Isn't there a way to accentuate darkness in the nooks and crannies of, say, a furniture piece. Sort of like ambient occlusion, but more pronounced, as if there was accumulation of dark stuff there.

I used the Extrude tool just for visualization. The problem is, working with booleans apparently doesn't work for such objects, it works for freshly created clean polygons, but not for this one, when I try to use "Boolean difference" both objects disappear.
Extruding doesn't work because the faces are still there and I cannot delete them for whatever reason:

My cursor is pointing on the little face, but both are being highlighted. Making a hole through the the "Make a hole" function doesn't work because it only deletes faces as it seems.
I would like to make some recessed groves in the black piece seen in the image. I want the two thin strips of faces to be recessed slightly into the shape.

I have tried scaling and several other techniques, but nothing is getting a uniform reduced shape throughout the U-Shape to create the recess.

levels and curves don't give me the same results. I tried to create a luminosity mask of whites with selective color. Is there a great skill to boost whites for example?

For example, if you print a document on 5 different printers and then scan those documents into photoshop 7, is there a way to quantitatively analyze how dark each document is. Can photoshop 7 tell you the average darkness of a selected area of an image? They will all be scanned on the same scanner so the only variable should be the printers. I need a numerical value for each, not just a visual comparison.
I am using Windows XP and photoshop 7.
I'm attaching an image where the client has requested the dark background be made a bright color, #e48da8 for example, yet still have a believable edge from hair to background. I have made a couple of attempts which have fallen short. How can I replace that darkness with a brightish color and do it convincingly, given that the darkness comes into the hair quite a bit, and the edge is feathery?
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing with the floor plan as an xref. I added the plumbing on top of the xref. My problem comes when plotting. When I print the drawing to the plotter, since the plotter is black and white only the lines of the plumbing come out darker than the xref. But I also need a pdf copy in black and white, but when I change the settings to greyscale all the lines look the same in terms of darkness.
Additional info, the xref is grey and the plumbing layer line color is dark purple.
I am trying to make a pyramid in which there is total darkness, this is for testing self illumination effects and lights without outside influence. So i made a pyramid and gave it a shell and material, but if i look inside, every object inside of it is fully illuminated! How to keep light from reaching the inside of an object?

I want to set it up so I can practice "charcoal drawing" in photoshop without the mess. Specifically, I want the pressure to control the darkness of the brush tool, from very faint to completely black.

So, in the brushes window, I enabled "other dynamics" and set the flow control to pen pressure. It works but not very well. It's hard to draw a faint line, and faint lines appear to be made up of discrete circles.

I also try linking the opacity to the pen pressure, and set flow to 100%. This work better for faint lines, but I'm unable to draw a completely black line. It seems the opacity maxed out at about 40%. I don't want to apply too much pressure lest I break the tablet.
I made the building, and after I had to change the elevation levels, and after I did this, I copyed some furniture from the level 1, to the level 2. Some of the furniture was copyed the right way, but all the chairs from the plan are missing. I tought maybe they've been deletel, but I try put new chairs, and they also don't appear in the second level only. When I went to 3D view, i saw there are there, at the right level where they should be. I dont know why they don't appear in plan. And also I noticed the interior walls are grey, and not white in the plan. Also, when I go to ground  floor, and put underlay level 1, I see the chairs there in the underlay, not at level 2. I want to make them usuable in 3d models in Autocad for architecture. I would like them to be easily accessible from the tool palletes. View 5 Replies View RelatedAfter some unknown action on my part eps export started replacing Arial Bold text with Courier characters using Arial font spacing. The Corel Draw view shows Arial Bold text and identifies it as such in the top button bar. When I looked at the text properties docker it was completely blank, absolutely nothing visible at all.
I can select the Artistic and Paragrah text default properties in the Object Styles Docker, but the similar information about character, paragraph, and frame that I used to have in the text properties docker is now just a grey empty panel.
I have done one reinstall without removing user files. Thet did not change anything. I have done another reinstall after removing also all user files in the uninstall. Still got an empty text properties docker but the eps export now works correctly.
how to get back the furniture that used to be in the Text Properties Docker?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI would like to extract a furniture schedule by using attributed blocks. I would like attributes like Item #, Color, Size, Location, Description, Manufacturer, etc…. The problem with the data extraction system that I am having is that in order for a chair with a tag to be considered the same chair and be counted correctly all the block attributes have to be exactly the same/ match.
For example, if I have the same chair (CH-01) but the location of the chair changes, cad treats it as 2 different chairs.
I need a way to count furniture blocks that are located in specific ROOMS. More specifically, I'm looking for a way to select MULTIPLE different blocks at once (with a WINDOW selection) and label them a specific room number. I don't want every block with the same properties universally updated (since some will be in other rooms). I also don't want to have to select each block in every room and update its attributes manually (this would both take a long time and things may be re-located over time).
I would like to be able to print a report and compare it to our Microsoft Access database. I know there are other furniture-CAD programs that will do this, but is AutoCAD capable of doing this on its own? I have millions of square feet to check furniture for and this would save me days- if not weeks of time!
I have a large building project with multiple linked files (building split into blocks plus furniture etc models) with shared co-ordinates. All are working fine except one which happens to be a furniture and equipment model. When sections and/or elevations are placed in either the host or the linked file the views do not corrospond with the cut line of the section or view line of the elevation, for example if I place an elevation within a room the elevation looks as if it has been placed in a different position some metres away. When the files are linked within each other using the shared co-ordinates they place themselves in plan and elevation perfectly. I am trying to create room elevations to show furniture/equipment layouts and this is making it impossible!
