Nov 16, 2012I would like to extract a furniture schedule by using attributed blocks. I would like attributes like Item #, Color, Size, Location, Description, Manufacturer, etc…. The problem with the data extraction system that I am having is that in order for a chair with a tag to be considered the same chair and be counted correctly all the block attributes have to be exactly the same/ match.
For example, if I have the same chair (CH-01) but the location of the chair changes, cad treats it as 2 different chairs.
AutoCad :: Count Furniture Blocks In Specific Rooms
Mar 9, 2012I need a way to count furniture blocks that are located in specific ROOMS. More specifically, I'm looking for a way to select MULTIPLE different blocks at once (with a WINDOW selection) and label them a specific room number. I don't want every block with the same properties universally updated (since some will be in other rooms). I also don't want to have to select each block in every room and update its attributes manually (this would both take a long time and things may be re-located over time).
I would like to be able to print a report and compare it to our Microsoft Access database. I know there are other furniture-CAD programs that will do this, but is AutoCAD capable of doing this on its own? I have millions of square feet to check furniture for and this would save me days- if not weeks of time!

Aug 6, 2013I'm designing a warehouse with a mezzanine. i goggled all over and didn't really find information on how to model a mezzanine. I didn't find families, and it seems most people use a floor. I can try that.
I also wonder if it is better to use the ground floor and have the mezzanine elevated, or if the mezzanine should be a new level. i see both ways working, but wonder if there is a better option. I also want to add the stairs etc.
I also will need to add railing etc. but this seems a secondary problem now. I'm really surprised Google didn't reveal much since mezzanines are very common.

Dec 12, 2013I am looking for furniture content for renderings. I find some in Autodesk Seek. Most of the items are autocad 3d . It looks like they are built with surfaces. I want to make them usuable in 3d models in Autocad for architecture. I would like them to be easily accessible from the tool palletes. They seem similar to the ones that come from Archidigm. How do I drag and drop these 3d models into the tool pallette - I tried to first convert them into a blcok , but that did not work. Where can I find good furniture content, ready to drop into tool palllettes for ACA?

Jan 11, 2014I made the building, and after I had to change the elevation levels, and after I did this, I copyed some furniture from the level 1, to the level 2. Some of the furniture was copyed the right way, but all the chairs from the plan are missing. I tought maybe they've been deletel, but I try put new chairs, and they also don't appear in the second level only. When I went to 3D view, i saw there are there, at the right level where they should be. I dont know why they don't appear in plan. And also I noticed the interior walls are grey, and not white in the plan. Also, when I go to ground floor, and put underlay level 1, I see the chairs there in the underlay, not at level 2. May 24, 2013After some unknown action on my part eps export started replacing Arial Bold text with Courier characters using Arial font spacing. The Corel Draw view shows Arial Bold text and identifies it as such in the top button bar. When I looked at the text properties docker it was completely blank, absolutely nothing visible at all.
I can select the Artistic and Paragrah text default properties in the Object Styles Docker, but the similar information about character, paragraph, and frame that I used to have in the text properties docker is now just a grey empty panel.
I have done one reinstall without removing user files. Thet did not change anything. I have done another reinstall after removing also all user files in the uninstall. Still got an empty text properties docker but the eps export now works correctly.

We need to be able to asign every pcs.of funituer a seqventual serial number, we have tried to do this using an extension with a funktion called element positionerning, but we have had no success with this tool, apparently it is taking up to much memory.

Jul 12, 2012I have a large building project with multiple linked files (building split into blocks plus furniture etc models) with shared co-ordinates. All are working fine except one which happens to be a furniture and equipment model. When sections and/or elevations are placed in either the host or the linked file the views do not corrospond with the cut line of the section or view line of the elevation, for example if I place an elevation within a room the elevation looks as if it has been placed in a different position some metres away. When the files are linked within each other using the shared co-ordinates they place themselves in plan and elevation perfectly. I am trying to create room elevations to show furniture/equipment layouts and this is making it impossible!

Aug 22, 2013We have a new title block which now contains various fields to automatically populate the drawing number, number of sheets, issue etc. The problem we have is when we go to zoom all or extents on a layout tab it moves the layout to the right each time. If we only have one layout or we use a plain title block i.e. with no fields, the zoom works fine (layout stays put in the center). This is also true if we directly insert a field onto the layout - again no problems.
The cause of the problem only happens when a block containing a field is inserted onto the paper space of a layout and,there are multiple layouts containing blocks with fields.

For example: Multiple blocks of different walls of same height with other blocks of things on located on those walls, dependant on the wall height, all linked to and changed by a single field. Possibly a Wall Height field located in the custom tab of the drawing properties.
I can pickout each of the blocks and change them at the same time in properites menu because they all share the same parameter name. I would just like to have that height parameter of every block in the drawing, that has that specific parameter controled by a single field. Which I could enter a new height at anytime that would change every block in the drawing to that height.

Aug 2, 2012We used a bespoke program to convert our drawings to Java applets for web usage. This does not cope with dynamic blocks at present and we have started to receive drawings from our clients using them.
I need to replace this with standard static blocks based on one of two criteria. Either:
1) Replace based on visibility state (have generic chair block with multiple different chair types set by visibility type, need to replace depending on which type it is set as)
2) Replace based on parameter (have table with size set by dimensions, need to replace with static block for each dimension)

May 18, 2012The AttSync command does what it advertises fairly well. My problem is that I have thousands of small blocks in a single drawing. (My current drawing has 2100 block references with four attributes in each one.) I may change the attribute values in a few of them and need to re-sync the attribute locations. When I run AttSync it updates every single block insertion. One of two things are desired:
1)Flag each block insertion as having been sync'ed, reducing the number of objects requiring synchronization when AttSync is called again. Provide a way to force all to be sync'ed.
2)Allow a selection set in the AttSync command after selecting the block to sync.
Either or both of these would a great time-saver for those of us with large numbers of blocks with attributes.

Apr 24, 2013I built a building foundation for a grading plan and I have another building that is the exact mirror of it. I have tried to mirror it. Didn't work. I created a block of the feature lines and inserted it with a -1 x value but I can't explode it. I tried the regular explode and xplode. Neither worked. I can use the the block to draw feature lines over but it just seems so much easier if I could figure out how to explode the block.

95% of the blocks on the palettes have the images associated, and named, per the block name.
I have 48 blocks that the images are named like this "Block tool_F2149212-4649-41F5-95E6-4A978EC376F5_2".
I have tried resaving the blocks and recreating the blocks to no avail.
How to get these few blocks to have images that are associated with the actual block name and not the generic "block_too" name?
