus far is to simply make the area transparent around my intended visible content, and save-for-web, then choose png (for colors, or gif if it's simple) and wa-lah, i have my transparent image w/ clipping paths. (forgive my mangled jargon). i have tried doing things such as using blending layer effects > inner-shadow, or bevel/ emboss... which sometimes seems to help the problem a bit, but i'm sure there is a better way.
