I'm trying to edit MTEXT boxes that I've created and when I begin the edit (delete/add text, change font size, etc.) the text box disappears until I click "OK" essentially making me do my edits blindly. After I click OK and return to model or paper space, the text box reappears and my edit has been made.

Architecture 2009 running on Windows 7. Dell Precision T5400 with a Quadro FX570 graphics card.
I have lately been having some issues with text in Architecture 2009. I first noticed that within Mtext, when you hit the "UPPERCASE" or "lowercase" buttons, the text disappears in the editor, and no changes are made. Not the end of the world, but not handy.
Then it stopped letting me type in Mtext boxes at all. The return key seemed to work, but nothing else. Then it started converting text typed into Mtext boxes into (I think) Chinese characters. Really not handy. At this point I decided to try to reinstall. First I tried a repair, then reinstalled over the existing installation, then uninstalled completely and reinstalled from the disk. I've also done a windows restore, though as this has slowly been falling apart, I'm not sure when I should restore back to.
I have Mtext basic functionality back, but the "UPPERCASE" and "lowercase" buttons still make the text disappear.
Not sure if it's related, but I also get a Fatal Error e06d7363h at 758bd36fh about 4 or 5 times a day. Usually it's associated with the open command (ctrl+o), but sometimes it just happens at random.
I have numerous MText paragraphs that I need to combine into a single piece of MText. I want the paragraphs preserved in the final piece. I've found some routines that can combine pieces of MText but I don't know if they preserve the paragraphs.I have DotSoft Toolpac but it doesn't seem up to the task. C

Why do they do this? I am trying to quick elevation edit a featureline but my edit glyph jumps to a completly different featureline that is near.

I made a surface in which I paste all relevant corridor surfaces for the subarea of the project.
The surface looks OK in the file, but when I export, the XML file ignores my few edits, and adds excessive triangulation between adjacent corridors.
I already tried with adding boundaries, creating snapshots, exporting to XML 1.0 1.1 1.2, and regardless of what software I use the resulting XML, it looks crap, and the drainage team is struggling to work with it.

I have a cround road with curb and gutter, sidewalk, a retaining wall, and pan at the top of the retaining wall behind it, and then a link slope to surface. From station 3+40 to 3+50 we are not putting in any pan. The topp of the the wall at these stations is at existing grade.
When I go into my corridor section editor at station 3+40 and delete the pan behind the wall it goes away. When I click on "apply to range of stations" and put in 3+50 for the end station, my corridor sections do not change. Why is this? 3+40 stays changed but thats the only one. I have rebuild automatic set and even if I click the update corridor button, it does not apply this station range.
Can add selection boxes or pick boxes to a block?
Here's the situation. I have a block that will be inserted showing a piece of angle iron that is used for a stiffener. We have various sizes that will need to be used. Instead of typing in the angle size each time it's inserted can I have a list of all the angle sizes and then a pick box or radial dial or something to be selected and that is what is put in the block?
I have multiple singular text objects on my screen and I want to convert them to mtext so I can use the Background Mask option within mtext on my drawing. how to quickly select all the text and convert it to mtext without it combinin ginto 1 mtext?

(new system) I've installed Civil 3D 2013. if I use a command that opens a dialog box with drop down boxes when opening the drop down box it will not populate until I move the cursor into the drop down area. Also radio boxes and check boxes do not show changes in selection until I move the location of the dialog box on screen causing it to refresh. I've contacted Autodesk, Dell, and NDIVIA (video card) no one seems to have any Ideas. It works fine in diagnostic mode.

The dwg was fine, then it crashed while changing from modle space to paper space...
When i recovered the dwg, EVERY MTEXT I try to edit becomes rotated vertically and stays that way when i close the edit box...
I do not recall hitting any buttons or making any keystrokes without my knowing...
Is there a way to get my text back to Horizontal and stay that way?
I tried setting the MTEXTFIXED to: 0, 1 & 2.
NONE of these options changed anything.
I NEED to have this fixed. more importantly, i need to know why this is happening sop that i can take steps to prevent this happening in the future...

I am having issues with it resetting my column width to 0, even after I have formatted all the Mtext to read how I want it shown. Once I close a drawing and open it again, the formatting changes that I have previously set return to "dynamic" and column width = 0. I just want to turn off the dynamic setting so it stops messing up the formatting, but I can't get it to retain the dynamic setting. Currently running C3D 2012.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have have small gray shaded boxes showing up on drawings plotted in Civil 3D, they are never anywhere I can see in the drawing and they never show up in the print preview. I have tried using multiple printers and still get the same thing. I think it may have something to do with viewports as they only show up inside a viewport window when plotting from paperspace and don't show up when I plot from modelspace.

I thought standard Windows behavior is that when I re-size a dialogue box that next time the box is activated, it remembers the size it was when I last used it.
Why does this not happen for me in Civil 3D?
I have a user who inadvertently changed the text contents of an mleader from "ByLayer" to 1,255,0, which is giving us some serious issues with our plotting, as we use a .ctb file for printing. Unfortunately, this error must have occurred fairly early in the project, because it is now replicated throughout the 100 page set. The text color was changed through the mtext editor, so just changing the overall properties of the mtext or leader doesn't affect the text. The only way that I know of to correct the issue is to edit each piece of text, select the contents, and change them back to ByLayer. This is going to be a real pain.
So here is the question: Is there a way to change the color of multiple pieces of mtext, without opening each and every individually?

and the Noun/Verb is checked . When I look at the CIVIL CUI, I do not have any double - clicks but the ACAD CUI does - this is load too right.
I am inserting hyperlinks in an mtext object using the following commands:
1. Within the mtext box, right click and select "insert field"
2. Choose "linked"
3. Choose "Hyperlink"
4. Type in the web address in the box to allow autodesk to load the website
5. Choose "insert link"
6. Modified "text to display"
7. Exit text editor.
When I exit the text editor, the program crashes.
I have annotative mtext that keeps changing width and location. See pic. When gripped, they're in the correct location but wrong scale. I experienced this on a few drawings with C3d 2010 and now 2011.

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing I am working on regardless of whether I use DVIEW Twist or UCS rotate I encounter the same issue. I start with MTEXT that is parallel to my intended view. However, as soon as I make it annotative and set it to Match Layout the text rotates 90-degrees and is no longer plan readable.The text lives in model space, not paper space. I've even roated the layout viewports in this specific drawing to match, and the text appears correct when viewed through a viewport, but when I jump back to model it is turned on end 90-degrees again! Have I missed a setting somewhere? Shouldnt the text reamin oriented with current view in model space?

When preparing surveys i often use the annotative labels and tables available in Civil 3d. I am familiar with modifying label & table styles, but i have not yet been able to figure out how i can add a column to my table that contains fillable text. Because of that i am forced to create a table and then add text in paper space adjacent to or over the top of it.

I usually have to insert a good amount of drawing notes that we keep in word documents on our network and i find that the process of editing them causes me to Fatal Error when trying even the simplest edit, like erasing a sentence or changing a name.
How to edit the document in word before copy/pasting it into CAD, but the documents are locked for editing as is our standard practice for the general notes that we use.
I am going to make a dummy drawing in hopes of making my changes in an empty drawing, (although I strongly feel this is not a file size issue but a word to CAD translation issue).
In dialog boxes the drop down menus appear blank until I drag the mouse over it then the contents appear as I drag the mouse across. Also the cursor doesn't echo back (flash). I have tried updating drivers to no avail.
Running Civil 3D 2011 with all updates.

Field Category and Field Name and any other steps to locating it would be useful.
