AutoCAD Architecture :: Drawing Reverts To Wireframe Every Time Close It?
Nov 23, 2011
After doing a few renders, my drawing now reverts to wireframe every time I close it, save it, regen. how to stop this from happening? It will basically not stay in 2D wireframe and the dwg has become very sluggish.

In model space, my walls all show with correct colors. However, when I go into a tab, the viewport is showing my walls in different colors than what I have specified. There are no overrides within the viewport. The display is 2D wireframe. If I change the display to 3D wireframe, the colors change to the correct ones, but the dimension hashes are also in wireframe, not filled. Why the 2D display is changing my wall colors and how I can change these to show as I want them to?

Ok some times when I go to run details it pops up that it can not load the component database AecDtlComponents (US).mdb file. I go to options and can not do anything there. So I have to close it all down and hope when I reload AA it works. 9 out of 10 times it does. But this is a pain to do when ever you need to add detail stuff. Oh also this happens on more then one computer in the office. running 2012 with sp and all updates on windows 7

I am in need of creating a solid drawing from my wireframe drawing in model space. I have never done any 3d modeling in autocad before it took me a few days just to get the wireframe of a staircase done! I have tried to render this object in viewport but it disappears after I click on it or move around, therefore I cannot see it in my paper layout. How do I make a rendered object stay? Also I want to plot this on 22x34in and 11x17in paper, how would I go about getting a high quality rendered image. I am using autocad 2010.

I downloaded multi-batch as someone here said they like it for batch plotting. Once installed, however, it has changed a setting in AutoCAD. I can no longer open more than one drawing at a time. If I have a drawing open and try to open another drawing it asks me if I want to save the current open drawing.
I can not close a drawing either without exiting AutoCAD or trying to open another drawing. I un-installed multi-batch but it did not fix the problem.

I'm having an issue where AutoCad Architecture 2011 is crashing on some but not all machines (4 total) when a file is closed.
We are also getting what appears to be random slow downs on files when opening and a jumpy mouse that makes drawing impossible. I have not been able to establish a pattern to point at specific files to being the problem as it happens across several the are fine one day, not fine the next and fine again a day later. All stations are identical.

I was in Block Editor and when I hit the save changes button it closed my drawing. Now when I open the drawings, the only thing in it is the block, but it is exploded. I can not find any of the information that was in the drawing. The file size is still 1.3 MB. I would have to lose the 3 hours of work I have done and go to a previous version file of the drawings I was in.

I have been running PSCS3 for quite a while. I just installed it into a new system. Just about every time I try to shut it down, it takes 5 minutes or more to shut. Often I need to use the task manager to close and it takes several attempts to close.
FWIW, Bridge CS3 can have the same problem.
I have 3 GB RAM. 3.00 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core.

Every Time I select IMPORT on LR5 I have to "browse" and click several of the little triangles and navigate to the folder I want to import from. It seems to me in LR4 whenever I imported the File tree was left the way it was when it was shut down. I am not sure if I am expressing myself like I should it just gets frustrating becuase I am doing a Lot of importing from a Cloud source (dropbox camera uploads folder) and each time I have to browse from C Drive >USERS>USER NAME>DROPBOX>Camera uploads that is like 5 clicks every time I do it which is several times a day latley.

I am working with an action macro to be able to use the EXPORT PDF option (save into current folder as DWG with no user input) / save the current drawing / and close.
At present i am able to get the macro to export the pdf and then (user input to directory to save and to overwrite the previous file) then save the file but cannot close the drawing.

I've seen this happen with a couple of the previous releases, but not for some time. After the CLOSE command is issued, the drawing graphics remain displayed but no AutoCAD specific keyboard or mouse input is accepted. More of an annoyance, I guess, as Control + O will then allow opening of another drawing file. This just started today for no apparent reason after using 2014 for the past week or so. Prior to this happening, my workstation locked up completely while trying to close a CAD file and Task Manager wouldn't take any input.

How do I get the draw order to stay the way I want when I close and reopen a drawing? I even think that a couple times, without even closing and reopening the drawing, the draw order has flipped back to the way I don't want it after changing it.

I found several methods to alter the regen times, but not ways to SPEED them up.For example: I switch from layout tab to layout tab and my regen time can be up to 30 seconds (I know, doesn't sound long, but it's killing me).How do I speed this up??

I was wondering if there is a way to reset the time tracking in AutoCAD. For example, If I use an existing drawing as a starting point for a new drawing, even if I save with a new file name, AutoCAD tracks form the time the original document was created.

Over the past year we have had a problem arise on three projects and I can't seem to track down the cause. The first job it only happened once, the second it happened a few times and now on this third project it has happened twice in three days.
The issue is the dst file becomes corrupt and all of our sheet set info is lost. The backup of the dst file is overwritten every few minutes it seems and by the time we notice a problem, the backup has been overwritten by the corrupt file.
A few questions:
1) What is causing the problem? In reading other posts it seems to have something to do with more than one user writing to the file at the same time (but, this last time it happened, only one person in the office was working on the job).
2) Can we change the time between backups?
3) Is there an easier way to rebuild the sheet set?

Drawing are clean, purged, -purged, recovered audited. Computer is new workstation and dedicated to CAD only. Very little opportunity for corrupted files.

Can you have a database and the dwg file open at the same time and not be in read-only mode?
For example: I have access database file open and editing it while in the dwg file with the graphical info that is linked to the database.

I seem to remember a command that you could input which would show you detail info about when a drawing was originally open and how much time it the drawing had been open. But of course I do not recall what the command was.

I get an error every time I open any drawing after it has been saved in 2013. Opening a dwg that was created in an earlier version does not give the error, but after I save it in 2013, it does.
If I create a new dwg in 2013, save it, close it and then open it I don't get the error the first time. But then if I save that dwg again, I will get it the next time I open it.
The exact error is:
One error was found in the drawing file during open. Would you like to cancel this open?It is recommended you cancel the open and run the RECOVER command on the drawing file.
I run the recover command. It says it found, fixed, and erased 1 error. I save, close, and reopen the drawing and the error still appears every time.

Every time I try to open a drawing I get the pop up stating that it can't be opened because of incomplete or corrupt information and needs to be recovered, but when I recover the file the audit doesn't find any errors. I can open the file, but this is kind of annoying to have to do this each time. I've purged the drawing, ran an audit, and verified that there aren't any problematic blocks or anything like that.

I used to be able to open a drawing then close it right away, if it was not the drawing I was looking for, as long as I didn't pan, zoom, or do anything else. Almost a year ago I had a pop-up with-in AutoCAD that they reccommend I make this selection. I can't remember what it said really, it was something about a script or lisp loading at each drawing opening. Well, the result is the 'Drawing 1' does not disappear when I open another drawing and I would like that to stop. Also as I said it does it to every drawing. how to stop this? I tried the 'startup' command and that is not it. It is not a big thing just something I think is a waste of my time having to close that drawing each time I open AutoCAD. Not sure it matters but I am using AutoCAD 2012

It seems unlike previous PC's, when i sart up AutoCAD my new set up reverts the location of the tool palletes to open center to my screen 1 even after i have positioned it on screen two.
I understand the tool palette should hold its location in the position i last placed it.. in screen two. as do you toolbars....
Why does the tool palette keep reverting back the center location on my screen, not where it was placed
