In my previous post of the same subject, I managed to create a door style using a custom made profile for the jamb .However I have been having a lot of problems trying to make the door leaf sit properly between the jambs. Attached is what I'm trying to achieve - is that possible in ACA? (BTW this was done in Revit)..
View 5 RepliesI created a dog leg laundry door and window and finally got it to work but when I open the door the window pane moves with the door, also the window does not show up in the plan view. The cut plan is set at 1400 and the window sill is at 1200.

I want to create a profile/wall style or what ever you want to call it for a raised deck flooring for external decking. I am looking at the decking material only. Not concerned about the timber framing sub floor material.
View 1 Replies View RelatedNew to Autocad and using Autocad 2010. I am trying to trim a door jamb and attached my project in this thread. The attached picture coming close to finishing the drawing. There are other door jambs in the drawing that I have not started.
Trimming the door jamb I have selected several lines. Appearing in the attachment as two horizontal lines located above the lower left square and the left vertical outside double line border. These are my step to trim these lines.
Extend Command. Select both horizontal lines. Press Enter to end the command.
Trim Command: Select both horizontal lines once more. Enter.
Select vertical outside lines. Enter twice.
Trim Command running select both horizontal lines again. press Enter.
Completing the jamb in the drawing the two horizontal lines still there only as dashed lines. After saving the project these lines appear as solid lines.
Coming close with these steps. Is it possible to show me how to trim the door jamb following these guide lines I have outlined.

I'm new to Architecture Desktop (especially 2012), I dabbled with it a little bit years ago.
I'm doing a floor plan and I want to change one door to a double door. I changed the style and it changed all the doors. So I did a search and saw something about doing a style override in the "Edit Object Display." So, I checked all the "Object Override" boxes in there. Buuut...when I right click on that door and do "Edit Door Style" it still changes ALL the doors in the drawing to double doors.
We do residential design, our doors and windows need to read 3068 and 3050 etc. I have tried everything but I cannot simply get it to work.....This is what I have done:
*Insterted a door tag from AA2014
*I exploded the tag twice and deleted the circle around the text
*Renamed the nested block and edited to include "OORSIZE"
*Went to style manager/the plan/Doc Objects/Door styles/definition/ changed it to read "STD Door Description"...

I use ACA 2012 for residential design - I have a wall style, 2x4 stud w/ 1.5" airspace and 3.5" brick (modified from the stock styles) - but whenever I insert a window, it makes it as wide as the wall (9") when it should be only the depth of the stud wall (2x4 or 2x6) - How can I fix this?
View 7 Replies View RelatedIn my xref drawing I changed the linetype of a swing to be hidden. After changing it in the xref and saving I go to my plot file and the swing is still continuous. Visretain is set to 1. The swing changes on all other drawing files except one.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI created a custom door tag I have been using for several years now based on the standard size description (3068). I have always had the constraint set to object so it will be read at 0 or 90 degrees. I am now using ACA2014 and now it puts the tag in at 0, 90, 180 and 270 degrees. how to correct it back so the text is not upside down? I could always set it to zero but I don't like the look.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been successfully able (after reading through the Users Manual) to create a new door style and a new property set definition applied to that door style. I was able to insert the new door style in a drawing and the Extended Data tab on the Properties pallet on the right side of the screen showed all the propwer data, except for one field.
I used two parameters from the Project Properies Definitions in my "custom" property set but only one of them (Number) seems to be working as expected to contain my Project ID Number within my door style. The Division ID parameter, however, does not contain anything within my door style except "NA", even though I placed a value in the Division ID field in the Project Navigator Tool Pallet.
"NA" is what shows up in the field on the Extended Data portion of the Properties pallet for the selected door instance.
As an aside, I found writting this post to be very time consuming because I had to keep refering back to the various ACA screens and pallets to be sure of using the correct names for everything to avoid confusion. Hopefully I have succeeded!
I'm new to the architecture package, but not AutoCAD. I just got training and this has stumped my instructor and me. We use half doors in our buildings and can't figure out how to design one. The door and frame that will finish @ 42" AFF.

Right now, I'd like to draw something in another app, and plunk it onto a wall in my project file.
I am familiarizing myself with Sketchbook Designer, and would like to draw something there, and drop it as a 2-D into my project. I have this sinking feeling that I might be SOL.
Is there any way to create a component in Sketchbook (or any other ADesk app), and export it as a file that can be brought into Revit as a family component? If not, how am I supposed to create custom components that are far removed from what's available in system families? The item I want to create has no similarity to anything available in Revit Families (but maybe it doesn't have to even remotely resemble anything in available system families to be created?).
I working on a deadline with little sleep, but I cannot believe it is this hard to get an overhead door to look right. All I want is a 1" thick frame, the same depth as the wall AND the door slab to be INSIDE the frame like a real overhead door.
The attached PDF shows the standard OH door on the left with the stupid door centered in the frame. The door on the right is one I created by inserting a cased opening in the wall, then manually drawing a rectangle and dashed line for the OH swing. All I am interested in is getting this right in plan at this point. Using Architecture 64 bit.
I have ACAD Arch 2012 and I am trying to associate my door tags with my door schedule and visa versa. I get as far as creating the Door Schedule with all the doors on it and quantified just the way you would want to see it; however, the "Mark" remains "A" for every door. I discovered that I can change the Mark on the extended properties of each door, but I believe there should be a better (and more linked) way to accomplish this. Since the program already recognizes how many doors there are of a specific style it should be able to put sequential "marks" to each door, for example "A", "B", "C", etc.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI want to create a space style similar to BOMA with editable boundaries to use for LEED Daylighting calculations. I figured out how to make a new property set definitions, new space style, etc., but I can't get the boundaries to read as the LEED boundaries. I want the Base area to remain as is, but I want NET to be Daylit, Useable to be Sidelit, and Gross to be Toplit.
I could do the workaround and just use the OOTB BOMA style, but then others editing will have to constantly translate which means what as we edit the drawings. When you look at the display display Properties for the space style, the boundaries and hatches read as net, useable, etc. I can't figure out where to redefine those and when you right click the space and Edit Boundary, I need to be able to display the correct properties, not the BOMA properties.

If I want to apply lens correction in ACR thgere is a dropdown list of lenses, but my lens isn't included. presumably because it has been superceded by the 12 - 24.
So, is it possible to create a custom profile for this lens and save it for future use? if so how do I do this?
I have a group of profiles in a drawing and I want to change how one of the profiles is displayed through the profile view style manager, but I do not want to change how all of the profiles look. Is there a way to change the way a single profile looks without changing all of them?

I created a Dr & Wdw Assembly w/ 3 French doors w/ 3 Transoms above. It looks great. However, the door panels in Plan view are closed. Yet the in the properties dialog box it says they're each 90 degrees open. I can change the number, but the door remains closed. What needs to be tweaked?
I made a door tag, tagged all 128 doors and during a check set noticed that the text in the tag is the wrong font. I opened the tag and changed the font, saved and regenerated the drawing. The font in the current door tags did not change. To be sure I changed the correct tag I added a new tag and the font is correct. Why do the current tags not update? Do I need to do something? I do not want to go back and redo all 128 door tags.

The right is my 2nd floor RCP, in which I cannot get the door jambs (orange lines) to turn off. Cut Planes are set identically in the two dwgs. I thought the Display Configuration settings were identical in the 2 dwgs, but clearly they're not.
View 4 Replies View RelatedCurrently our door schedule populates when the doors are inserted into the drawing. I would like to know if I can set the schedule up so it populates when the door is tagged. Our doors are inserted into a base plan and that base plan is xrefed into various sheets.
The doors are tagged in one of these sheets and not the base plan. It takes too much time to stop and set up the schedule to schedule the doors across the xref for every project we do. I have read several articles but none of them explain how to schedule from the tag that I can see. I thought this was how the schedule was set up in a previous version.
I am trying to number my doors, and the door tag (AEC6_Door_Tag), won't let me create door numbers with 3 digits. I have never had this problem before. It keeps creating tags with 2 digits.

When I go into Style Manager and click on the door shcedule and try to add columns size does NOT come up as a choice. I have added size to the property sets of the doors. I have tried everything I can remember from older versions of Autocad and it just won't put in this bit of information.
