AutoCad :: Can't Close A Drawing Either Without Exiting / Try To Open Another Drawing

Nov 10, 2011

I downloaded multi-batch as someone here said they like it for batch plotting. Once installed, however, it has changed a setting in AutoCAD. I can no longer open more than one drawing at a time. If I have a drawing open and try to open another drawing it asks me if I want to save the current open drawing.

I can not close a drawing either without exiting AutoCAD or trying to open another drawing. I un-installed multi-batch but it did not fix the problem.

AutoCAD LT :: Exiting Drawing By Clicking On Small X In Upper Right Corner Of Drawing

Oct 31, 2011

When exiting a drawing by clicking on the small X in the upper right corner of the drawing, my program routinely "stops working".  I get the error message that it has stopped working and it closes.  No chance to save work in other drawings open at the time.  I often have three or four drawings open so my only workaround is to go through each and save, then close the one I want to close, let the system crash and reopen the other drawings.  It does not crash every time but several times a day.

Xara :: Close Documents Dialog When Exiting Edit Group Mode?

Sep 21, 2011

When X7 and its Group Editing mode first came out, there were grumblings about the "Closing Document" dialog that appears when clicking on the little "X" found on the Edit Inside tab.

I am sure most folks have found that can all be bypassed (assuming you want to keep the edits you just made). But for those that haven't, simply click the Save Icon in the Standard Toolbar.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Drawing Graphics Still Display When CLOSE Command Invoked

Apr 16, 2013

I've seen this happen with a couple of the previous releases, but not for some time.  After the CLOSE command is issued, the drawing graphics remain displayed but no AutoCAD specific keyboard or mouse input is accepted.  More of an annoyance, I guess, as Control + O will then allow opening of another drawing file.  This just started today for no apparent reason after using 2014 for the past week or so.  Prior to this happening, my workstation locked up completely while trying to close a CAD file and Task Manager wouldn't take any input.

AutoCAD 2010 :: Drawing 1 Does Not Allow To Close Without Selecting Save Or Don't Save

May 15, 2013

I used to be able to open a drawing then close it right away, if it was not the drawing I was looking for, as long as I didn't pan, zoom, or do anything else.  Almost a year ago I had a pop-up with-in AutoCAD that they reccommend I make this selection.  I can't remember what it said really, it was something about a script or lisp loading at each drawing opening.  Well, the result is the 'Drawing 1' does not disappear when I open another drawing and I would like that to stop.  Also as I said it does it to every drawing.  how to stop this?  I tried the 'startup' command and that is not it.  It is not a big thing just something I think is a waste of my time having to close that drawing each time I open AutoCAD.  Not sure it matters but I am using AutoCAD 2012

AutoCAD .NET :: Make A New Drawing Or Open One?

Aug 15, 2013

In one of my application I want to open a drawing and make a new one.That doesnt work. So I copy following code from the

[CommandMethod("NewDrawing", CommandFlags.Session)]
public static void NewDrawing()
{
string strTemplatePath = "acadiso.dwt";
DocumentCollection acDocMgr  = Application.DocumentManager;
acDocMgr.DocumentActivationEnabled = true;
Autodesk.AutoCAD.ApplicationServices.Document acDoc = DocumentCollectionExtension.Add(acDocMgr, strTemplatePath);
// Alternatively: Autodesk.AutoCAD.ApplicationServices.Document acDoc = Application.DocumentManager.Add(strTemplatePath);
acDocMgr.MdiActiveDocument = acDoc;
}

At the end the MdiActiveDocument is still the drawing which where open before a new document is created.

BTW: I'm using 2013 and 2014. This method works fine in 2010.

Whats the different between 2013/ 2014 and 2010.

AutoCAD .NET :: Saving A Drawing That Is Open But Not Active?

Nov 15, 2012

using dwgDB.saveas on a drawing database that the user has open but NOT current on his screen?

For example, the user has DWG1 open and DWG2 open and currently active, my program modifies DWG1 (inactive) and when the program tries to run...

dwg1DB.SaveAs(filename, true, DwgVersion.Current, dwg1DB.SecurityParameters)

it errors with an elock violation, even though I lock the document with dwg1DOC.LockDocument before I try to save and unlock it after.

The same code runs fine on the current document so at this time I just ended making the other document current just to save it then switch back to previously current document.

What am I missing to save a document that is open but not current?

AutoCAD 2010 :: Open Drawing Order

Jan 22, 2013

When I open more than one drawing the second drawing that I open does not show (but is opened) I see the first drawing that was already open. If I open a third drawing, the same thing happens the first drawing shows ( but the second and third are both open).

Is this something to do with changing the Quick View Drawings Order?
