AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Toolspace Item View Not Working Properly
Jul 20, 2012
I'm having trouble viewing a list within Toolspace Item View. When I click the item in the tree nothing shows up in the item view. There should be a list of all my parcels but there is not. Graphical view works fine. List view works fine with other items in my tree except for my parcels. Also, when i right click parcels and click refresh I can see the list genereate in item view but then it quickly disappears.
in 2013 anyway) that if you have two drawings open and the Toolspace set to 'Master View', the settings tab should always default to the drawing you're not editing. I didn't want to hijack that thread to ask my question. We're deploying C3D 2014 "soon" -- does the above is still true in 2014?
I use Autodesk Architecture and Civil 3D. I usually print projects sheets that contain both civil and architecture form Architecture, but occassionly print sheet sets through civil 3d.
Recently, I have had a problem with one hatch pattern available to Architecture but not civil 3d not printing properly through c3d. I added a support file search path to my c3d to point to location of architectural hatches, but the problem did not go away.
I was given a horizontal centerline of a 5 mile bike path. We have to stake all the even stationing every 50 feet and all the VPC's and VPT's with vertical elevation. I have created the horizontal profile and also the vertical profile including all the vertical curve information. Is there an easy way to incorporate the elevation information back into the plan view so I can create points that carry x,y & z points that I can transfer out of autocad as a .txt file so we can upload it on our gps equipment?
At times, my Tool space box will go blank. By this I mean that all items in all tabs can't be seen (Prospector-Points, Point Groups, Point Clouds, Surfaces, ....). This also happens at times in the Import Survey Data>Import Options (last box). I need to exit C3D and re-open for it to show up. Seems to happen at random when using the box.
I just began learning AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014. I inadverdently entered an extra survey name in the survey databases. I cannot find any way to delete an entry that I don't want. This entry is in the "Survey" tab in the toolspace. I tried to start a new drawing in hopes it would give me a clean toolspace, but it keeps showing the same information.
When I open Civil 3D 2014, my prospector will be off, If I open it, my screen splits as if it were two vertical viewports. Prospector appears in only the top one, which does not respond.
Here's a screen cap
I've been opening old drawings that don't seem to have this problem, and then creating new drawings. Is it possible that this has something to do with a dual monitor setup?
I dragged a surface style from another drawing into the drawing I am having issues with. The Issue is that after inserting the style the Prospector and Settings are not expandable. The Prospector check box is grayed out and there are dots in front of the Settings tab.
Basically I can't expand either the Prospector or the Setting to edit surfaces, alignments, styles, etc.
Set up the settings tab in Toolspace to always skip to display the drawing that I'm not working in? I just spent half an hour creating expressions in the wrong drawing,
I have binded an alignment drawing into another drawing. I am still able to use the alignments for calculations however they do not show up in toolspace. What is the reason for this? Can i export the alignments and import them without having issues now?
I am making a drawing in which I have an assembly of multiple parts and one subassembly. I already have my bill of materials on the drawing also. Can I now show details of each of the parts by calling them out by their item number on the BOM? I realize that I could simply insert another base view of the individual part, but I would rather they be pulled directly by their item number on the BOM. This would be ideal so that the view could automatically be labeled "item 1.1" or "detail 1.1" instead of manually having to insert that text.
At my company, we do a large amount of work with sheet metal parts and assemblies. On our drawings, we like to do "detail" views of the flat patterns of each part of the assembly. Basically, how we do it now is insert a base view of the assembly and the BOM onto the first sheet and then on separate sheets, we place base views of the flat patterns for each of the components that will be cut on our cnc plasma table. We use the item number to denote which part it is in the assembly. Is there any way to pull the item number from the assembly BOM and use it as a parameter that can be inserted into the view label? Right now, it's a nightmare if the assembly BOM is modified because we have to go back in to each view label and manually change the item number.
My right click sudenly doesnt open shortcut-menu? I went to options and right click customization and everythings fine there. Didnt touch anything at all!
I am currently using AutoCAD 2012 and having problems with the STRETCH command. When I select 3 lines, then deselect 1 of them lines and then select the STRETCH command it does not stretch the selected lines.
Now this is the way I have done in it in previous versions and it has worked. (AutoCAD 2010). Our Company has recently moved to 2012.Is this a function that has been removed with this version or am I doing something wrong?
I am using Inventor 2009 professional and I have to run a stress analysis on a beam. I put the constraints and the forces I need and when I hit the calculate button, the results so up, but when I click on the results, nothing appears. I need to run this calculation and do not want to resort to hand calculations.
I am having problems with quick select not working properly in 2013 when I am cleaning up X-Refs selecting hatcing or anything else it does not just delete what I am tring to select it just deletes everything. If I go back to any prevous version of AutoCAD it works fine the only solution i can think of is to reinstall.
On ACAD versions higher than 2005 the STRETCH command does not work properly. The problem happens when selecting the items from the left to right. The item is MOVED instead of STRETCHED. It works normally when selecting item from Right to Left. However I need it to work from Left to Right so that I can individually select the item that I want to stretch. Because of this, I am still using 2005. Both 2009 and 2012 have this BUG, making them un-usable for my applications. I just got a new computer with 2012 version only, but I can't use it. I am trying to get 2005 installed on it now.
Recently I have started having this annoying problem where I select something and it shows it is selected by the grip but in reality it hasn't selected it as can be seen in the properties box.
Cancelling the selection with the ESC key doesn't work
regen doesnt' work
regenall doesn't work
audit doesn't find anything
Qsave does work but I would prefer not to use it due to sharing drawing xrefs with others means that they constantly have to keep reloading the xrefs
Have tried reinstalling autocad but that doesn't make it work.
Currently have a NVIDIA Quadrow 3500 which is probably not the correct one.
I'm having problems with the crop feature in an Inventor idw. Having cropped my view I then go into the browser to edit the crop (edit sketch), the lines on the crop window will not move and I am unable to edit the selection, why is this not working ? Occasionaly I can move / resize one or two of the crop boundry lines but never all of them.

I am trying to create an action to create a new layer by copying the bg layer, add a layer mask to the new layer and then start the Tilt Shift filter. All works until I go Insert Menu Item and choose Blur>Tilt Shift. It just doesn't get added to the action. Other menu items do work. I'm assuming this is an oversight in the implementation of CS6?Can't see that that can be the case.
I have an assignment in school in which we are going to calculate the number of needed rivets and their dimensions to join two pieces of aluminum with the dimensions 5x50x200mm together.
I've created the sheet metal and imported two of them into an assembly along with 8 rivets from the content center with the appropiete dimensions. In comes my problem. I planned on running a stress analysis and pasting the pictures of the results in my report. However, I have a feeling that the stress analysis tool isn't working as it should.
No matter what force I'm applying to the sheet metals, and no matter what material I assign to the different parts, including the rivets, the results, the deformation and force applied to the rivets, are roughly the same.
I've applied a force of 12700N to the two short sides of the sheet metals:
The two sheet metals are also fixed on the opposite side of the forces:
When I paste an item in the assembly, the item is thrown off in space. It places it so far away that it is not even in the view window. I have to stop what I doing, do a find in window and then drag it close to where I need it. Then I can start constraining it.
Why does it not place the item at my coursor location like it used to?
I have this simple dynamic block that is to change from 4" to 6" to 8" square. I have a linear parameter, 0 grips, and a Lookup function for 4, 6 or 8. It is supposed to scale about the midpoint (insertion point). I have tried both the Midpoint and Startpoint settings for Base Location but it always seems to scale from the far left of the Linear Parameter.
I have been using the frame generator quite often and recently the insert frame command is not working properly. I would like to know if there is a fix/patch for this problem or do I have to re-install the program? I am very frustrated with this problem as I do alot of structural design and the insert frame command comes in very very handy.
"make components" has worked flawlessly for a few years until today.
I have a part with 47 individual solid bodies. When I select all the bodies and hit the "make components" tool about 2/3 of the bodies deselect and are not included in the list to be sent out to parts. While in the command, I cannot select them in any way. However, I can open one of the derived parts that are created and edit to select one of the bodies that refused to work in the make components command. While this is a workaround im not looking forward to doing this to 30+ parts.
When I create a new sketch on any given view and utilize the 'Project Geometry' command, not all geometry will project onto the sketch. It seems random; I've tried multiple times using different orders in which to choose the geometry. Sometimes certain geometry will project, sometimes not.
In the process of releasing 2013 to the office. We have about 60 machines being loaded, varying from 64-bit Win 7, 32-bit Win 7 and 32-bit Win XP. I have gone through and created new PC3 files for our two KIP printers (3000 & 7000 series). I added one custom page size to each to create a PMP that goes along with them. These files have been placed onto a network folder for all users to access. This is where my confusion begins.
When other users go to utilize these files it is giving an error stating that "the plotter configuration cannot be found, driver cannot be found, device cannot be found, yada yada. The none has been substituted."
So we began to look at the PC3 files and see what the issues are. When the same file on the Server is copied down to a local machine it changes back to a KIP10 driver down from a KIP11 driver on the network. Make Sense?
In order to fix I began running the "Add-A-Plotter Wizard" on the local machine. Created a new PC3 wiih a different name and went back into the program. Now the PC3's that did not work before WORK.
In short, since the 2013 version has a new file format do we have to run the "Add-A-Plotter Wizard" on all local machines before the standard PC3 file will work effectively? Or does having 2011 version still on the machines have an effect on these files?
