I'm trying to import my photo collection (17000+) from iphoto to Elements organizer and am getting problems: The directory structure created becomes incredibly complex (many folders that include only 1 picture and many duplicates) and the worst of all is that many pictures get now as a date the new daten when they were imported. Is there a way to keep their original dates instead?
View 4 Repliesjust installed Photoshop Elements 11 on my Mac OS X. Everytime I try to import photos from iPhoto the import process will go through until it is almost finished, then a notification will pop up saying that the import failed. Once I click "OK" on that dialogue box a new box will pop up saying that a few (6) pictures were unable to be imported for various reasons, but that the rest of my pictures were imported. I am then unable to find any pictures anywhere in Photoshop Elements. I have tried to import photos 7 or 8 times with the same result everytime.

2090 Media files have been imported. 19 Media files were not imported because the either already present in the catalog or are not supported.
Am running iphoto 9.5 on macbook pro. Installed Elements 11 onto macbook and although I have sucessfully managed to import all my photos into the "organiser" all the carefully catergorised "Events"in iphoto have imported as just a selection of namesless files as oppossed to "Albums"

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have moved from a PC using PS7 to edit and ACDSee to manage my photos. I am now on the latest iMac using CS6 to edit and Bridge to manage my photos. Many of my photos started out as scans by ScanCafe.
I can successfully load into Bridge an old photo file that started as a scan then was renamed by ACDSee ( and possible editied by PS7). i can also further edit the photo in CS6 and rename in Bridge. However, when I try to import the result into iPhoto (I want to use Faces) the file name is not properly picked up by iPhoto and called a Title. I can successfully import the original file (scan plus ACDSee rename) and iPhoto pickes up the Title from the file name.
When this doesn't work properly, I can slect the photo in iPhoto and click on Info but the Title field is blank on the top RHS of the screen. If I scroll over the blank title, a pop-up shows the correct Title. So there appears to be a disconnect as the file is passed between these software packages.
Can I import iPhoto library into Elements 10 and delete iPhoto library?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am using Iphoto with PSE11 but when I save the edited (JPG) image it will not let me revert to the original image. If I select the saved photo with Iphoto it will only let me re-edit it with an external editor (PSE11). This works fine but I can't "Revert to Original" in PSE11. If I try to re-edit it with Iphoto which has the "Revert to Original" button I get the message "Photo edited in an external editor so can't be edited in Iphoto. Duplicate photo to edit in Iphoto". If I do this I still cannot get back to the original unedited picture.
There is an obvious way to get round this by duplicating the original image before doing any external editor editing but there must be an automatic way which I am missing.
I've recently upgraded to PSE 11 from PSE 10. Previously, when I click edit in iphoto, the photo that I want to edit automatically opens up in PSE 10 and I can do my edit rightaway.
However, the photo does not open up automatically in PSE 11 now. My computer will launch PSE 11 but I have to manually load the photo for editing. I've done the necessary settings in iphoto (i.e edit using external editor) but it's still not working like it used to.
Is this a change in feature in PSE 11.
I have just upgraded from Elements 9 to 11. I had no issues exporting from iphoto to 9, worked a treat. I have configured everything exactly the same, checked and double checked all the preferences and it will not work automatically. I can manually export to my desk to and it works fine, the raw file shows up in the bridging application and I can do whatever I need to. However, this is a bit long winded and as it worked so well before it is a little frustrating..

I then select Photos and all my iPhoto and Photo Booth files open. But I cannot click on (well, I can click on them but nothing happens) any photo to pull it into PE6. It seems a simple operation, but apparently not for me!
