AutoCAD Dynamic Blocks :: Variable To Change Dynamic Grip Parameter Size And Color

View 3 RepliesI have a dynamic block, that represents a stirrup.
I inserted in the block a Block Propreties Table, that have some preset dimensions for the stirrups. The grip of this table I decided to put in the top right corner.
The problem is that I can't make this grip moveable )
See the attachement with the block
I'm working on a dynamic door, that has specific parameters to change its size and orientation. Everything works pretty good, only the arc for the door won't react the way I want it.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have successfully created a dynamic block. I can insert it into AutoCAD, and it behaves like I want, except for one thing.
I can select the block and change it by taking a grippoint and place it at another position. So my block is e.q. stretched, just like I wanted.
But then. When I want to use the ordinary STRETCH command of AutoCAD, I can only stretch the insertion point of the block, but not the grippoints. Is there a way to set a grippoint to be select edable by commands like STRETCH.
I have a dynamic block with several actions and parameters. There are three grip points. Two are visible. One appears when you move one of the other grips. If i insert or paste this block near my template, the X/Y basepoint stays near the template when i drag the block on the template with one of the other two grips.. When i print the drawing the basepoint stays visible and the scale on my printed drawing is not correct (smaller).
View 9 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to have the grip stay in the correct position when the distance multiplier is .5? It seems to "get ahead" of the original location.
In the attached block, when I stretch the block with the grip, the grip ends up off the end point. Both actions have a .5 multiplier, with the left side having a rotation of 180 - so both sides stretch equally in opposite directions.
Also, there are 3 views with parameters (width/depth). Is there a way to get the user to enter in the sizes without having to select the size on each view? Basically a table that has a 'user input' field so the size selected changes everything at one time.
my dynmode is set to 0 so this obviously isnt the variable to turn this off. how to turn this off (see attached pic)
View 8 Replies View RelatedI need to use the dimension created by an action-parameter as a variable in a user defined function but AutoCAD will not allow me (see attached).
How may I access the action-parameter's dimension ?
I received some outsourcing drawings which include this block. All time if I try do some edits in block editor size of this block changed. Also if you reset this block, size changed. What is wrong with this block?
View 1 Replies View RelatedAny way to remove the alignment grip (the blue triangle / square thing) when you're creating a dynamic block?
I know you can remove the stretch grips and such, but I don't need an "alignment grip" and it's just another symbol that will confuse my users / clutter the block up.
A simple dynamic block using a Block Properties Table to control the value of an attribute. The block also has flip & rotate actions, but I cannot get the Block Table grip to flip or rotate with the rest of the block even though it is part of both selection sets.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHave dynamic block w/ Block Properties table. Can use table to change size of block by picking from dropdown list. Would like move (insertion) point of entire block to always remain exactly centered in block. Block is simply a rectangle. Have tried setting insertion point using point filters (.x of mid of horiz line, yz of mid of vert line, etc,) but all this does is assign an absolute value to the insertion point. When the size of the block changes, the insertion point remains where it was (absolute position).
Have tried creating a base point parameter, but it will not let me use geometric constraints to define position (coincident w/ endpoint) or add parametric dimension so cannot define location by using formulas (d2 =d1/2, etc). Have kludged it by using dummy point at 0,0 and "fixing" it.
Same thing for location of properties table - how do I tell it to attach the properties table grip "coincident" to the lower right corner of the rectangle so it follows the corner when the size changes?
Have attached what I have so far.
Ultimately want to also place the text "Case 1" "Case 2" etc as read from the properties table in the middle of the rectangle so that when I explode the block the text remains.
Exploring a new field in LT here, was wondering if it's possible to use a flip-grip kind of parameter to control the scale of an object, kind of like an on/off switch.
In this case I have a straight line that is about 15mm. What I want is to be able to click a grip and it disappears ( scales down ) and when I click it again it reappears ( scales up ).
I know that this is possible through a lookup parameter or just a similar effect with a stretch grip, But I want to be able to just click a grip like the one for Flip and it re/appears.
I'm having all kinds of trouble with these dynamic blocks.
This one should be simple, but I can't even get it to work! Please take a look at the drawing... when you flip it, it flips everything (as it should), but the stretch grip goes "up", instead of staying in the middle of the box in the flipped state.
I've made a dynamic block that consists of two lots of attributed text and has the alignment function in it but the alignment part doesn't work when looking through a viewport into modelspace ie i can move it by grapping the alignment grip point - it won't move at all. If i'm in the model tab the block works fine exactly how i made it. I'm the only person in my offie with 2011lt so i don't know if it is my computer or if it is a setting in 2011lt. It works fine in 2011 full and a few other versions around here aswell.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am working on a dynamic block that I figured would be fairly simple. However, it is proving to be a huge annoyance. What I want for it to do is stretch the end of a polyline with a stretch action, while at the same time moving the grip of my block properties table. No matter what I do to it, the block properties grip won't move/stretch.
View 4 Replies View RelatedHow do I manipulate a height parameter all of the dynamic blocks in the drawing from one single field? Say a field located in the drawing properties or on the drawing itself.
For example: Multiple blocks of different walls of same height with other blocks of things on located on those walls, dependant on the wall height, all linked to and changed by a single field. Possibly a Wall Height field located in the custom tab of the drawing properties.
I can pickout each of the blocks and change them at the same time in properites menu because they all share the same parameter name. I would just like to have that height parameter of every block in the drawing, that has that specific parameter controled by a single field. Which I could enter a new height at anytime that would change every block in the drawing to that height.
-you have a dynamic block with a grip that allows for any adjustable length.
-assume i need a the block to be 500mm long
-i stretch the block 500mm long in CAD (but it is still dynamic and will let me grip the length and adjust).
-after I insert it and set the 500mm length, can I somehow LOCK THE 500 LENGTH, so you cannot grip and edit the length anymore???? (but also have an unlock function for later)
This would be very useful in the following situation: Doing elevation view of a building with wall connections between floors....There would be MANY of these dynamic blocks....But they should all be the same length, per floor...But the next floor may have a different length....So I want to be able to Set Length > then lock in place... (and be able to unlock whichever I want, and adjust appropriately where the connection gets longer/shorter at another location...)
I would like to find a way to give a maximum and minimum length to a stretch (or move) but without absolute values.
simplified example of my block:
I have 2 squares, of which one big on, and a smaller one within the bigger one. I want to be able to stretch both squared indefinatly (no problem there), but the big square may never become smaller than the small one, and the small one may never become bigger than the big one...
In other words: the inside square should always stay inside the bigger one, no matter the size of the squares.
The problem with this block is that I have a hatch pattern between the squares, and as soon as i stretch the small square outside (or equal) to the big square... the hatch pattern 'crashes'.
I've got a block that has a couple of rotation parameters. The main one works OK. But the secondary one that is incremental and only 180 doesn't. Everything looks OK but the objects don't rotate according to the parameter but 90 degrees from what I think it should.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI need a rectangle block which on insertion prompts me for some data (name/tag/item number) and then displays it (this I can do). This is al pretty straightforward. But I also want to be able to fill in width and height and then have the block stretch to the correct size. So basically what I think I need is to have the value of a parameter refer to the value of an attribute. I've gotten it to work the other way around, where the attribute displays the size of one side of the rectangle (after stretching and regenerating), but I'd really like to have it working the other way.

What I'm trying to do is have a graphic scale with a set list of scales the user can pick from. This was easy using the Visibility Parameter.
However, I want to add a "custom" vis state where, once they select this option, the attributed definition box will pop up and give them the option to input whatever scale they are using.Check out the attached .dwg to see what I've done so far (I just have the attributes on the "custom" vis state).
Is it possible to link a parameter value to a function? I want text or attributes to never be "upside down".
If it is rotated with a rotation parameter the text would need to be automatically flipped or rotated if the angle is less than say >3*PI / 4 and < 7*PI/8.
Any way to change the order that the parameter properties appear in the property manager. Currently I think they are appearing in the order in which I placed them, but I would likr to re-arrange them.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been trying unsuccessfully for several days to achieve a stable setup for the attached. This is the closest I have been able to get so far but as you can see if you change the width then the rotation parameter, the stability of the block very quickly breaks down.
The problem seems to be associated with the move action which determines the center point of the angle parameter. It seems to only work properly when you change the width parameter and the rotate handle is in the 180deg. Any other position of the angle parameter results in incorrect alignment of the geometry.
The "Main Stretch" parameter does not correspond with the Block Properties Table. What does this parameter need to be attached to?The paramter will adjust with the pull down options of the Block Properties Table.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to create a block that has a stretch and array command, but I would also like to rotate each arrayed item indvidually. However I cannot select the rotate parameter as part of the array function, so the block end up only containing one rotate grip.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have 3 circles, randomly spaced. They will always be the same size. I want to resize them all about there centre points using just one parameter in the properties fly out. I've created individual linear/stretch for each circle, but I can't work out how to combine them.

Is it possible to rotate a line by using the length of a separate line? But the degrees of rotation need to be worked out by the length of the line
as in the following sum
angle of rotated line = (fixed number/360) * length of linear line

I am trying to be able to have my outreach arm stretch horizontally and on angles of 5 / 10 / 15 degrees from the pole. I have been able to make the polar stretch for this and it works fine though what i am trying to do is have the luminaire height also stretch and move when the size of the outreach changes (i can make the linear dimension work the way i want though not the luminaire parameter) as when you add the paremter into the stretch action is only moves the top and leaves the bottom at the same location which is not giving me the correct height.
The block itself is alot more complicated then this I have stripped most of the parameters out to make it less confusing but the end result would allow the user to input the outreach angle, outreach length and luminaire height. I have attached drawing for your reference.
