AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Intersection Surface Error
Apr 5, 2013My corridor surface randomly bounces from top links to bottom links through the intersections even though I specified top links only and my corridor is modelling correctly.
Previously I just deleted the surface and recreated it with no errors but it doesn't seem to work now. This happens with both manually created intersections and ones created with the intersection tool.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Corridor / Intersection Surface / Modeling
Mar 13, 2012I have 2 roads crossing, and I have created the 2 corridors, and an intersection object created. I split the 2 corridor regions and put the intersection in, and then closed back in the regions to the start of the intersection object (region). Now - how do I make that all one corridor object that reacts to either of my profiles, and is only one corridor surface? - the corridor surface ignores my region boundaries Or at least 3 objects that interact with each other properly. Image 1 highlights the start/end of the corridor regions, and image 2 shows how the surfaces look - why doesn't the corridor surface start and end where the regions do?

Mar 6, 2013I am trying to create an intersection design using the Intersection Tools in C3D 2012. I followed the steps in the tutorials, created a corridor on the major road, splitted the regions, created the intersection and added it to the major road corridor, and connect the regions with the intersection portion.
I used the same assembly throughout the design just for simplicity, however, i notice that there are gaps of curb between the curb return section and the through section (as outline in red rectangles).

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Structure Expression To Test For Horizontal Angle Change
Sep 25, 2012I would like to build an expression that I can use in a label at a structure in a profile view to show the horizontal angle change on the alignment at the structure.
Of course, in the available structure expressions, we do not have the alignment delta angle at that point even though I have a referenced alignment in my pipe network.
Our subdivision code has minimum drop across manhole for different ranges of horizontal angle change.
I want to create a label that shows the minimum drop required at a manhole off it's referenced alignment and I would like to see it on the profile view, because that is where the drop value is relevant.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Test The Height Of Fill Slope Relative To Daylight Catch Point?
Sep 23, 2013This seems like something that should be really easy but for the life of me I can't figure it out. I even started looking at using the Subassembly composer to create a custom SA but that seems like a ton of work so something that would seem to be a common problem.
I need to provide a v-ditch with 2:1 side slopes at the toe of a 2:1 fill slope. The flow line of the ditch should be 2 ft below the daylight point of the roadway pavement section.
My problem is that the conditional subassembly seems to evaluate the height of fill directly beneath the attachment point of the conditional SA (pavement section daylight point in my case – “Daylight_Sub” Point code). Instead I need it to evaluate the difference in elevation between the catch point of a 2:1 daylight fill slope and the conditional SA attachment point (Daylight_sub). If that difference is less than 2 feet, I need to provide the ditch, otherwise I can just use the daylight slope for the ditch foreslope and the existing surface for the backslope.
how to do this? Maybeits as easy as using a predefined daylight subassembly that I'm overlooking?

Jan 14, 2013I am "trying" to design a intersection that contains four lane divided road. Northbound and Southbound lanes are 2% normal crown with a curbed median. I have alignments for each crown. The intersecting road is not crowned. This road is a retrofit so I am limited quite a bit so the intersection wizard is out. We're going old school with this one.

It seems like civil 3d has problem with the order of the regions. Also the corridor sections intersects in the area that i have place a remark "problem". Jul 23, 2013issue with my Corridor. It involves the intersection of a main road alignment and a secondary road. Thing is my main road has a 6' shoulder whereas my secondary road doesn't have a shoulder at all. I used the Intersection Wizard to create the Intersection, but the two templates don't align. Without the shoulder the ditches don't line up. I tried drawing a polyline between the two ditches and targeting it and that worked, but then realized that going from 6' shoulder to no shoulder wasn't working either so when I tried to target a polyline from the 6' shoulder to the edge of pavement all kind of stuff happened that didn't make sense to me.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Intersection On Looped Corridor
Mar 12, 2013I have a site access road that extends from highway into site and then loops around and intersects with itself. Would like to keep this as one alignment in order to make Super Elev and master alignment easy to control across project team.
Issue is, we would like to use Intersection wizard at the intersection but cannot, as we ony have one alignment. We could model the intersection the old way, using kerb returns with design profiles, but as the design is still in early stages the intersection is likely to be frequently revised.
how we could utilise intersection wizard in this scenario?

I have a problem modeling intersection. This is first time I am modeling intersection. I have gone thru' and actually did all intersection tutorials offered by C3D and naturally I felt like I am ready for it.
But in real world I am not. I am trying to model intersection and I keep getting error as "Value on Wrong side of alignment to profile". I looked at target mapping and thinks so that all is okay (may be not). I am attaching snapshot of error message as well as plan view. I wanted to forward actual dwg but size is too large to post.
Point to note:This is Left lane driving setting. I realized this after I created alignment/profile/assemblies but before I tried intersection modeling.
I did 8 iterations before this post.

Dec 26, 2013I have a mainline corridor which is intersecting with a side road corridor that is curving towards the mainline. After the PT of the curve, the two alignments are parallel and I am using an offset assembly here for the sections. What is the best way to handle the area where the two corridors are coming together. As far as I've been able to tell, I cannot use an offset assembly through the curve. There will be a ditch between the two that needs to be shown someway or another. I've attached a screen shot.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Intersection Tool With Widening?
Oct 26, 2012Having issue with the intersection tool for a road widening with turn lane with new roadway intersection. Not repaving entire existing roadway, sawcutting 2' into lane then paving new turn lane. Do most people use intersection tool for road widening, or is it strictly used for new roadways.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Create T Intersection With X Alignment
Jun 20, 2012The street is a 'T'. The alignment is extended... Sta 0+00 starts 100' back and the intersection at centerlines starts at 1+00. The alignment is masked between 0+00 and 1+00, but that obviously doesn't make a difference for the intersection wizard.
The intersection wizard does not give me a choice, it just presumes a 4-way intersection. How do a do/choose a 3-way 'T' intersection in this case?

Dec 2, 2011I often have to do storm pond surfaces that (for the purposes of planning) are flat on the bottom. These surfaces are created from a combination of survey data and grading groups and the tin of these surfaces is perfectably acceptable. However, when contours are shown, the flat bottom is shown with contours jig-jagging all over the place.
The attached image shows a comparison of the same pond. The top was created with survey data and grading groups; the bottom was created using contour data only. The generated surface on the top shows the bottom contour going in different directions and has parts where the an expected contour is missing.
How to correct/manipulate the surface to show a proper flat surface?
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Reduced Maximum Length For Surface Triangles Causes Surface Holes
Oct 22, 2012Has instances where you set your tolerance for the maximum triangle lenth to say 50m to reduce the amount of triangles along the edge that run at long distances. When I do this I end up with multiple surface holes and I'm not sure why as there are points in the area.
I thought well maybe it's because i should've reduced my max triangles first then added breaklines. Would this matter? I also thought I could add a line to the surface to fix the holes vs. deleting surface lines along the entire edge of a surface for many many miles.

Nov 14, 2012I am trying to add points into a surface. I have done this before without any problems, but now I am having issues.
When I ID points which makes up the surface it gives me the correct Z level e.g. 24.5m, however when I hover over the surface it shows me the surface name and a different z level e.g. 0.65m. What is the reason for this difference in z levels? I think this may be causing the issue I am having when I add new points.
I select the surface and use the 'edit surface command' in the ribbon, choosing add point.
When I add a point at the level I require(23.89m), it puts it in a lot higher than the surrounding area, so I tried to put the point in to the lower z levels (0.4m) it puts it in a lot lower!
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Volume Bounded By Existing Surface And Design Surface
Dec 10, 2012My goal is coming up with the volume bounded by the design surface and the existing surface. I don't have the design surface modeled yet.
Do i need to create alignment offsets?. Alignment 1 profile view is also attached. Then Alignment2.
What about starting with alignment1 profile view? Since I have created a polyline as the design profile ?
how do I shrink labels? Where is it in the settings ; the Align folder had been check.
