AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Toolspace Split Screen Glitch?
Aug 27, 2013
When I open Civil 3D 2014, my prospector will be off, If I open it, my screen splits as if it were two vertical viewports. Prospector appears in only the top one, which does not respond.
Here's a screen cap
I've been opening old drawings that don't seem to have this problem, and then creating new drawings. Is it possible that this has something to do with a dual monitor setup?
I've been using paint.net as is for years and never even knew downloadable plugins for it exist till now. I suddenly find myself drowning in things my beloved paint program can do. I like this effect and wonder if there is a plug in for it.
This website has an online tool that creates it [URL]
Im hoping i can get the look in paint.net. I've got some totally sweet results glitching some of my landscape pictures of the desert but it wond render anything large enough to use as wallpaper.
At times, my Tool space box will go blank. By this I mean that all items in all tabs can't be seen (Prospector-Points, Point Groups, Point Clouds, Surfaces, ....). This also happens at times in the Import Survey Data>Import Options (last box). I need to exit C3D and re-open for it to show up. Seems to happen at random when using the box.
I just began learning AutoCAD Civil 3D 2014. I inadverdently entered an extra survey name in the survey databases. I cannot find any way to delete an entry that I don't want. This entry is in the "Survey" tab in the toolspace. I tried to start a new drawing in hopes it would give me a clean toolspace, but it keeps showing the same information.
in 2013 anyway) that if you have two drawings open and the Toolspace set to 'Master View', the settings tab should always default to the drawing you're not editing. I didn't want to hijack that thread to ask my question. We're deploying C3D 2014 "soon" -- does the above is still true in 2014?
I'm having trouble viewing a list within Toolspace Item View. When I click the item in the tree nothing shows up in the item view. There should be a list of all my parcels but there is not. Graphical view works fine. List view works fine with other items in my tree except for my parcels. Also, when i right click parcels and click refresh I can see the list genereate in item view but then it quickly disappears.
I dragged a surface style from another drawing into the drawing I am having issues with. The Issue is that after inserting the style the Prospector and Settings are not expandable. The Prospector check box is grayed out and there are dots in front of the Settings tab.
Basically I can't expand either the Prospector or the Setting to edit surfaces, alignments, styles, etc.
Set up the settings tab in Toolspace to always skip to display the drawing that I'm not working in? I just spent half an hour creating expressions in the wrong drawing,
I have autocad 2000i and can't open two drawings on the same screen. The book I am reading currently is autocad 2002: no experience required. In the book it as to open the drawing that I am currently working on and a new drawing after, then choose window>tile vertically. That doesn't seem to work for me. Also, when I click on window ther is only the active file on list instead of two or others that I have previously opened. I think I am stuck. Maybe there is something to change in the options for the allowance of more than one file to be on the list so then it would become possible to allow a split screen of two different drawings.
FIGUERED IT OUT! tool>options>system>single-drawing compatability unchecked.
I am working in paper space having more than six viewports which are arranged vertically. When I am checking for alignment, I need to pan more. To avoid this, is it possible to split the screen for the same file while working in paper space?
I have binded an alignment drawing into another drawing. I am still able to use the alignments for calculations however they do not show up in toolspace. What is the reason for this? Can i export the alignments and import them without having issues now?
I just loaded Gimp 2.8 from 'ppa:otto-kesselgulasch/gimp' with the idea of using the 'all-in-one' new arrangement. I am using Mint 13 Maya and the new gimp interface is not yet in the repository.
That said, having opened the 'new' gimp I see the docks arrangement is a bit different. Whereas there used to be two docks one on either side of the drawing area, now the right hand dock is split screen.
The problem is that just for say the colour wheel it uses loads of screen space. I know I can toggle between 'all-in-one' and multi-mode but they both have a split screen for the docks on the right.
I don't see any obvious way to move the colour wheel dock back to where it has been under the toolbox and brushes docks.
Maybe this is a fixed arrangement in 2.8, if so I will have to go back to my Mint 13 native version.
i'm trying to link my edl with the correct clips. So when i got a green check icon , indicating that smoke have found the matched clip. But before i link it i just want to make sure that it's the correct clip. So in the bin, the clip is highligted and i double click it to open it up in the viewer. The problem the viewer split control is disabled so i can't do split screen to match that clip with the guide/offline (in the edl sequence i've inserted the guide movie). all i can see i have to link it first then go back to timeline and now i can view in split screen.
I have an alignment that I want to break at a point and delete the rest of the alignment after this same point. I used the 'delete sub- entity' icon on the Alignment Geometry toolbar. How can I successfully split the alignment?
I am drawing a few feature lines within my surface and it is creating split points.....not even sure how they are created and how do I get rid of them....is there a way? I read a little about them and what I have read so far indicates that it is a point where two feature lines cross? I don't have another feature line created anywhere near this one.
I've been trying to use the automated plan & profile production tools with 2010, but haven't quite gotten the final product I wanted so I've resorted to manually setting up my own "viewframes" to align my viewports with. However, when I snap to either the top right of my profile view or the bottom right of my profile view, Civil 3d automatically crashes. This makes creating closed rectangular polylines to act as "viewframes" around my profile view very frustrating since at some point or another I'll forget to turn osnap off and blam!, civil3d is gone. It only happens with split profile views and it only seems to happen at the right side of the profile. It doesn't seem to happen at splits. It has happened in 2 different drawings. It has happened with different profile view styles.
Update: It only happens when Node is enabled in OSNAP so I can Node and be fine, at least until the next day I forget to disable Node while doing something near a profile.
I do a lot of visualization work I need a corridor top surface split by material FAST. before I used Corridor Solids but I don't have the extension in 2013. So I export to CivilView, so far so good, then attempt to roundtrip the mesh back in Civil3D and that is where things fall apart.
Export to DWG is not split by material
Export to 3DS results in a blank screen
Export to FBX comes in missing large chunks of mesh out of scale and in the wrong location
I received a file from another office which had a split profile. The only issue that my project manager and I have with it is that the profile lines themselves run from station limit to station limit, and therefore the profile lines run through the vertical (elevation) numbers. Is there a way to adjust the vertical (elevation) grid marks to clean this up?
I have been using various versions of VideoStudio for years to successfully edit videos for courtroom presentations, but this is the first time I have been asked to create a video using two videos playing simultaneously or a side by side image. The first video is a surveillance camera video of a traffic accident, and the second video is a video of a reconstruction of the accident recorded later on the same surveillance system. Even though we can play the videos separately in court, the prosecutor is asking whether or not there is a way to combine both videos into one final product, thereby showing the actual accident side by side with the recreation.
I made all my polygons with the same technique but somehow interactive polygon split tool does not split all polygons... I attached a file with which I have problem. Split tool just "disappears" after submitting changes...
I'm here with 2013 SP2 64 bit Build 200 and two screens. Left screen is graphics area, Browser is on the left of right screen. Graphics is ATI Fire Pro V7800 with driver 9.3.3.3000.
In video (zipped MP4) you see a cutout of both screens, think of screens changing at the left of the browser.
Now, in many cases, after doing an operation, the browser is jumping back to the middle of my graphics in the left screen.
I have a file thats doing something wierd, when I open it I can see the layouts just fine, the existing viewports show linework from model space. However, when I switch to the model space tab I don't see anything, my mouse cursor dissapears when I move it over the drawing area but reapears when its moved over the ribbon or the prospector/command prompt. Also, when I create a new layout with a new viewport, nothing is displayed in the new viewport. It's like the program cant regen the view? When I went into one of the existing viewports and zoomed out I could see all the linework in model space but when I switch to the model tab it won't show any linework or the UCS indicator or my mouse cursor!?!
When using the TXTEXP command to explode text in Map 2012, the resulting text/lines are 1/12th their original size and automatically move to a different location (see the attached jpg). This behavior occurs in all drawings being edited in Map 2012 (my colleague who is still using 2011 has no problems exploding text, and neither did I until I upgraded to the new version...)
Although the results are odd, they seem to be consistently odd in that 1) the text is always scaled down by 1/12th, and 2) the text/lines always move to the upper right hand portion of the view screen (Model or Paper space, doesn't matter), right below the Minimize/Restore Down/Close icons. Using the explode text command via the ribbon vs. typing it makes no difference. Fiddling with the original text properties (i.e. making it annotative, changing the orientation or Z coordinates, etc.) also makes no difference in the resulting lines.
