AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Profile Band Vertical Geometry PI
Jan 16, 2013I did a grading, created surface with it and draw a profile view. Everything seems to be good, except with the vertical geometry band. I need to fix slope and length only at break point, means PI (blue line), but aligment has created more PI with each surface tringular line at intersection (us i note). Is there any why to specify PI only at a break points?
I can erase PI manually on static profile view mode, but i desire to do it in dynamic mode..., in case when conditions changes.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Vertical Grid Not Appearing In Profile
May 27, 2013the vertical grid is not showing up even though is turned on in view style! tried different things but nothing seems to work, and the horizontal grid doesn't clip to the profile even though i select the option! it goes way up until profile frame!
Windows 7, intel I7, 8 MB RAM, civil3d 2013.
AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Split Profile - Vertical (elevation) Grid Marks
Nov 19, 2013I received a file from another office which had a split profile. The only issue that my project manager and I have with it is that the profile lines themselves run from station limit to station limit, and therefore the profile lines run through the vertical (elevation) numbers. Is there a way to adjust the vertical (elevation) grid marks to clean this up?

Apr 27, 2012Can I turn off the begin and end vertical grid of a profile? Currently it can be turned off using the GRID AT VERTICAL MAJOR, even though I'm starting/ending my profile view at stations that are neither major (100') nor minor (50').
Civil 3D 2010.
I attached a pdf to show the vertical line at 19+90 that I want turned off.

Aug 9, 2013I'd like to label profile elevations at horizontal geometry points. I accomplished this with a profile reference. Essentially labeling bottom of curb at pc, pt, mid, and pi, and would like to get and expression to add the top of curb, but under hor. geo style expressions you cannot pickup pgl data and PGL style expression are not loaded in the hgp data.
Note: Its all Resistentialism, so keep calm and carry on 64 Bit Win7 OS.

Apr 29, 2012I do know that tere is supposed to be an algorithm in C3D that will recognise when two geometry points are coincident on a profile view...that is, say a profile vertical geometry point happens to occur on a major station (for example).
I have never seen this actually work. When I have this situation, the labels stagger and I get two columns of identical data on my PV.
I know I can remove individual labels bY CTRL+select and eIther erase or turn visibility to false, but I would rather that C3D figured it out for me and removed the duplicate data.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Geometry Point Labels - Text Style
Jan 21, 2013I am in the process of modifying our current company standards to conform to another set of standards. The main change is switching from "simplex" font style to "Tahoma".
Simple in theory but problematic in execution, our main alignment label style "GEO-LABL", used for P.O.T, PC, ect. utilizes an underlined reference text object in order to control the length of the line under the call. The base insertion places the call perpendicular to the alignment, when dragged to the left or right it switches to stacked text plan readable. Works like a champ with the "simplex" text style - 1.jpg see attached.
Now simply changing the font to "Tahoma" - 2.jpg the larger you make the text the larger the gap.I am trying to stay away from adding a line for the underline due to the difference in lengths needed when the call gets longer or shorter based on alignment name or stationing.

May 10, 2012For composing a profile label, I can't find the option for Geometry Point Text, which would use our abbreviations under the drawing settings. It is available for alignments but not profiles. Currently have it text compenent being labeled with PVC and PVT, but I had typed that in.

Sep 9, 2011i have created a data band in profile view that should show a created profiles elevation, but some of the the data fields are missing irregulary. Also in the data band that shoud show the diferenece betven the tow profiles - EG and the new profile the data is missing. The EG profiles data and the surface are ok all is shown.

Sep 26, 2012is there a way to set up the profile so it is anchored to horizontal geometry from certain point. that way when i change the alignment in the middle it won't cause profile to be shifted because station changes (length changed) while the vpi stations stay the same as before.
i can make a program in .net to specify a station and move all the vpi station by that amount which can be obtained easily by taking the length before you modify minus length after you modify.
Pretty common problem. it's not that hard to do in really the logic is defined. i have this alignment that's 60km long that's only one portion. hecka lots of horzontal curve and vertical curves. over 100.

Jan 18, 2012Understanding that composite volumes are typically more accurate, I have a reason to evaluate the volume between two surfaces via a grid volume. Easily created a grid volume surface using a 50' grid (50' is large for this site, but wanted to get a feel for calculation time).
Question: Can you change the grid size without creating a new grid surface? Ultimately I woud like to explore the difference in volumes based on grid sizing without creating a long list of surfaces. One would expect that you could chage the grid spacing in surface properties, but the values are non-editable.
Revit :: Vertical Curtain Grid Line
Oct 29, 2012I've created a non-symmetrical curtain wall mullion profile. When I assign that profile to a vertical curtain grid line, it is flipped in the project. In the attached image, you can see that the brace on the right in the family plan view is on the left in the project plan view.

Oct 9, 2011I am working on a horizontal directional drill with multiple survey points.
The survey points make up (what looks like an upside down dome) and they are all connected with polylines. I need to add straight vertical lines to each point. Of course I can do this manually, but I'm wondering if there's a way to automate it. I've tried Lee's point manager, but it seems the problem is there's no option for xstart, xend, and ystart, yend. I also tried created a block out of a line then importing that on the points with point manager, but I need all of the lines to end at the same position at the top. This doesnt work because as you can see the points aren't all equal from the bottom. I also cannot find a way to trim blocks. I was hoping blocks would have the same xstart and xend, etc. as a line, but they don't.

Apr 16, 2013the autocad can create points on grid? I must stipulate the points to be sampled in the field / map, and would be a nice increase for the company. I'm sending a map, and I need a point every 2500 m square. I managed to do manually. I picked a line and divide segments of it with the command point. But I had to use the "copy" in each row of dots and copy down.
The attachment is a map with 32,81 ha ( 328100 m 2). That is, I need 4 points per hectare (10,000 square meters) in total 131 dots ( points )
In short, it is possible, in this map make a grid of points 2500m square from each other?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Using Break Switches Off Snap (Grid) For First Selected Point
Oct 6, 2011I set a snap for ease of use, e.g. if my intended output scale is 1:50 I will set my snap to 25, this makes drawing lines fast and simple.
When I used the break command in previous versions (I skipped 2011) the break would keep the snap on so I could break either side of a line with a perfect unit gap.
In 2012 when I select the first point it disregards the snap and just puts the break wherever I select on the line meaning the gap is not neat. Is there anyway to put this back the way it was?

Jan 17, 2013I have a database of points I am trying to import, and the point data for each point includes a hyperlink. I've created a set of custom User-Defined Property Classifications for all the data types in the point database, and I've created a point file format to use to import the points.
It's a database of existing curb ramps, the data includes things like widths, slopes, some text, and a hyperlink to the Google Streetview at each ramp. I've created a custom point label that will show the data I need to see at each ramp.
All goes great except that the import fails because of the hyperlinks. I've tested it by removing the hyperlinks from a small test portion of the data set, and the test points are then successfully imported. I suppose I can delete the hyperlinks from the entire database, but if there is a way to include the hyperlinks in the point import I would prefer that.

Whenever I import survey points, I always put them into their own point group, so I can display each day's worth of survey data differently. For some reason, the point style always defaults to a certain style (our control point symbol). I'd like it to default to Basic, so I don't have to change this every time. Dec 19, 2013I am trying to get point 1234 to show a label that says Point #1234 and then in a grading plan have that same point show up as a spot elevation. I have tried making two point groups "Point #" and "Spot Grades" which include the same points in them with two different label styles for each group, however the point seems to only want to take one label style at a time.

Illustrator :: File Saved As Small PDF Changes Type Point Size And Vertical Scaling
Oct 8, 2013I have an Adobe Illustrator CS6 document with body copy set using 6.5 pt. Helvetica Neue LT Std. - Bold Condensed & Light Condensed.
After saving the file as a PDF in Illustrator using the [Smallest File Size] setting, closing the file, and opening the newly saved PDF in Illustrator - the 6.5 pt. text is now 5.53 pt. with a vertical scaling of 117.65%.
This PDF is for client review purposes - on screen or laser print - not for reproduction. We try to keep the file size as small as possible to make downloading and e-mail attachments manageable.
In this case, my client is opening the PDF in Illustrator to double-check the text point sizes for legal & regulatory purposes.
If I save the same Illustrator file as a PDF using other settings like [High Quality Print], the text size is unchanged.
I was able to repeat the issue using Helvetica LT Std in place of Helvetica Neue LT Std.

Sep 15, 2012I am trying to follow this tutorial on how to create anamorphic images and I don't know how to use vanishing point. How to create a flat grid like it says. Also, does the number of rows in a grid matter? Because in the picture it's like five rows across and when I create a grid it's at least twenty rows across. I have an art final due in a two days.
