Am running iphoto 9.5 on macbook pro. Installed Elements 11 onto macbook and although I have sucessfully managed to import all my photos into the "organiser" all the carefully catergorised "Events"in iphoto have imported as just a selection of namesless files as oppossed to "Albums"

Whilst I realise that I can import my catalogue and photos, which should also create all my keywords, I am concerned that the existing keywords/tags parent/child structure would be lost? They would be created as a single contiguous list?
How to go about moving the tags across whilst maintaining the original structure AND remaining associated with the correct photos?
I'm trying to import my photo collection (17000+) from iphoto to Elements organizer and am getting problems: The directory structure created becomes incredibly complex (many folders that include only 1 picture and many duplicates) and the worst of all is that many pictures get now as a date the new daten when they were imported. Is there a way to keep their original dates instead?

Everytime I try to import photos from iPhoto the import process will go through until it is almost finished, then a notification will pop up saying that the import failed. Once I click "OK" on that dialogue box a new box will pop up saying that a few (6) pictures were unable to be imported for various reasons, but that the rest of my pictures were imported. I am then unable to find any pictures anywhere in Photoshop Elements. I have tried to import photos 7 or 8 times with the same result everytime.

2090 Media files have been imported. 19 Media files were not imported because the either already present in the catalog or are not supported.
I am a new Mac user - recently insalled Photoshop elements 9 and tried to import my photos which are all in iPhoto at the moment into the organiser. I went via the 'Get files > import from iPhoto' menu and I keep getting a messsage tab saying 'no suitable media'.
I clicked the share in iPhoto and also tried via the getting files directly route (you only get the 'iPhoto library' that way not the individual files - any combo of clicking wont seem to let me see the files there).
I am just starting to use Photoshop Elements 12 Organizer. I do not want to import my entire iPhoto library however, so how can I import ONLY ONE or a select group of events or albums?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have moved from a PC using PS7 to edit and ACDSee to manage my photos. I am now on the latest iMac using CS6 to edit and Bridge to manage my photos. Many of my photos started out as scans by ScanCafe.
I can successfully load into Bridge an old photo file that started as a scan then was renamed by ACDSee ( and possible editied by PS7). i can also further edit the photo in CS6 and rename in Bridge. However, when I try to import the result into iPhoto (I want to use Faces) the file name is not properly picked up by iPhoto and called a Title. I can successfully import the original file (scan plus ACDSee rename) and iPhoto pickes up the Title from the file name.
When this doesn't work properly, I can slect the photo in iPhoto and click on Info but the Title field is blank on the top RHS of the screen. If I scroll over the blank title, a pop-up shows the correct Title. So there appears to be a disconnect as the file is passed between these software packages.
Can I import iPhoto library into Elements 10 and delete iPhoto library?

In PSE12 how does one display the icons under the event tab in a categorized tree structure?
In my PSE10 catalog, I have a highly structured event tag tree for 30,000 pictures and videos covering 15 years. This tree has annual main categories and then numerous events in 2nd level subcategories under each year. Below that are tags for which camera/person took the picture as well as other tags for videos, panorama-segments etc. Altogether there are probably several hundred or more subcategories. After importing the catalog into PSE 12 all of these subcategories show up in the top level display causing massive duplication that scrolls for 12 or more screens.
The PSE12 event tab is useless if it can only display every subcategory all at once in a flattened format. I also do not see any way to move these subcategories out of the events tag area and into the keyword tag area to eliminate clutter.
I'm a first time user of elements organiser 11. I imported all of my photos from iphoto and I am busy creating albums, events, geo tagging etc.
I love the events view which is what pursuaded me to move from iphoto however its incredibly frustratng having created an event to then find you missed one or two photo's and want to add them to the event, it seems impossible without deleting the whole event and then creating another.
Am I being really thick or have adobe missed this use case. I'd have thought it was a pretty obvious requirement.
I upgraded from 7 to 11. 11 recognized my people tags, but not my event tags. I have 9484 pictures without any event tags.
View 1 Replies View RelatedWhile the Version Sets in my current catalog are collapsed, the version sets in the Catalog on the new computer have all become 'expanded'; this is unacceptable to me, as many of the pairs that are stacked as Version Sets have become separated. While all of the Version Sets are "tagged", it looks as though many of the photos in the expanded sets are without tags. Problem #2 is that the hierarchy of Keyword Tags that I currently use is lost when the Catalog is restored in the new computer's Organizer. I currently use about 500 Keyword Tags, divided into 6 categories (i.e. People, Places, Locations, Events, Other, Bird Species). On the new computer, the tags are alphabetized without being separated into their 6 categories. I currently have close to 30,000 items in my Catalog, and have spent hundreds, perhaps thousands, of hours editing (and saving both the original and edited files as Version Sets), tagging and captioning all of my photos. I followed the instructions previously published in "Photoshop Elements Help" regarding backup to an external hard drive and restoring the files in an empty Organizer on the new computer. I also used the "Save Keyword Tags To File" command before the backup. I do have the intact "current" Catalog on my old computer, complete with tags and captions, collapsed version sets, and a list of Keyword Tags organized in the Hierarchy that has worked best for me.
