Revit :: Assigning Sequential Serial Numbers To Furniture
Mar 15, 2012I am curently working on a larger projekt, where we have aprox. 4500 pcs.of furnituer designed in 4 different kind of families, generic, furnituer, furnituer systems and specialty equipment. We need to be able to asign every pcs.of funituer a seqventual serial number, we have tried to do this using an extension with a funktion called element positionerning, but we have had no success with this tool, apparently it is taking up to much memory.

Dec 12, 2013I am looking for furniture content for renderings. I find some in Autodesk Seek. Most of the items are autocad 3d . It looks like they are built with surfaces. I want to make them usuable in 3d models in Autocad for architecture. I would like them to be easily accessible from the tool palletes. They seem similar to the ones that come from Archidigm. How do I drag and drop these 3d models into the tool pallette - I tried to first convert them into a blcok , but that did not work. Where can I find good furniture content, ready to drop into tool palllettes for ACA?

Feb 18, 2011I have found the theme legends on the documentation tool palette, but I was wondering how the themes are assigned to the individual spaces? I would have expected additional spaces to be loaded into the file at the time the legend was brought in.
Is the active connection between the legend and the individuals spaces? or is the legend only a static representation?
Will i need to create these space types or are they hidden within the Design Center or a catalog?

we also create plans with office furniture.we have blocks with attributes to extract data like workstation numbers, department, roomnumbers etc.for the info from the spaces we use export property data to create an database file.for the export of the attributes we use dataextraction to crete an .xls file
Is there a way to combine the work so that we can export the attribute data with the export property data?Is there a way to link the blocks (who are within a closed pline) to the pline (space)? Can it be done with lisp or VBA?
AutoCAD Architecture :: Door Tags Assigned To Spaces?
Apr 11, 2012I have created custom spaces and I have been able to build room with doors and then add a door tag that updates automatically with the info of the door. But for some reason, I am unable to assign the door to the space. I am not using project and I think that may be my problem. I feel as though I am almost there, but I can't assign the door to the space so that when I add a door tag it recognizes that the door is in a wall in a space and then gives me those numbers. If I click on the tag, I am able to anchor it to the space and then the room number appears in the tag, but I was hopnig to have it do it automatically. I have the door squiggle inside the space but I don't know how to attach it and also the space seems to have a number project based assigned to it, but that is not what I want since the drawing is not project based.

Sep 30, 2013I have a file with several Space Styles. As I progress on the drawings I would like to modify some of the display properties, primarily color of the fill. I would think I could set the overall appearance of each Space Style in one location and then adjust elements of various display representations. In my case have a red hatch for a space style but in one display rep it would be solid and in another it would be a diagonal hatch.
As I see it, if I wish to modify the color I have to go into each display rep and adjust the color of the base hatch and click on the Style Override check box. It seems like duplicative work. Is there another method of setting the color of each Space Style so that it shows the same in all display reps?

Dec 13, 2012I've looked at adding spaces to a plan that is simply lines and arcs... no intellegent objects.
It could get somewhat messy doing Generate Spaces... if the doors and swings are frozen the bounding objects don't get found... but if the doors and swings are on... the spaces go in fairly well... but then the door swing is used as a boundardy.
AutoCAD Architecture :: Custom Property Set Definitions To Add Information To Spaces
Dec 13, 2013I am using some custom property set definitions to add information to spaces. However as I insert spaces I find that I have to go to the extra step to add the property set to the object using the Extended Data tab in the Properties Palette.
It is not a huge deal but sometimes it is forgotten and schedules are not reporting properly, or the display theme is not correct. Although there are tools to quickly add them I would like to know if there is an automatic way to add them while creating the spaces/zones.
On a related note. There is a property set definition that is in each file by default called RoomFinishObjects. Is there a way to purge this? I don't want to attach finishes to my objects. But it seems to be embedded in the file.

Oct 18, 2012We work in space management and deal with associative spaces every day. As a platform we use ACA 2012, with out own Add-on tool (whch simply groups ACA's own tools in one).
We have issues on a daily-basis with the usable boundaries of associative spaces (the green line indicated in the example attachment). Generally when a floorplan is simple, consisting mainly of 90-degree angles wall intersections, everything works fine. However when we work with floorplans consisting of arched, or even more often slanted walls or walls that meet at different angles, the usable boundaries' lines tend to create a "spike" (labled B. on the attachment) which extends outward from the plan, thus creating i.e a 28m2 space out of a 13m2 space (labled A). We use our own calculation standard, however using BOMA or SIS the issue occurs in the same manner, using SIS its even worse.
Generally we solve these issues by changing wall justifications, deleting and re-creating spaces, etc, etc. This can be a very tedious process, one which takes a long time and time is of the essence!
We are aware that by making the spaces non-associative, we can then manually edit the usable boundary, however this is not an option as we handle a great deal of different floorplans each day, and these plans are updated frequently, so we do not want to send out a drawing which has a problem like this because the next person who edits some of the spaces will most likely come across the same problem again.

Nov 16, 2012I would like to extract a furniture schedule by using attributed blocks. I would like attributes like Item #, Color, Size, Location, Description, Manufacturer, etc…. The problem with the data extraction system that I am having is that in order for a chair with a tag to be considered the same chair and be counted correctly all the block attributes have to be exactly the same/ match.
For example, if I have the same chair (CH-01) but the location of the chair changes, cad treats it as 2 different chairs.
AutoCad :: Count Furniture Blocks In Specific Rooms
Mar 9, 2012I need a way to count furniture blocks that are located in specific ROOMS. More specifically, I'm looking for a way to select MULTIPLE different blocks at once (with a WINDOW selection) and label them a specific room number. I don't want every block with the same properties universally updated (since some will be in other rooms). I also don't want to have to select each block in every room and update its attributes manually (this would both take a long time and things may be re-located over time).
I would like to be able to print a report and compare it to our Microsoft Access database. I know there are other furniture-CAD programs that will do this, but is AutoCAD capable of doing this on its own? I have millions of square feet to check furniture for and this would save me days- if not weeks of time!
Revit :: Can't See Furniture In Plan
Jan 11, 2014I made the building, and after I had to change the elevation levels, and after I did this, I copyed some furniture from the level 1, to the level 2. Some of the furniture was copyed the right way, but all the chairs from the plan are missing. I tought maybe they've been deletel, but I try put new chairs, and they also don't appear in the second level only. When I went to 3D view, i saw there are there, at the right level where they should be. I dont know why they don't appear in plan. And also I noticed the interior walls are grey, and not white in the plan. Also, when I go to ground floor, and put underlay level 1, I see the chairs there in the underlay, not at level 2. I made this print screen maybe is easyer to understand. [URL]

When the MAX is imported the object is read only. Why is this? Surely only XREFs and File Linked entities should be read only?

May 24, 2013After some unknown action on my part eps export started replacing Arial Bold text with Courier characters using Arial font spacing. The Corel Draw view shows Arial Bold text and identifies it as such in the top button bar. When I looked at the text properties docker it was completely blank, absolutely nothing visible at all.
I can select the Artistic and Paragrah text default properties in the Object Styles Docker, but the similar information about character, paragraph, and frame that I used to have in the text properties docker is now just a grey empty panel.
I have done one reinstall without removing user files. Thet did not change anything. I have done another reinstall after removing also all user files in the uninstall. Still got an empty text properties docker but the eps export now works correctly.
how to get back the furniture that used to be in the Text Properties Docker?
AutoCAD .NET :: Spaces And Classifications
Aug 20, 2013How exactly you add an Classification to an Space Object(and by Classification i mean the part under Space object properties>Extended Data>Classifications where normally the SIS one is located).
I'm trying trough .NET (C# to be specific) to change the information on a space with something from the Classification Definitions specified in the drawing. I'm able to read the data from the current ones, however if any of the classifications is using the Default(By style) value the space.ClassficationCollection doesn't contain that particular Classification.
In the document i've got a classification definition for spaces called "Space function" and an assorted list of various functions the space itself can be assigned, like Elevetor-shaft, Bathroom/Shover etc.
How to do this or tell if it's impossible to do, Sample below show on how i'm currently getting the information on the space:

Jul 12, 2012I have a large building project with multiple linked files (building split into blocks plus furniture etc models) with shared co-ordinates. All are working fine except one which happens to be a furniture and equipment model. When sections and/or elevations are placed in either the host or the linked file the views do not corrospond with the cut line of the section or view line of the elevation, for example if I place an elevation within a room the elevation looks as if it has been placed in a different position some metres away. When the files are linked within each other using the shared co-ordinates they place themselves in plan and elevation perfectly. I am trying to create room elevations to show furniture/equipment layouts and this is making it impossible!

Sep 18, 2012I am renaming a bunch of blocks that had non-descriptive code names with new descriptive names for our power substation division. Example: 2002 -> Strain Clamp U Bolt.
I am debating whether I should put spaces in the new names or use the under-bar '_' for spaces. If I use spaces the names will look nicer and may word wrap better when I put these blocks into a tool palette. But I'm paranoid about using spaces because of the nagging feeling it might be a problem down the road, say with parsing in lisp code or something.
AutoCad :: Assigning RGB To A Plot Style
Jul 7, 2011Here's what I'm trying to do.
1. Create a layer that is Color 250.
2. Create a Plot Style that can have the true color 255,255,255 set.
It seems I can only use the 255 default AutoCAD index color palette. I would like to have some solid filled hatches to be the physical color 250 in the drawing, but I want these objects on a layer that plots the true color 255,255,255. The reason, is because I want to use these solid filled hatches as a mask. I'm not going to use that as an alternative.
I just don't want these solid filled hatches to be white. I can live with it, and it's working fantastic for the use I need but am just trying to see if this option is available.
