AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Make Label In Model Space For Assembly Name?
Jul 20, 2010Is there a way to make a label in model space for an assembly's name? To keep track of which assembly is which, I have been creating a MTEXT object and just type it in below my assembly. I would like to know if there's a way to make a label just show up with the name so I don't have to create all these text items manually. This would be just for reference only, not used for any final plans.

Apr 25, 2013When using the perspective grid tool and type, I have a word on the right side of the grid in perspective, and I want to make a shadow of this word flat on the bottom grid. (Like how a tall building casts a shadow flat on the ground)
I tried using the shear tool to do it but it is a bit tricky getting it just right. There must be an easier way to do it within the perspective tool grid.
When I type the word and align it to the bottom grid, how do I rotate it whilst still being aligned in perspective on the bottom grid?If I try and rotate the word using the selection tool it rotates off axis so it is no longer laying flat on the bottom grid.
Words placed on the bottom grid always read from the left vanishing point - I want the word to read from the right vanishing point so it aligns with my word on the right grid wall.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Grid Volume - Changing Grid Spacing
Jan 18, 2012Understanding that composite volumes are typically more accurate, I have a reason to evaluate the volume between two surfaces via a grid volume. Easily created a grid volume surface using a 50' grid (50' is large for this site, but wanted to get a feel for calculation time).
Question: Can you change the grid size without creating a new grid surface? Ultimately I woud like to explore the difference in volumes based on grid sizing without creating a long list of surfaces. One would expect that you could chage the grid spacing in surface properties, but the values are non-editable.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Changing Profile Line Label Style Causes Label String To Revert To Default
Sep 6, 2012C3D 2013. We have profile line labels, some of which get manually edited (for example, change the "<[Tangent grade(FP|P2|RN|AP|GC|UN|SD|OF)]>" to a static number such as 0.29%).
However, if you CTRL+Click and select one of these labels and change the style of that one label, then the manual edits are lost and the label reverts back to the default string.
Is there any way to turn this behavior off?

Apr 29, 2012I have a number of older pictures in my library that don't have Capture Date in the metadata. Windows Explorer Propoerties typically shows info like this, for these files:
Created: Tues, Mar 11, 2009 <time>
Modified: Wed, June 12, 2002 <time>
Accessed: Thu, Sept, 13, 2006 < time>
In my experience, PSE assumes the "Modified" date as capture date with files like this. (A good assumption, for these pics Im looking at now.)
From what I can tell, LR also uses the "modified" date when sorting these pictures' thumbnails. And when I do Metadata > Edit Capture Date, it shows the Modified date as the Original (all good so far).
BUT, in Grid View of the Library module, I have View Options set to show capture date in the Bottom Labal, and here it shows the "Created" date. (So it like 2009 pictures are getting placed next to 2002 pics, in what's supposed to be a chronoligical sort.)

Nov 21, 2013When I create a grid from our OSIP DEM files the contours come in as a block. I usually do 1' and 5' contours. I would like to break these so that when I select a 1' contour it will show up individually with elevation data still attached. If you select one now, it selects the entire grid. If you explode it, you lose the grid file. Is there a way to do this or will a just have to label the contours so I know where I am at?

May 15, 2012We here at work have recently implemented using the survey database feature in CAD as a better way of manipulating and organizing points in our drawings. However, we have begun to notice a few issues with how the survey database imports points (?).
Sometimes, and I say sometimes because it is very sporratic, some drawings exhibit the issue and some do not, the points will be skewed off the linework (we are converting existing projects to the survey database). In these situations I find that the Northing and Easting don't match the ascii file it was imported from, instead the "Grid Northing" and "Grid Easting" do. Also, some drawings will have a slightly different Grid Northing and Grid Easting vs Northing and Easting, whereas some drawings will have the exact coordinates for both sets of fields. I believe the issue is one and same.
Our points handling goes like this, Data Collector--->TBC (where ground to grid and scaling is performed)---->exported to ascii file------>Imported to CAD.
This is very confusing and irritating at the same time, and really counterproductive to be troubleshooting why our points keep moving. Redrawing the linework is NOT an option, we'll sooner go back to simple ascii file imports (where the problem is NOT present) then have to redo all of our work on our projects.

Feb 4, 2013I keep getting the words "Label Text" being placed at 0,0 every time I insert a profile view into my drawing. Is there a simple way to change something in the settings to either not display this at all or sontrol how/where it is displayed? It is annoying when you do a zoom extents being you now get 2 small dots on screen, 1 being the actualy drawing at the correct utm cooridnates and the other being this piece of text down at 0,0.

Feb 15, 2013I have applied a client's style to the alignment to show PI's. In this case we have 2 alignments close to each other (NB & SB of road). PI's close to each other will then overlap. What I would like to do is apply a style that will have the line and text go exactly in the opposite direction. I am trying to avoid dragging the text as that seems to bring up several more issues. I am looking for whatwhere to change within the style editor to make this happen.

Aug 2, 2011I'm trying to make a product label and am having trouble with what appears to be some limitations with the program. The Text feature does not allow me to highlight text and put only specific words in BOLD, what it does is it places everything in bold. It would also be nice if you could create a layer to come back and resize/reposition the text box later --By searching here it appears that that is in the works for the next version so that's good. This selective BOLD issue though - not cool, even MSPaint can do that. Adding the textbox outline would aso be a good.
I have not had good luck transferring over text from other programs.

Apr 18, 2012I'm having troubles using the create points on grid command. When I run the command, I keep getting asked to type in the point description for each point. I have about 5000 points to create.
Is there a way to set a description for all the points, so I don't have to do this manually?
