im using c3d 2012. whenever i'm drawing lines between nodes and i have my osnap set to node and it picks nodes but i have to be right on top of the node when i pick it so i'm having to zoom in and out a lot. in ldd i was able to hover anywhere over the point text and it still picked the node.
View 4 RepliesIf I draw lines between nodes and then list the lines it gives me slope distances. how can I set it to draw 2D lines but still have 3D nodes? I want my points to display the correct elevation but when I draw lines connecting them I want the line to be 2D so when I list them I get the correct bearing and a horizontal distance.

I know how it's set by default, but someone has managed to fix their template so it only ever shows "A3 template" in this field. consequently, this problem now persists throughout hundreds of drawings. If I can fix it with a line of iLogic, then the wickedly awesome CodeInjector can be used for fixing all the drawings.
Is it possible to make iLogic rule to do this:In dwg Place part and in Browser to see part name without extra typing. Not Sheet 1 sheet 2 etc.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI am wanting to draw lines from gun setup to the back sight, and then from the gun to all the radial shots that were taken from that setup. I would like to do this as automatically as possible. (i.e. a bunch of radial lines from the gun to each individual shot from that setup).
Our raw files are in TDS format. I could do it manually by using the transparent command 'PN, but I would have to draw a line from the setup to the shots individually.
Otherwise, I could write a lisp that asks me for the setup pt number, and I could give it a range ot pt #'s and have it draw lines from the gun to each of the pts in the range. (that is, if 'PN works in lisp).
When I start to draw my polylines to cogo points I have inserted in my drawing it keeps wanting to hang up when I hover over the point. I have set up my point styles to bring in our points with all the attribute information so I am thinking it keeps trying to read all that info as soon as my mouse hits it..
I saw a post about rollovertips but that did not change anything. Any ides what might be causing this? Im using Civil3D 2011.
Why do our feature lines all come in as the color white when xreffed into a drawing? Feature lines show up just fine in our topo drawing, so then we xref it into our design drawing and they all show as if the color is white when is is not in the layer properties. All other items (symbols, points, and lines) come in as the color they were drawn in the topo drawing.

For some reason all of my points, even though they have assigned elevations, their nodes are at 0.00 which makes it difficult to do any soft of point grading. How to adjust the settings so the point node is at the elevation of the point? The image attached shows a line which was drawn from the node of one point to the node of another point. Notice the z elevation of said line.

View 5 Replies View RelatedBack in LDT you used to be able to mouse over point descriptions of dragged state points to get Osnap to select the node. Civil 3D has apparently done away with this, why who knows but its very very hard to know what point your selecting if say you have a bunch of points on top of eachother. Can this be enabled anywhere?
The very mundain work around is to use 'PO to select the point entity, but it does not show the little osnap indicator on the point marker when you use 'PO.
How can I get my old Osnap node selection back?

I seem to vaguely recall a method from some vector drawing program where you can press or hold ctrl or alt or shift and change the next type of node you will draw while using the bezier tool, or the pen tool, or the multi-line tool.
Is there any way to do this in 12, or use VBA to make it happen. I really just need to switch back and fourth between cusp and symmetrical.
Is there a reason why the "node" osnap won't recognoze certain point markers? I have recently begun using named plot styles and I have been revising some of our markers to reflect this. I have noticed that some of the point markers (it seems like markers that use a circle as part of the marker) won't show the node marker no matter how I hover around it. Others seem to be normal.

Problem with command from Home tab - Draw panel - Curves drop-down - Create Curves Between Two Lines OR Create Curve on Two Lines.
If you select the Degree option, it draws a zero length curve when you type in a valid number for degree of curve. I have tried entering it in decimal format and as ##d##'. NOTHING WORKS!
Recently upgraded to Civil 3D 2013 and drawings opened up fine. Now today any drawing that opens shows the plan view as last saved but then after loading takes the drawing and shifts it into a 3d view similar to a crossection. Is there a setting somewhere that has been changed? I noticed after a windows 7 update was preformed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedHow can I fix my LT so that I can draw fluid lines? At the moment the cursor jumps in increments across the screen as I move my cursor.
I can draw circles and rectangles fine (smooth, no lag) but straight lines are a nightmare. This also follows true with the "first line" of an elipse which is very jumpy.
Note: Brand new 3 day old HP 6550b ProBook, running windows 7.
I have tried unsuccessfully to draw lines using bearings as a surveyor draws them. I have seen a number of posts here and on the web, but they relate to northern and easting’s, but as you can see on the attached PDF from a surveyor they have used only bearings. I’m not a surveyor, my background is mechanical so this is all new to me. what units and settings I may need to change in order to draw using these bearings. I’m using Autocad 2012, and the attached PDF relates to some blocks of land in Australia (just in case that makes a difference in the settings)

View 1 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble with drawing lines in decimal. My length is Decimal, insertion scale is feet. So say I wanted to enter 21 inches in feet. I just click to draw my line, then use 21/12 as my input for length. That works fine. But when I have a line that I want drawn at 21.5" (I enter 21.5/12), it won't work, saying point or option keyword required.

I'm trying to copy these lines from the other drawing into the map-drawing, but when I'm trying drag and drop, the mouse doesn't even go to the other drawing. I also made a block of the lines and tried to insert it, but it doesn't work either.

But when I try to add a parallel extension to an old line, it doesn't work. The old line is located in another layer, but I tried to copy it to the same layer and it still doesn't work.

The background of my drawings is black. When the line command is done, the line appears and it's red. Problem is I cant see it as I'm sketching. Is there any way to modify this? Can I have the line appear red (or white) as I'm sketching?

BTW, when I attach a PDF underlay, AUTOCAD allows me to snap to the lines in the PDF and even measure them. Since it recognizes those lines, is there an easy way to copy the lines from the PDF into the drawing?
I completed a drawing for class, and on the screen it looks great. When i go to print it and preview it after centering, picking scale, etc, the preview shows most of the text to be thick. Its like the line weight is wrong or something.Drawing7-1.dwg
View 9 Replies View RelatedI draw a rectangle, and I want to draw a line coming out from the rectangle. Normally I would use OSNAP to get midpoint and endpoint, but this time I want to draw it from any part of the edges of the rectangle.
How do I get the cursor to "snap" to the lines of the rectangle? Similarly, I would like this function for the MOVE tool as well, I used this method in Sketchup before and really liked it a lot.
How do I achieve this in AutoCAD? I tried Nearest, Perpendicular, but they don't work as well.
