I want to set my autosave (In Options) at 30 minutes but it seems that my Civil 3d 2012 sets itself back at 10 minutes.
I even try to set it in the dialog box with SAVETIME command at 30 minutes but it gives me the a prompt telling that its been setted at 10 minutes.

OS : Windows 7 - 64 bit pro
2013 C3D crashes on me a little less than once a day. Fatal errors and recoveries are also quite popular. Today, the crash took Windows 7 down with it too - a rare treat.
I have Autosave set to 20 minutes and also have the box for creating a backup file with each save checked under Options > Open and Save.
When Drawing Recovery Manager opened today, the dwg I was working on says it was last saved over 1.5 hours ago. The bak file was last saved yesterday. Usually, there's a sv$ file, but not this time. The sv$ file is typically the most up-to-date file.
Shouldn't I see a "last saved" time and date of about 30 minutes ago for my dwg? Same for the bak file? Is there some other variable that I need to set?

I attached two external DWG using the add source drawings in map, then I queried a single drawing into my current drawing. Which I must admit was pretty cool. However know every time I save, autosave, or Publish I get the message below.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI have a file that looks like it is going to open nice and fast and then it gets stuck at 50% synchronizing references. It literally takes over 5 minutes for the file to come completely up and ready to work on.
In the file I have an existing ground surface data reference and two corridors (with alignments, profiles and profiles views) that are basic access roads roughly 1200' long each with a very basic assembly. I also have a pipe network data referenced that is just a bunch of pipes that represent existing utilities crossing the access road so I can show them in cross sections. The final thing I have in here are 50' cross sections for each of these access roads.
why does it take me 5+ minutes to get into this file?

View 4 Replies View Relatedway to renumber an entire sheet set without having to stop at each subset? Currently, I right click on a sheet and select "rename & renumber". The Rename and Renumber dialog box pops up and I type "1" then click on "next", type "2", "next", and so on. This continues until the end of the subset, the stops. Then I have to right click on a sheet in the next subset and start over.
I want to renumber the whole plan set without stopping at each subset. Obviously, I can get rid of the subsets, but that isn't my question. I want to keep the subsets and have the ability to renumber the whole set.
I have made a model with 40 viewframes. I have used the option to export 4 layouts to one drawing. My question is can I revise the original model and get the revisions automatically updated in the 10 drawings or do I have to redo the export option?
View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I create my sheet sets, where there is a curve in my alignment, there is a black space outside of the matchline. When I move the matchline closer to the end of the view frame, the black space gets smaller. Then I cannot acheive my overlap.

I had to print around 80-100 Plan and Profiles Sheets, Sections, Coverpage, Index, Legend, etc.
I am trying to create a best fit alignment from parallel linear sets of COGO points. When I run the command, about halfway through the data set the alignment suddenly curves out of away from the COGO points. I tried doing a best fit individually on each side, one side works fine, the other sets station zero about a quarter of the way into the points and runs it back toward the start, leaving out 3/4 of the points.

my description key set is set up as follows:

the trouble is, this works nicely for all of the inbetween shots, but for shots containing "B" and "E" it uses the B for the $1 instead of the desired 10" pipe size. How do I prevent this from happening?
We were origially using the code B p01 10" but the description keys were geting hung up on the B and not sorting the point to the desired layer.
what is the best method for coding in the field? and how do I get the 10" to show up in the label instead of the B and E
I'm trying to figure out where to control the section label sets that are attached to the section "entities" when I create multiple section views. It seems to default to 'standard' for all entities sampled. I have created the section label sets that I would like to use for each entity, eg. subgrade, finished grade etc., but don't know where to select it when sections are created. I can get desired results by selecting each entity in a section view individually, but it's very tedious since I will have over a hundred sections views to show with 3 entities sampled each. These sections were created from sample lines across multiple surfaces and not from a corridor. It seems logical that the section label set would be tied to the section style, but I don't think it is. The only thing the section style seems to control is the layer and a name, it's nearly useless.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI'm having an intermittent issue with my publish command. So far the pattern seems to be on drawings with a larger number of sheets (last one was 15, this one is 7). When I get the publish dialog box, I'll set the number of copies to however many I need but it ends up only printing one set. It doesn't happen every time. Just with these two drawings so far. They have nothing to do with each other and haven't shared any data. The only similiarity is that they're both older projects that were started some years ago on previous CAD versions.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI was wondering if it was possible to restore a rule set to an existing pipe. we created a pipe network with about 100 pipes in it with a min. depth set to 6 ft. the pipes all came in with varying slopes, which is what we intended. someone in our group went through and set all the pipe slopes to zero for some reason and we need to undo that. this was done on the same day the drawing was created, the changes were saved and the drawing was closed so we can't "undo" and there is no previous version to restore to. my question is, is there some way we can select the network and "restore" the origially intended rules, or are we stuck with either redrawing all the pipes or manually changing the slopes back. (both would be an extreme waste of time)

What are the rules for how elements (specifically, collections and other collection sets) are ordered within a collection set?
I was trying to get a collection to appear at the top of the list of items in a collection set, but it seems to get stuffed below all the other collection sets regardless of the name given to the collection.
is it possible to trigger an Autosave before executing my vb.net-code? I'm rather new to vb.netcode and in case of an unexpexted error AutoCad sometimes crashes. If I Could trigger an auto-save before the code is run, no information in the drawing is lost, but can be obtained in an autosave-file.
I cannot trigger a Save of SaveAs, because i don't know if the user wanted to save the drawing, for examples if the user reads an older drawing, removes/deletes objects etc, but is unaware of the drawing being saved, it could result in problems.
how can I prevent autosave from happening in the middle of a command. it is very frustrating and can potentially cause a crash (rarely though).
DO NOT TELL ME TURN OFF AUTOSAVE. I like it on, want it on and my computer has no issue handling it and it rarely crashes during.
I am a typer, so run commands very fast. I am seeing crashes right after an autosave, when I hit escape fast.
This never happened before, and does not happen on 2009.
Autodesk added the "intellisense" for commands in 2013.
This kind of instability is likely tied to that addition that we turn off.
Is there a way to completely disable the intellisense, like clearing the list of commands or something.
Sometimes when Autocad autosaves my dwg's, one of the dwg's replaces the other one. So I end up with two identical dwg's with different filename.
e.g.
Lets say I have two dwg's up at the same time, called "Car.dwg" and "House.dwg".
Sometimes when the autosave is finished it ends up with a car on both of the dwg, and the one that previously had a House drawing on it, is now a car with "House.dwg" filename.
We are having an issue with AutoSave we have it setup to save to a certain fold every 10min and it isnt' saving to the fold. It used to save just fine and all of a sudden stopped.

My Auto save is on and I've looked for the file with no luck. I've tried looking in the temp files and so on like every thing on the web says but nothing. 3 hours of work I am going to redo in the morning since I've been working for 13 hours straight now..

I see the progress bar appearing at bottom left, so I know the function is active. I had a situation yesterday where I inadvertently closed a drawing without saving the changes and thought I would be able to at least recover up to the previous 10min by renaming the last ac$ as a dwg; but when I looked in the directory there are no ac$ files, only .bak. I have just checked now and there is one ac$ file - for the currently open drawing. Why aren't the ac$ files being retained?
