View 6 RepliesNew to Architecture, and am having trouble figuring out how to make the exterior of walls a different material than the interior...
View 8 Replies View RelatedI don't know if I am doing something wrong but I made exterior elevations in views for a building and the interior partitions are also displayed. An exterior elevation should only display exterior walls.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm drawing individual guest rooms for a hotel that I would like to xref into the main floor plans. The walls between the rooms are 8" wide. I would like to only show half the width of those walls (4") so when xrefed againt another guest room in the main floor plan, the total width would be 8". But I would like for the one side of the 4" wall to appear as a centerline on the individual plans, but at the same time, be able to shut the centerlines off on the main floor plans. I'm new to ACA 2012 and perhaps I'm going about this in the wrong way.........?????

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am currently modeling a 2-Story Home. I have everything modeled the way I want it, but when I go to the elevations I see a gap where the siding and the sheathing don't touch between floors.
My exterior walls:
Core: 3 1/2" stud + 1/2" SheathingExterior: Air Barrier + 3/4" SidingInterior: 1/2" Gyp BdMy floors: Main:
Core: 3/4" Sub-Floor + 11 7/8" TJI + 1 1/2" Rim-JoistMy Floors: SecondCore: 3/4" Sub-Floor + 11 7/8" TJI
The floors are modeled to the stud to allow sheathing and siding to extend. I knew of this situation beforehand because tutorials on the interwebs say this is the way to combat your problem:
I go into the my exterior wall, select edit type, edit structure, (set preview to section) select siding, and then zoom in on the bottom of the wall in the section preview. The bottom of the siding highlights and a "unlock" toggle appears. I unlock it. I do the same to the sheathing. Then I go to my elevations, cut a section, and zoom in to extend the sheathing and siding.
Side Bar: Why don't the two extend independently? They should.
To the top of wall below.
Part of the design for vinyl siding includes corner trim pieces, it's a standard application. We would like to show that in our models, how to creat a vertical sweep. Is there any way to add a small piece like this in a wall type? It must extend the full height of the wall, and appear only at the corners.
Also, in many of our models, we employ a dutch gable roof style on the front with a wood shingle facade. On the top of the shingles are vertical metal battens spaced evenly from top to bottom. I am wondering/ hoping if there might be a way to add this feature (battens) to a wall type.
In assigning a material for a new wall exterior component, I see no other material option other than brick, yet there are many materials sutable.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am creating a folding door model and would like to use a parameter called EXERIOR WALL OFFSET. I have used this parameter before but am having trouble getting it to work within my family. The only difference is that I created one frame/jamb instead of 4 seperate profiles. The question is, why can't i get the jamb to move within the wall using the exterior wall offset parameter? It seems to move the sash/panels just fine but the jamb is constrainted somehow.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI'm learning how to texture a tyre. I've applied the Unwrap UVW modifier to a torus. Then I've applied Flatten Mapping. After that I've manually rearranged the surfaces as can be seen in the below picture. Now the thing is, my teacher has asked me to apply Relax tool, especially Relax by Face angles. I can't figure it out how to use it.
I've read the Autodesk Document for this but its too technical. Also, how should my uvw mapping look in the end?
I can make a curved wall, now I need to make a "cylinder" wall or a closed curved wall. If a curved wall can be closed I cannot figure it out.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to create a wall style that has 2 components, a framed wall and a brick veneer. What I would like to do is have this wall react a certain way when I insert a window. Basically, I don't want the window to cut into the brick veneer, only the framing.
I have attached my attempt so far, and I have not figured out how to get the window to only cut the framed portion.
I am having trouble cleaning up different wall types joining at or close to a corner. I tried to over ride the clean up radius....no luck.
View 9 Replies View RelatedAm using the "pre-defined" walls in Autocad Architecture 2010, with equally pre-defined windows.
I have found where to change ("Edit window style") virtually every parameter of the window, e.g. frame and sash depths.
However - I can not find a way to change the position of the the glass in the window relative to the interior/exterior of the wall. (see attached image for clarification)
I hope I am making myself understood - the glass could for example (assuming the depth of the frame is the same as that of the wall it sits in) be located 40mm from the exterior of the wall - or 10mm.
I can convert a wall to a curtain wall but not a curtain wall to a wall. When converting a wall to a curtain wall I select wall in the design pallette right click apply to wall select the wall and it changes to a curtain wall. When I try converting a curtain wall to a wall I right click on curtain wall select apply properties to wall then go to select the curtain wall but I cannot select the curtain wall as a wall?
I simply want to convert an existing curtain wall to another wall type how is that done/
I am trying to create wall by faces of a Mass I modelled.
This is the Mass: [URL]
Everytime I try to create a wall by face of one exactly face, it accept Location Line: By Finish Face Interior only, when I try to change ANY other Location Line, it gives me a message error.
[URL]
And it is always from the SAME FACE highlighted at the picture.
The mass was made by the floors and top edges. I select all of the edges and create a mass from down to top.
All the other faces are ok and they accept the wall by face and let them change the Location Line except this one.
I would like ask if I create wall from mass by using wall by face. However, the walls have slope and they are not connected to each other.
(Please see the picture) When I would like to edit wall only option shows in modify is update to face. Do they have any way to edit this wall as normal?
I want to do a similar image where the background 'becomes' the skin of the person in the foreground. In this image it's as though the house and the woman are each a bit of one another.

In that, there is a part where a boy's face is in a brick wall, you can see his face. How can i make that? The lines of the brick wall follow every curve of his face, its like 3d, I hope you understand what I mean. I tried that with the displace filter, it doesn't work that good. I can't find a pic of that anywhere either.

I’m wondering if there is a way to calculate the area of double face of a given wall. For exam, say that we have a wall of 4x4x0.1 meter then the area of one face is 16m2 while the double face is 32m2. Does the Revit calculate the double face of a given wall?

I created two three dimensional shapes that are extruded at different angles. How do I
1) move one of the shapes so that it intercepts the other shape and

I love CC's multicam feature, but keep having this problem:
In Pluraleyes, I would lay all my Cam 1 material on video track 1 (multiple clips), then Cam 2 on video track 2 (multiple clips), add my audio, and create a multicam track that kept all Cam 1 clips on track 1 and all Cam 2 clips on track 2.
in Premiere Pro CC, multicam creation can only be exectued via the browser, not the timeline. So Premiere syncs everything up and throws each clip onto the next video track up, leaving you with a mountain of timeline media that reads out tiny and jumps all over the place when viewed in the multicam monitor (see picture).
What I'm after:
- the ability to create multicam sequences based on the timeline (lay out all clips from each cam on whichever video track I want, select all, then choose "create multicam sequence") so that the end result isn't 20 video tracks I have to manually collapse into 2 (time waster).
I used to be able to snap to the end of the linework that form the visual end or intersection of walls while grip dragging a wall of one style to another. For example, using a wallstyle as a countertop, I'd be able to drag it to the corner of a room and use object snap to the intersection. In ACA 2012, the object snap defaults to the justification plane of the wall even if that's not where the intersection snap is desired.
