I have a strange thing that all of a sudden started happening. If I Rt-Clk on a surface on a profile and select Edit Profile geometry, the dialog box comes up, but almost every option in there is greyed out!
This is not drawing-specific, not is it machine specific.

I have an alignment label that I normally use to show the PVI's of a profile in the plan view.
This is a little unusual, but in a specific case I wanted to design my profile at one alignment, but show it at another. I designed my swale profile in the pathway profile view and then superimposed the swale profile on the swale profile view. I then went back to the swale alignment to add these labels.
It's a no-go AFAICT. The only profile available for me to select for these labels is the original ground profile from the surface.
I did a grading, created surface with it and draw a profile view. Everything seems to be good, except with the vertical geometry band. I need to fix slope and length only at break point, means PI (blue line), but aligment has created more PI with each surface tringular line at intersection (us i note). Is there any why to specify PI only at a break points?
I can erase PI manually on static profile view mode, but i desire to do it in dynamic mode..., in case when conditions changes.
For composing a profile label, I can't find the option for Geometry Point Text, which would use our abbreviations under the drawing settings. It is available for alignments but not profiles. Currently have it text compenent being labeled with PVC and PVT, but I had typed that in.

I'm using C3D 2012. I created a profile view for a straight horizontal alignment. The band label for the horizontal won't appear for this particular straight aligment. I have a few other alignments that has curves in it and the profile view displays the labels fine.
I tried to create a new straight alignment again, create a profile view but I get the same results.I also tried it on a new drawing using the NCS metric template with same results.
I can think of (if this is a bug) is to extend my alignment by say 0.1m and add a new IP at the correct alignment end, mask that on plan and end my profile view to the right length.
A tabular data sheet for profiles could be very interesting.

is there a way to set up the profile so it is anchored to horizontal geometry from certain point. that way when i change the alignment in the middle it won't cause profile to be shifted because station changes (length changed) while the vpi stations stay the same as before.
i can make a program in .net to specify a station and move all the vpi station by that amount which can be obtained easily by taking the length before you modify minus length after you modify.
Pretty common problem. it's not that hard to do in really the logic is defined. i have this alignment that's 60km long that's only one portion. hecka lots of horzontal curve and vertical curves. over 100.

View 2 Replies View RelatedSay I click on a line, and then go to the properties inspector to adjust its length. When I scroll down to "geometry" the options are greyed out and I can't adjust them. (see attached image)
It was working fine, and then the other day they were randomly greyed out, and I cant figure out how to get it back to normal. I don't know if I accidentally changed some setting or what, but it's like this on every object I click.
Can you not perform a slope-slope intercept to place a PVI? Essentially holding the sta and elev of the PVI's directly before and after the PVI of interest and changing the grade in and out so that the sta and elev of the PVI of interest are changed.

Also in the data band that shoud show the diferenece betven the tow profiles - EG and the new profile the data is missing. The EG profiles data and the surface are ok all is shown.

I would like to delete the horizontal line (white line) from our sanitary profile structure. I have outlined it with a yellow cloud. I want to permanently delete it from our style. I can access the style in the Prospector but cannot figure out how to edit the block to delete the line in question.
I have a large number of profile views in Model space that I need to edit the Elevation values for all of them in the Profile View properties. Any way to select them all and edit the Profile View Properties? Maybe creating a group or something?

It seems like I used to be able to do this in 2012.
I created a design profile and used the copy profile command. I close the layout toolbar of the original design profile.
When i select the copied design profile to grip edit a pvi, the existing ground profile and copied profile disappears and i cannot grip edit.
I have also tested this with an OOTB template.
Question: How to be able to grip edit a copied design profile in 2012.
I was editing a profile yesterday and when I chose the grips, it offered me the station or elevation which I could edit. C3d crashed and now after 3 restarts, I cannot get the SE grips. I only get polar tracking when using grip edits.

I have a finished grade surface and I have a feature line that is my waterline. I created an alignment and then recreated my feature line so they would be linked. I can then create a profile using my alignment and that shows my surface at that alignment. I can even add the waterline by using project objects to profile view.
I need to be able to edit the feature line elevations in the profile view by creating and erasing PVIs so this will tie back to my geometry.

Civil 3D 2013, trying to edit a FG profile through the Profile Entities vista and Profile Layout Parameters dialog box. All entities in the vista are shaded (locked) and will not allow me to edit. Is there something that I am missing here? I should be able to edit the PVIs (or entities) correct? I couldn't find anything in documentation as to why these are shaded and not allowing me to edit them.

The only way to edit the extrusion is to:
Shift EOP
Delete the extrusion
Recreate the extrusion.

i would like to use 3d dwg files from the 50 wood joint library for cnc processing. Therefore i load a dwg file (like attached) into account and want to start editing the wireframe, but thats not possible. Furthermore I expected to be capable of producing a solid for further processing in a CAM software.
How can I edit and make the attached geometry a solid?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have Photoshop CS5 extended and a Mac with OSX 10.6.8. I was altering the 1st and only layer in my .psd file by filling areas with the "content aware" setting. (The background is blank.) It was working great, too! Then suddenly the "fill" selection under "edit" was greyed out, as well as most of the other things on the edit menu. It doesn't matter what I try to select in that layer.
I shut down Photoshop and restarted my computer, but it didn't work. Duplicating the layer didn't work, either. I CAN fill and stroke in the background layer.
The Edit menu in LR3 has greyed out the option of any Photoshop program as an external editing system. I still have PSE 9 on the hard drive as well but neither is available. How do I correct this?

View 8 Replies View RelatedI am a long time user of CorelDRAW but have been moving more and more to Adobe CS. In part because it is the standard in the graphic design industry but also because Corel always seems to have some issue. My latest issue is when I select an imported image in a CorelDraw file and go to the top menu, I can't select edit bitmap. The option is grayed out. It's a new install on winxp-pro. I've used this tool over many years and questioned why Adobe could not launch photoshop and edit embedded images from within Illustrator. It still can't, but it can edit linked files, a danger if you only want to apply changes to the image in your current work file. Corel's ability to edit embedded images is a great feature. Why it does not work has got me stumped. jpg files are associated with Photo-Paint, I close and reopen Corel and still no capability to edit images from within CorelDraw.

All of the Edit Functions were dimmed. I confirmed that the photo was set with RGB color mode, and it is in Full/Edit mode. The primary functions that I attempted to use were Copy & Paste. View 9 Replies View RelatedIm creating a Profile Bandset and would like to have multiple surface/profile elevations shown, ie: EG, FG, Back of Curb and Back of walk. While creating this bandset I see that the text component editor properties only has code for profile 1 elevation and profile 2 elevation in the properties area, which the code for this looks like below.

Ive tried to write my own code using the profile 2 as an example but it doesnt seem to work as a 3rd surface/profile and only seems to mimic the profile 2 elevation when placed in the band
My questions are as follows
1) does Civil 3d only allow 2 surface elevations in any band set? if it does allow more profiles/surface elevations what am i missing to create it?
2) if Civil 3d does alow for multiple surfaces to be shown in the band set how do i get the text component editor to supply the extra profile elevation codes? or would i need to create from scratch
3) if i need to write the code from scratch does any listing of the codes and meanings of each code ie what does RN, Uft, Sn and so forth do and mean .
