AutoCAD Architecture :: Date And Timestamp
Apr 13, 2011
How to put on the prints, an automatically updating date and time stamp? I have 2012 installed on my computer, I have used the field command, but it does not automatically update the date and time, when you print, edit, or modify the drawing. I do know that if you publish, your drawings, you can put the date and time stamp on it, but If you print a layout tab one at a time using the plot command, you do not have the option to print the date and time stamp?

All of a sudden I notice that when I open a file in Autocad Architecture, it shows the file creation date and not the actual last save date. Only thing I can think of is I reinstalled 3dsmax Design and I wonder if that changed something. I attached a screenshot for reference.

Is there anyway to get a timestamp onto the idw. I have been using the one that could be down loaded that Steve Krause had made but that one doesn't work on a 64 bit machine.

I notice that whenever I plot with DWG to PDF.pc3 the filename for the PDF always comes out as:
(.dwg file name)-(paper space name).pdf
Is there any way to change the inputs for this? Let's say for example I wanted AutoCAD to automatically insert a timestamp at the end for me, so that the filename is always:
(.dwg file name)-(paper space name)-(date and time here).pdf
This would keep me better organized and also make it easier for my less computer savvy coworkers to go through old drawings and see changes between drawings. I know I could type it by hand every single time, but why do that if there's a way to have AutoCAD do it for me

To remind me when the video was taken, I'd like to have a timecode / timestamp overlaid on the video.
Per the VS X4 User Guide: To enable timecode retrieval for AVCHD
1. In the Capture Step Options Panel, click Import from Digital Media.
2. Select the thumbnail of the video file. Click Start import to launch Import Settings.
3. In Import Destination, select Insert to Timeline or select Add video date information as title.
4. Choose Entire video to import the timecode of video file to appear as a title spanning the entire duration of the video. Choose Duration to import the timecode as a title within a specified duration. Click OK to apply the settings.

I'm trying to import my photo collection (17000+) from iphoto to Elements organizer and am getting problems: The directory structure created becomes incredibly complex (many folders that include only 1 picture and many duplicates) and the worst of all is that many pictures get now as a date the new daten when they were imported. Is there a way to keep their original dates instead?

I have included both a text and a date as part of the photo caption on each of my photos. When I have attempted to search for a specific date or year, however, nothing comes up. For example, if I search for my photo on "Fido 1985", I can find Fido, but if I simply enter "1985", I get nothing.

Has it become a possible option to automatically grab the Date-of-shoot (instead of the DAYToday) when renaming files (that should show shooting- date) in LR5?

I've got some 500 photos in a folder which were imported on two different dates. I've created a new album on the right hand side under "Organize" and just the photos I want are in there. When I look at the folder on the right, all the pictures are there. But I can't call up just that folder; instead what I get on my screen is all 2500 photos in all my photo albums! Not what I want! What I want to get is all the photos in the order in which they were taken on the actual day as all 500 photos were taken at the same day. And I want to be able to view just the 500 photos in that folder by the time those pictures were taken. But, when I imported the second batch of photos it showed the date the file was created rather than the date the photo was taken so, basically, I've got one batch of photos showing the date they were taken (which I downloaded via a link a few days later), and one showing the date they were copied!

I recently set up Elements 12. Prior to this I used elements 11. In that catalog I have more photos that I don't want. So I decided to export the ones I want then import into PSE 12. As I do this many of the dates on the pictures change from the date taken to the current date. I have tried several different ways and can't stop the dates changing. I am putting them into mobile albums in PSE 12 if that makes a difference.

Why does the capture date in the metadata panel not match the capture date seen in the grid extra view and how do I fix it? The images that I have in my library are digitized negatives and I've corrected the capture dates and times to be accurate; however, the capture date and in the metadata window shows what I've changed it to and the date in both the grid extra view and the Metadata>Edit Capture Time... options both reflect the date the image was last modified. Not all of the images in my library are this way and some show the correct information. When sorted by Capture Time, all images fall exactly where they should in the proper order (based on the changed, corrected edit time and not the modified date). I saved metadata to the file with the new date but it didn't fix it.

I updated my computer to windows 7 32 bit and need the file: AdskHwCertificationDatabase.xml - version 17.1.0.4 so that I can find out the correct driver for my OS and my quadrofx 1700 graphics card. Autodesk doesn't support 2008 Architecture and the on;y file I can find is buried in a torrent file with a pirated copy of 2008 and I DO NOT wish to download that.

I have been working with a file for about a month with no problems, the EG Surface was built from existing 2D polylines at an elevation (topo) that I received from another engineering firm. I was able to build the surface, build my alignments, profiles and set grades. While setting pads, the surface became out of date. I have re-built it, but then the surface disappears. When the surface is there, (I go back to and re-open the file) and so any grading, the dwg locks up. I have "Saved AS" any time I make big changes. The current file is only 4.5 MB, the last dwg that shows the surface is 16.3 MB. (the files range up to 20 MB)
This is a 65 lot sub-division, with one main road, 1 dead end, 2 cul-de-sacs, and 1 loop roadway, approximately 11 Acres
My background is coming from Land Developer, the first Civil 3D software was 2009, back in 2008. The firm I am with now has Civil 3D 2014, and I am mucking my way through, most of the commands are the same. Not sure if I am doing something wrong, or if there is a glitch in 2014. I can upload the file.
I have tried to re-create the surface in a new dwg, then use that as a reference, but when I try to create the new surface, I am only getting errors. (polylines are crossing) I adjust all the crossings, and then try to build it, but nothing seems to be working.

I'm using ACA2012 x64 but I suppose this question is applicable to all flavors of AutoCAD. Is there a routine that will insert today's date in a drawing and update that entry when the drawing is opened? Fieldeval won't update date fields.

Inside VS 2010 the datetime components format the date string as "dd/MM/yyyy"
Inside autocad 2012 the date formatting is "dd/MM/yyyy"
but inside the .net appication that I am writing, the date.now returns "MM/dd/yyyy" and the compents also reformat to "MM/dd/yyyy" so I end up with lots of "invalid date string" errors

I have a configuration file (.xlsx) where I have put in Client, project number and a date (as a custom iproperty). These cells are linked to the iProperties in the IDWs. The project number and client works well, however im struggling with the date. The date is written dd.mm.yyyy in excel, and Date1 is set to date type.
Date1 = GoExcel.CellValue(ThisDoc.Path & "Project configuration.xlsx", "Sheet1", "D4")
When I run the rule Date1 changes type from Date to Number, and inserts a random number.
By inserting this
Date1 = DateString()
The date is converted to mm-dd-yyyy, but with wrong dates. If I write 15.10.2013 in Excel it will write the date as 08-01-2013. How to get it written lik 15.10.2013?

Currently in autocad we start the print/plot command and then the command line shows options for the drawing stamp. There are several options including for approval, approved for construction, test only and others. When the appropriate number associated with the correct drawing stamp it lets you pick an insertion point and inserts the drawing stamp with a current date under the stamp to show when the drawing was plotted. After the drawing stamp is inserted it returns to the print/plot dialog.
If any IV users have a similar drawing stamp with date that is put on their drawings, I would like to hear how it was accomplished.
I have played with a sketched symbol and with ilogic can insert the symbol and start the print/plot command but I do not know how to make the stamp selection in ilogic automatic with a parameter or iproperty.
If ilogic is the way to go with this or any other options to accomplish the drawing stamp insertions with current date.

In the drawing title block I would like to place a text reading the print, date and time. This should reflect the current system date and time. I would have this done on the template file so that all new drawings will have this feature builtin.
Is there a property that i can have the text to link to?
Is there any third party program for this?

I've recently begun using the "DWG to PDF.pc3" plotter/printer for making PDF files of my AutoCAD 2013 drawings because it's quite a lot faster than using the "Adobe PDF" plotter/printer that I have been using up to now.
But today I noticed something very odd: After I create a PDF file using the "DWG to PDF.pc3" plotter/printer, when I go into Windows Explorer (the file manager) and click on a file to select it, the file shows the "Date Created" and "Date Modified" as being "11/27/2007 9:11 AM" even though the file was actually created today, 4/18/2013 at 3:01 PM. If I right-click the file and select Properties, the General tab shows this incorrect date and time for the Created and Modified data, as well as the Accessed data, which you can see in screen capture 1 attached.
Before you ask the obvious: yes, my computer's date and time ARE set correctly. This is as if AutoCAD has some sort of "internal" clock that's set to the wrong time, the wrong dthe wrong year, and is assigning that wrong information to the finished PDF file... very weird.
And then opening the file in Acrobat itself, when I click on the File menu and then on Properties, the Document Properties window appears and shows the data contained within the file: and it is the CORRECT Created and Modified date & time! You can see this in screen capture 2, also attached.
So it seems as if the "DWG to PDF.pc3" printer/plotter is creating the file correctly, and placing the correct Date and Time data inside the file for Acrobat's use, but is coming up with this bizarre time on a date over 5 years in the past as the data that Windows "sees" in the file's Properties.
I'm simply baffled by this. It wouldn't bother me so much except for the fact that we make many corrections and updates to files without changing or "dating" the file name, and my boss frequently asks me to sort the files within a folder by the Date Modified, so we can find the latest revision.
