i wanted to know how can c change alignment direction when these two feature line and alignment meet each other in order to change the alignment path?
I have made line types with text and need to reverse the direction that the text reads. The text autocorrects based on UCS north. The UCS in the drawing is rotated 90 degrees so line text reads upside down. I type in the reverse command but the text does not change.

I'm just guessing I need to reverse the flow direction because my invert out and invert in elevations are backwards in the profile. I'm working in Civil3D 2012.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI imported 5182 points (in the NEZ format) into my AutoCAD Civil 3D 2013 (English Metric) and then created a Surface from these points (Style: Contours 1m and 5m (Background)). I selected a polyline => Alignment => Create Alignment from Objects - see the attached file. How can I verify the direction of the alignment I just created?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI using a data reference/shortcut to properly label an alignment in paperspace. However when I reference the alignment in and apply the labels the aren't the same as the original alignment that I am referencing. Is there a setting where I am supposed to apply a new beginning station.
Also it seems as though the stationing(distance) isn't even matching up 1:1 with the original drawing. For example in the original base drawing my alignment starts at 10+00 with the next PI at 14+76.98, but the stationing on the reference alignment starts at 0+83.33 with the very same PI being labeled as 1+23.08. So the very same distance is 476.98' in the real design and the drawing it's being referenced in, but the stationing of the referenced alignment shows it as 39.75 Units.
I've attached a screen of the beginning of the alignment.

Using Civil 3d2012, Is it possible to change the alignment label style set after the alignment has been created? For example, for an alignment that was created with alignment label set X - change the label set to alignment label set Y? It seems like this should be pretty easy, I must be missing something obvious.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a question on Alignment PI's. (Point of Inflection/Intersection)I have an alignment where some PI's have curves, others are merely hard bends.
Is there a way to automatically label the PI's even if they have an associated curve? (I'd like PI, PC and PT)Alternatively, can I only show markers at PI's without curves?
I'm trying to edit some existing alignments. When I create new entities, they do not show up in the alignment grid view. Why is this?

Launching alignment grid view/alignment entities,
I’m wondering if there is a way to launch alignment grid view/alignment entities (attached) without the need to first launching “alignment”? This dialogue box is quite essential in editing the values of radius, degree of curvature and deflection angle for the selected curve.
Can I inherit the station from one alignment as the begin station for another alignment?
For example. Alignment 1 is 1000 ft long and starts at sta 0+00.
At sta 8+01, Alignment 2 begins and goes off in another direction.
I manually enter 8+01 for begin station Alignment 2. Life is good. Still in the design stage, and customer needs to modify Alignment 1 to avoid something. Now Alignment 2 intersects Alignment 1 at sta 8+15, but same N/E coordinates.
I manually enter 8+15 for begin station Alignment 2.
It would be better if Alignment 2 could inherit the begin station based on the new stationing from Alignment 1.
I have a polyline in my drawing, consisting of arcs and lines all joined together. It is a waterline and I cannot get it to reverse.. it is reading ----M----- instead of -----W-----

View 2 Replies View RelatedWe have a large pipe project that forms a very large 'C' shape. To follow convention with advancing stations from left to right and north being up, we are running into some problems.
1). For Civil 3D, can you reverse the profile for a section, say station 9+00 to 18+00 only. The remainder would be one direction.
2). What do others use for convention for north arrow direction and advancing stations?
Our first sheet goes from east to west, the second and third sheets run north to south, the next ones are west to east, and the final ones are north to south.
3). What will be the layout/formatting?
where the setting is to reverse the flow of a pipe. I have the flow arrow shown in the wrong direction plus am showing a negative slope on a pipe, which should never be done.
View 9 Replies View RelatedWhen I first created my surface model, any point I moved would snap back to its original position like a rubber band. I had to do some edits so I unlocked this by .... Survey Tab>My survey database>Survey Points>Points, and then picked "Unlock In Drawing". This command unlocked All points in the drawing so I could edit them.
Now that I am done with my edits, how do I reverse this command globally, so as to get ALL points locked again (so they snap back to their original position like a rubber band if moved, like before) ?

I want to add a single transition curve between two reverse curve in Civil3D.
I am using Civil3d2012.
I have created a linetype with the text GAS OPTION in it. The line is continuous with a break around the text. In a straight line the linetype works fine (breaks around the text etc). However, when I use a polyline and spline the line for a curved line the text aligns with the direction of the line at the start, but when the line bends, the text suddenly changes direction and reads in the opposite direction. It looks like AutoCAD is trying to keep the text upright rather than following the direction of the line. When the text changes direction it also changes its insertion point and overlaps the continuous part of the line. I have 2013 AutoCAD.
Here is the string I used for the linetype.
*GAS_Option_LINE,Gas line ----GAS OPTION----GAS OPTION----GAS OPTION----
A,8,-15,["GAS OPTION",STANDARD,S=2.54,U=0.0,X=-2.35,Y=-1.27],-12
I have edited the "GeneralLegalPhrasings.xml" file used for the parcel report "General_Legal_Description_for_Parcels".
Two issues: 1. it will not label a reverse curve properly....it shows them all as "compound curves". 2. A curve to curve is always shown as "NonTangent".
I've attached the .xml file (I only edited the imperial parcels - the second large group of <Metes>).
Quite simply, these two "types" below have the words "reverse curve" and tangent or non-tangent accordingly in the output phrase, but it only creates non-tangent compound reports.
Curve to TangentReverseCurve
Curve to NonTangentReverseCurve
This is the report from the parcel in the attached dwg file (notice the "curve to the left" -> "curve to the right" labelled as compound, and all non-tangent curve to curve):
From the POINT OF BEGINNING; Thence, North 90° 00' 00" West, 129.16 feet to a point for corner;
Thence, North 00° 00' 00" East, 100.00 feet to a point for corner, the beginning of a curve; tangent
Thence, 61.46 feet along the arc of a ____ curve to the right, having a radius of 39.13 feet, a central angle of 90° 00' 00", and a chord which bears North 45° 00' 00" East, 55.34 feet, to a point for corner, the beginning of a compound curve; non-tangent
Thence, 47.09 feet along the arc of a ____ curve to the left, having a radius of 29.98 feet, a central angle of 90° 00' 00", and a chord which bears North 45° 00' 00" East, 42.40 feet, to a point for corner, the beginning of a compound curve; non-tangent

how to create reverse curve with straight portion in between , as their is no option of creating reverse curve with straight portion in civil 3d , duding designing a hill road what ever the reverse curve you design will be wrong and superelevation generated will also be wrong as it do no include straight in between the curves (ie reverse curve should contain transition curve transition straight transition curve transition.)
