I am making use of some of the building models created using CAD. Since the models are added to virtual earth, I would like to get clarified for few of my doubts,
1) say, when the buildings of true representation on ground is made, whether any reference axis with respect to ground is considered to build the model?
2) How the scaling is made for the same model with respect to ground?
I have cut several sections at different points along a road alignment. The sections are cut facing the same direction as the alignmnet. Is there a way to reverse the section direction without changing the alignment direction?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a text file of several surveyed ponts throughout my model. I can select one of these points in my model and specify the coordinates of East/West, North/South, and elevation from this file, but how do I determine the angle from project north to true north from these surveyed points?
View 1 Replies View RelatedIn some templates I can't load a custom North arrow. AutoCAD can't find block.
The built-in north Arrows works fine. In a standard template from Autodesk there is no problem.
Wich settings should I change so I can select a block?
I would like to show a north arrow on my drawing, but i dont know where north is,
Does autocad know where it is, my site is in a very remote mountaineous area with nothing to reference off on goole earth or maps.
Every time I insert a north arrow it needs to be scaled up afterwards. Normally, scaling up by the same factor as the viewport that I select is about right.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using the Plan Production tools to create alignment drawings and when adding the north arrow during the process i get a error at the end stating @unable to align north arrow?
North arrow is a block and tried with base point and alignment parameters, unless i have missed something in the block creation? How do i create a north arrow block that will align with the layouts in plan production?
In the previous versions of civil 3d 2012 or earlier, I never had a problem with the view cube not staying pointed to the north. Since I never touched it in the past, how do I get it to stay pointed to the north?
View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm using C3D 2014.
When I create layouts using the "All layouts in the current drawing" option, the north arrow does not align to the viewport rotation.
But when I use "Number of layouts..." and "All layouts in one..." options, the north arrow block aligns correctly.
I am using the Dynamic North arrow that is linked to the viewport. It doesn't matter if I use an OOTB block or a custom one they all have a rotation of 355.4016.
The viewport is type "Plan", Dview twist is set to "0", USC is World. If I change the rotation on the block it rotates the viewport (as expected). The default block is not rotated.
BTW, It works fin in the default NCS, so it's something in my template.
Looking for a way to label two station on one alignment in a construction note.

Currently there are a total of 3 viewports in an L formation. The fourth viewport, will go in the upper right. But first, I have to get these aligned.
I think the viewports themselves are fine enough. The problems arise because the model is in Model space so, construction line (as far as I can tell) didn't want to snap to a line, (on the model,) in Paper space.(vertical or horizontal) So, I can only see the construction line, in one viewport at a time. Which means, the construction line is not visible in the viewport immediately to the left. So, I can't extend the construction line across both viewports, to to snap them to the construction line.
I'm working in C3D 2013. When I try to use the "invert clip" option in the IMAGECLIP command, it keeps clipping everyting outside the boundary rather than inside. I've tried both tiffs and jpegs. I've tried attaching the image through the xref manager. I've tried dragging the image into the file. I've also tried just using the CLIP command. It works on my coworker's computer.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI need to know if there is a way (like an expression) to get de height between invert out pipe and rim level?
My question is about a structure with 2 or more pipes at different level and needed to define the height for each one to the surface level (rim level).

I am trying to place my pipe invert labels at the actual point of the invert. When using the pipe label style composer, I have selected Anchor Point to be "Bottom Inner Diameter". Why is it that the label style still imports into the center of the pipe? No matter which anchor point I choose the label still inserts to the middle of the pipe. Is there a hidden setting that I am missing?

I'm currently setting up a band set and want to include a band "pipe invert depth" i.e. basically trench depth.
There are properites in the band label style composer for "pipe invert level" and for "cover" and for "pipe diameter" but not pipe invert depth. Is there a way to display the pipe invert depth relative to the reference (design) surface/alignment?
A secondary question to this is can you use basic arithmetic in the band label style composer? eg pipe cover + pipe diameter?
I'm creating pipe networks to represent existing utilities and am still a novice of Civil 3D.
I am creating sewer laterals that need to connect to the sewer main that I have already created. My problem is that I can't find a way to find out the invert elevation of the sewer main at the specific point that the sewer lateral will be tying in to. I no longer have an alignment or profile for the sewer main and I hope that I don't have to re-create them. I just want to pick a point on the pipe and have it tell me that vital information. Is there any way that I can do this in plan view?
I cannot find a way to only have pipes in profile view to only show the invert (bottom) of the pipe. All my pipes are running around the same elevation and the profile is pretty busy with both invert and crown of pipe shown.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm dealing with a city that based their drawings on LDD, and they chose to show pipes as just one line on a profile, representing the invert line. In LDD, they pretty much left their pipe profiles as "draft profile" or whatever is used to be called. Now I have to mimic their standard, using Civil 3D. There isn't a handy-dandy style setting that I can find, to do this.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIs there a way to remove the extra (In) and (out) invert elevation from my labels? If the IN or OUT (I.E.) is the same there is no need to label them twice. So, can I remove them? If you can remove them, how do you do it?
This is what I have

TOP=427.30
I.E.(IN)=421.60
I.E.(IN)=421.60
I.E.(OUT)=421.60
We are in the process of updating our pipe network structure label styles. The styles are displaying the inverts in a random order (Please see caption) & we'd like to show the inverts in descending order from highest pipe as first text string & lowest pipe as bottom text string. Is there a way to globally tell civil 3d to always use a descending invert order? Only fix we've found is to disconnect & reconnect the parts in order to adjust invert order.

I've attached an image of a storm drain invert label for a storm drain profile. As you can see, the middle manhole has all three inflow pipes labeled. Is there a way to only label the inverts of the two pipes shown in the profile view?

I am analyzing a culvert in a tidal zone which has an outlet invert level below the normal tidal range. The invert level of the culvert outlet is -0.520m, however Hydra flow Express Culverts will not allow a negative invert elevation to be entered.
View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have a big piping job coming up and as Civil3d still lacks some of the labelling abilities we want in the profile view bands. I am updating some old vba that adds a profile line of the invert of a pipe network to a profile view effectively tracing along the bottom of the network like I know a lot of people do by hand.
My original code works on assuming that the start and end structure are at the start and end of the alignment in the revised code I want to allow for situations where this is not the case.
Leading to my question is there and easy way to find the distance a profile view part is drawn along the parent alignment or do I have look at writing my own function possibly extracting a polyline from the alignment and finding the distance using intersectionwith and distancefrom functions with the structure.
Simple program that will adjust invert elevations of a pipe based on the cover depth.
I have a existing uitility maps that only label the the cover depths. I have to show these utility crossings in my profile views. I have different rules set up for various depths when laying out my crossing pipes in plan, but I need the ability to to edit the various cover depths more quickly. I am using Civil 3d 2012 only.
I have created a linetype with the text GAS OPTION in it. The line is continuous with a break around the text. In a straight line the linetype works fine (breaks around the text etc). However, when I use a polyline and spline the line for a curved line the text aligns with the direction of the line at the start, but when the line bends, the text suddenly changes direction and reads in the opposite direction. It looks like AutoCAD is trying to keep the text upright rather than following the direction of the line. When the text changes direction it also changes its insertion point and overlaps the continuous part of the line. I have 2013 AutoCAD.
Here is the string I used for the linetype.
*GAS_Option_LINE,Gas line ----GAS OPTION----GAS OPTION----GAS OPTION----
A,8,-15,["GAS OPTION",STANDARD,S=2.54,U=0.0,X=-2.35,Y=-1.27],-12

When I create a line label, one of the components available is “Direction Arrow”. This component is not available for “Curve” labels. I would really like to use C3D labels to indicate direction (I realize curves don't have a 'direction', but I don’t mind manually flipping and reversing the arrow). Is there any other label option in C3D that will draw a direction arrow for curves?
is there is any way to reverse the alignment direction
