Apr 30, 2012I am trying to create a label for slopes in cross sections for a surface created from breaklines using gade breaks as you can not weed segment labels
I am weeding the labels out based on the change in grade of the section profile and making the label text high very small of the labels I do not want to see. But the first label returns ??? because there is no grade coming in so I get ??? instead of something usefull like null. Any way to convert?? to something you can evaluate and use.

Nov 22, 2011We have created sections from our corridor. We see FG and EG, we can use bands for EG from surface. How do we get the FG band to show the elevations for FG? The only option we have is the EG surface. We have tried to create a surface form the corridor in the corridor properties but that surface still doesn't show up in the surface list in the bands. I would have thought this info would be dynamic and come directly from the corridor would it not?

Jun 6, 2013I am looking for either a corridor style or surface style to display slopes while in plan view while working on a corridor. I know you can turn on slope arrows as a surface style, but I am actually looking for the grade to be displayed next to a slope arrow. Hopefully I am explaining it properly.
I just am looking for a better way to spot errors before putting surfaces into machine control without checking station by station in the section editor.

Dec 15, 2008I have an existing ground profile, and a design profile. All I want to do is label the slopes of the design. When I click my line label style and turn on the text it labels the existing ground and the design ground. I cannot find the setting in my two profile styles to turn the slopes off in the existing ground.
Oh, how can I get a tick on the V.C. dimension line?

Jun 7, 2012I have sevreal corridors with various spurs. The contractor wants the cut/fill volume in sections along the corridors, not one big cut/fill calc. Is there a way to do this in C3D? I have got the volume table with the chainages on, but he does not want a cumulitive figure for the whole corridor.

Feb 28, 2013I have a corridor with 2 intersections. It is more or less like a main road with an off-ramp and an on-ramp, both on the same side, with a big triangle shape island in between them. It involves an existing road widening and a connection with another existing road. Since it is a real scenario, the intersections aren't perfect 90 degrees nor the offsets are constant.
Create Western intersection and change offset and curb return targets to design aligments.Create Eastern intersection and change offset and curb return targets to design alignments.Model the corridor as per design requirements.Due to design constraints, I ended up removing both intersections. I didn't delete all the offset and curb return alignments although they're not targeted on any region. Deleting this alignments seems to make C3D crash. the actual intersection definition hasn't been removed, as I read on other threads. I kept on getting a couple of error messages on Panorama Event Viewer every time I rebuild the corridor.
So, the problem comes when I try to output the cross sections from this nice looking corridor. They all look fine until they reach the intersection area. From the intersection onwards, the corridor is not displayed on any cross section. Even way passed the western intersection.
Why the corridor doesn't display on the cross sections passed the deleted intersections?I have a bad feeling that removing the intersection wasn't a good idea in the first place but it's too late now.

Jul 30, 2012I have a corridor with two baselines, one on the south side of the road, and one on the north side. The south baseline appears correctly in the section view. It is an asphalt bike trail with a ditch to the left side. The north baseline was not appearing at all. The assembly was just a ditch with nothing else. I changed the north baseline to use the same assembly as the south to troubleshoot. The pavement comes in, but the ditch still does not appear.
I can see the ditch feature lines on my corridor (see attached), but they are not appearing in the section view.

Jul 24, 2012I have created a proposed centerline along my existing roadway, which represents along my profile. I have created an assembly for my proposed raod with a crown, and a 2% cross-fall in each direction.
But when I generate my sections, all my proposed assemblies show up in the proper location on my section views, except there is no cross-fall showing on any of them? They are all being shown in my sections as dead flat! 0%? I've been looking for a setting to change this.? I have also deleted, and recreated my corridors and regenerate my sections, only to get the same results!

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Corridor In Cross Sections Not Updating Automatically (2014)
Jul 11, 2013When opening a drawing that has corridor model xrefed in, the corridor section is not updating automatically.
If I reload the xref, it updates.
If I manually synchronize the alignment, it updates.
But just opening the drawing, it does not update.
I have even tried using the OTB tutorial drawings. Same problem.
Not having cross sections update automatically?

We have an urban divided highway resurface and widen project. We have an eastboiund and westbound corridor we would like to get to display on our single set of cross sections
We originally set up our corridor to do the widening and ditches portion and then went on to do the work to set up the model to do the resurfacing. When we did the sections for the ditches only they displayed fine. Now that we have the resurfacing incorporated into it the ditches no longer display.
we have reviewed the targets of our assemblies, we have reconstructed the cross sections, to no avai. The software is not doing us any good right now. Need to get smarter

Aug 13, 2013I've been working on a proposed ditch relocation.
I made an alignment, profile, build an assembly with it's constraints (2:1 until a certain elevation and then 3:1 to the existing ground), and made a surface from that corridor.
Now i wanted to know this : How do i generate a polyline with the assembly information ?

Jan 3, 2013When editing the Cross Section Styles the Horizontal Axis changes do not take affect. Vertical will work as entered.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Corridor Section Editor Data Overrides Not Displaying In Cross Sections?
Jan 9, 2014I have added intermediate sample lines in my corridor. These sections appear in the section editor and I can make changes to the data. The changes show correctly in the section editor and section view, however, when I plot the cross sections some of these added stations do not show the overrides. They are showing the original assembly group parameters. How do I get all the cross sections to reflect the edited data from the section editor?

May 13, 2013My company had always used LDD until we were mandated to switch, our first project in Civil 3D is in the works. So far we have gotten through the beginning stages (alignments, profile, corridor, assemblies) but we are having a major issue with where to go from there. Right now I am trying to complete the design line work on the plan (wheelchair ramps, driveways transitions and signage) As of now I cannot get anything to line up easily with the corridor. I have been able to snap to the corridor so I can create a line at that exact spot to be correct, but then when I offset it will not change the elevation, I tried doing feature line and projecting the feature lines to the surface and some of it works but it becomes very buggy. My transition lines don't transition and some other lines I would expect to be at the same elevation have major grade changes. How to create the luinework at the correct elevation and with correct transisions along your corridor and surface?

Jan 9, 2013i'm trying to label pipe networks in my section views. i hit the 'entire network section' option and it just labels 1 pipe in 1 section. i would think it would label the 1 pipe in every section or every pipe in 1 section. is this how it's supposed to work? is there a workaround?

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Turn Off End Alignment Label In Plan?
Jun 27, 2012I am working in C3D 2011. The end station on my alignment is 163+02. The last major station label is 163+00. The label text overlap. I want to turn off the end label of 163+02. The end station is not checked in my Alignment Style or in the Geometry Points style. I am assuming there is a command in the Settings/Alignment/Commands that is overriding the changes I have made in individual styles. I have found some post concerning this from 2004 but they do not seem to be applicable in 2011.
