AutoCAD Architecture :: Split A Space Object Resulting In 2 Spaces
Oct 9, 2013Is there a command to split a space object?... if so, what is it?

View 2 RepliesWhen I export RAW files, specifying that I want the output to be in sRGB color space the resulting files have the Adobe RGB color space. The same is true if I specify I want them in ProPhoto. Is this a bug? I have done it successfully in other versions of Lightroom, but not in 4.3.
View 21 Replies View RelatedWhen using the 'space generate' option when inserting a space, the tool automatically turns off 'object snap' and then of course it doesn't turn it back on at the end of the operation. I tend to need to switch back and forth from auto generate to polygonal insertion and having to reset object snap every time.
View 3 Replies View RelatedWe've been working with adding schedule tags in paper space for objects nested within an xref. The first time you do this however, the manual properties (it seems) do not update if the value of the manual property is changed back in the xref dwg. However, the Automatic properties do seem to update.
When we initially found this we past it off as a limitation. However, one of our users was experimenting and found that the first time you tag the xref resident object... the schedule tag reads the correct manual properties value. However, If you remove the property set from the schedule tag... then the manual property will update correctly showing the current value as it is back in the xref dwg even if it is changed.
This makes complete sense as the manual property set data can be edited from either the tag or the object or from the schedule... IF THE TAG and the object are resident in the same drawing file - in this case you DO NOT want to delete the property set from the tag... if you do this the property set is also removed from the object. However, when tagging objects nested within an xref, then you need to remove the property set from the tag... THEN the manual property will update correctly.
I am trying to create a property definition that will display the elevation of a space object. I looked through the automatic properties and did not find anything that looked like the elevation.
I have tried the following but was unable to achieve any success.
RESULT="--"
On Error Resume Next
Set AcadApp = GetObject(, "AutoCAD.Application")
Set Obj = AcadApp.Activedocument.Objectidtoobject("[ObjectID]")
RESULT = Obj.elevation
That formula does work if i swap elevation with say height, width, length or any of the properties found in the automatic property list that are a single word. I know the elevation is there I just don't know how to access it.
In Autocad Arch 2013, is there some parameter or option that will turn off the default behavior of dropping out part of the hatch or color, around a peice of text? In other words I don't what the white space that forms around a text object when I apply a hatch or color region.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have found the theme legends on the documentation tool palette, but I was wondering how the themes are assigned to the individual spaces? I would have expected additional spaces to be loaded into the file at the time the legend was brought in.
Is the active connection between the legend and the individuals spaces? or is the legend only a static representation?
Will i need to create these space types or are they hidden within the Design Center or a catalog?
Is it possible to assign furniture and other objects to specific spaces similar to the assigning of doors and windows?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have questions about exporting data for drawings. We make use of spaces to create a list with room numbers, room use and the area.
we also create plans with office furniture.we have blocks with attributes to extract data like workstation numbers, department, roomnumbers etc.for the info from the spaces we use export property data to create an database file.for the export of the attributes we use dataextraction to crete an .xls file
Is there a way to combine the work so that we can export the attribute data with the export property data?Is there a way to link the blocks (who are within a closed pline) to the pline (space)? Can it be done with lisp or VBA?
I have created custom spaces and I have been able to build room with doors and then add a door tag that updates automatically with the info of the door. But for some reason, I am unable to assign the door to the space. I am not using project and I think that may be my problem. I feel as though I am almost there, but I can't assign the door to the space so that when I add a door tag it recognizes that the door is in a wall in a space and then gives me those numbers. If I click on the tag, I am able to anchor it to the space and then the room number appears in the tag, but I was hopnig to have it do it automatically. I have the door squiggle inside the space but I don't know how to attach it and also the space seems to have a number project based assigned to it, but that is not what I want since the drawing is not project based.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a file with several Space Styles. As I progress on the drawings I would like to modify some of the display properties, primarily color of the fill. I would think I could set the overall appearance of each Space Style in one location and then adjust elements of various display representations. In my case have a red hatch for a space style but in one display rep it would be solid and in another it would be a diagonal hatch.
As I see it, if I wish to modify the color I have to go into each display rep and adjust the color of the base hatch and click on the Style Override check box. It seems like duplicative work. Is there another method of setting the color of each Space Style so that it shows the same in all display reps?
I've looked at adding spaces to a plan that is simply lines and arcs... no intellegent objects.
It could get somewhat messy doing Generate Spaces... if the doors and swings are frozen the bounding objects don't get found... but if the doors and swings are on... the spaces go in fairly well... but then the door swing is used as a boundardy.
I am using some custom property set definitions to add information to spaces. However as I insert spaces I find that I have to go to the extra step to add the property set to the object using the Extended Data tab in the Properties Palette.
It is not a huge deal but sometimes it is forgotten and schedules are not reporting properly, or the display theme is not correct. Although there are tools to quickly add them I would like to know if there is an automatic way to add them while creating the spaces/zones.
On a related note. There is a property set definition that is in each file by default called RoomFinishObjects. Is there a way to purge this? I don't want to attach finishes to my objects. But it seems to be embedded in the file.
We work in space management and deal with associative spaces every day. As a platform we use ACA 2012, with out own Add-on tool (whch simply groups ACA's own tools in one).
We have issues on a daily-basis with the usable boundaries of associative spaces (the green line indicated in the example attachment). Generally when a floorplan is simple, consisting mainly of 90-degree angles wall intersections, everything works fine. However when we work with floorplans consisting of arched, or even more often slanted walls or walls that meet at different angles, the usable boundaries' lines tend to create a "spike" (labled B. on the attachment) which extends outward from the plan, thus creating i.e a 28m2 space out of a 13m2 space (labled A). We use our own calculation standard, however using BOMA or SIS the issue occurs in the same manner, using SIS its even worse.
Generally we solve these issues by changing wall justifications, deleting and re-creating spaces, etc, etc. This can be a very tedious process, one which takes a long time and time is of the essence!
We are aware that by making the spaces non-associative, we can then manually edit the usable boundary, however this is not an option as we handle a great deal of different floorplans each day, and these plans are updated frequently, so we do not want to send out a drawing which has a problem like this because the next person who edits some of the spaces will most likely come across the same problem again.
I'm working in Adobe Illustrator CS6 and neither the Distribute Spaces Option nor Distribute Object Option are working. It doesn't seem to matter if it's a print or web document. Doing the same thing to the same document/graphics in CS5.1 works perfectly.
Copypasteing the correctly distributed objects from CS5.1 to CS6 works ok, and if i then repeat the Distribute spaces option nothing changes and it stays correctly distributed. (read: it doesn't badly distribute like before)
I am working in paper space having more than six viewports which are arranged vertically. When I am checking for alignment, I need to pan more. To avoid this, is it possible to split the screen for the same file while working in paper space?
View 9 Replies View Relatedafter discovering zones and the space evaluation tool I wonder whether it is possible to customise the XLS output further by also reading out information from a property set attached to the space?
The office standard is to have a property set attached to each space that defines a room number (which is the level ID plus a number, say G-01), the area and the space name.
We used to simply schedule the areas with a schedule table. That only gives us net rooms, no subtotals per department (or say per flat) and no grandtotal. So we got as far as using zones grouping the spaces in each flat.
Now I need an area schedule XLT template that also displays the room number from the space's property set and the schedule grouped in a fashion that I get subtotals per flat (=my zones) in another column and a grandtotal.Playing with the Space evaluation tool I seem to only ever get Room/ zone names and their areas.
is there a way to COPY objects from model space to paper space? CHSPACE only "cuts" geometry. I need the same geometry stacked in both model space and paper space.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI feel like I have a vague memory of once learning how to click on an object in a viewport and being able to click a button or use a command to switch that object to paper space (so that it appears the same size). I'm trying to avoid having to go through the steps to scale down the object once I get it in paper space).

I drew a solid model of a structure in Autocad 2010. By using that model, I want to make a FEM analysis in Sap2000. The problem is that Sap2000 takes only polygon meshes (not solids) in 3d. The question is that how can i make a group of polygon meshes of the solid model that represents the structure.
(Since i am not an expert of Autocad, i will be glad if the solution is explained in a simple language.)
I'm trying to split an existing object into two or three separate shapes (please take a look at the attachment) with CS6. Want to cut it along those white pathes.
View 4 Replies View RelatedAfter doing a live trace and expand on an object I now need to separate one object into two. I tried using both the scissors and the knife tool and neither tool work. When I select two anchor points on opposite side of each other to split the object it just adds a line in the middle with the object as a whole still in tact.
View 13 Replies View RelatedUp until now, we have been entering room names for scheduling manually. I would like to be able to create a psd, whereby the room name is the space style name - *UNLESS* - a value has been entered in any of the manual room name properties. I am sure I can do this with a formula property but I am having trouble wrapping my head around it.
I have 3 manual property definitions in my PSD: (the names corelate to the position in the room tag)
Name_Manual_Top
Name_Manual_Mid
Name_Manual
Additionally I have one which concentates these 3 for the schedules:
Name_Manual_Sched
So I need something that says:
*if* NAME_MANUAL_TOP *or* NAME_MANUAL_MID *or* NAME_MANUAL *=nil*, *then* NAME_MANUAL *and* NAME_MANUAL_SCHEDULE = SPACETYLE *else* this is where I am having trouble - the else is that I want it to act like it always does - if there is data in one of the manual properties
I have done some lisp programming, but not any VBA (but willing to learn)
I've created a number of spaces, and I want the space name to show up in a Room schedule. Here is a picture of the Properties window with one of my spaces selected. The space name is 'Spanish 2'. see first attachment
I understand I need to add a column to my room schedule that has this value in it. Here is an image from the 'Edit Schedule Table Style' dialog and the 'add column' sub dialog.
see second attachment
which one of this rather lengthy list is the correct one? I've tried all the values that have 'name' in them but all I get is '?' in my schedule. I've attached the file I'm working on. I created the spaces by dragging and dropping from the tool palettes out of the box, and the room schedule the same way.
