I had received a DWG file from my associate through e-mail which she had saved from AutoCAD as a 2007 year format.
I have AutoCAD Architecture 2011 and should be able to open any DWG file, correct? But I can't seem to. When I try to open it, a message pops up that says, "Drawing file is not valid". I have gone into the file properties and I have full accessibility to the file and the "read only" option is unchecked.
I've recieved a drawing from a customer and i'm unable to load it. When I open it, it asks to be recovered because of a damaged file. I hit the recover button and starts to load the file but after a while comes up with an error saying "FATAL ERROR: Out of memory - shutting down." Is the file just corrupted? My memory isn't even being used. Specs are i7-2600 3.40 ghz, 16gb ram and sli nvidia 570 gtx cards.
I've also tried the recover command, but it did the same thing.
There was a second drawing they sent me too, but it comes up with a fatal error 0x0050. I've attached both drawings.
In my project navigator, when I want to open an Elevation file it says to Read-only. How can open the file to work in it.

But, when I go to the menu and select "File" then "Open" to open up my CAD files nothing happens. My screen just hangs and the ribbon turns a faint white color. I can't open any of my CAD files from the program. In order to stop CAD from hanging and doing nothing, I press the ESC key and everything is back to normal. I am wondering why CAD will not let me open any of my files from the menu.

If I have an active project, and I open a file via Project Navigator or Windows Explorer, the process hangs for 15-20+ seconds at the 'Opening C:xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.ac$' point, where it is creating the temporary file.
If I 'Close the current project' in the project browser and open the same file via Windows Explorer, the process takes less than a second.
Autocad failes when i tried to directly opening a file from recieved attachment email. whereas it opens it properly when i save the files to hard disk drive.

Only thing I can think of is I reinstalled 3dsmax Design and I wonder if that changed something. I attached a screenshot for reference.

I am currently using AutoCAD LT 2009 on my home computer. My client also has the same AutoCAD at a different geographic location. When I generate a drawing file at home and send it to my client’s computer via email the drawing appearance changes. It appears as though the .dwg file is corrupt in some manner. My dimensions are not in order the font has changed in scale and in type. Most of the text is just inadvertently scattered about.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have CoreDraw X5 installed on my computer. A friend of mine e-mailed me a CorelDraw document she created. I am un able to open it. When I try to open it, CorelDraw opens but does not display the document. So the application is open and I see all the toolbars and everything but the space where I would see the document is grey. I have received CorelDraw documents by e-mail form other friends before without any problem, so it is not the e-mail that is the issue.

Had previously done the verification code thing and got the code and have been sending pics by photo email.Have got PS10 loaded to my Desk Top - main system and also my laptop .When trying now to send pics on my DeskTop I can get to the (maybe second) screen where you choose the size of the phots and then I get the Verification Code screen - which tells me that an 'initial verification code' will be emailed to the chosen email - but when I say continue, I go to the next screen of the Photo email and then when trying to send the phto email it locks up and says an unexpected error has taken place ...
I have sent some photos via the laptop but it seems to be very hit and miss at the moment.Also I have some problems opening PSE10 - When I click on the icon - I get the initial "organise or edit" screen where I choose organise - but then all that happens is this screen closes and the Organiser does not open. Most of the time I'm left with maybe shutting down my whole computer and starting up again and it works again.

This has been working fine and now I cannot send this file. What is going on with my corel program. My mail is working fine I have sent several emails out requesting a reply and they get it fine. When I try and send with the corel file it does not work. When the file is attached it comes back every time.

The original file without the photo was about 1.5 mb. The size of the photo is about 2 mb. After I linked the file and then saved it, my .ai file was 21 mb which is too large to email. Why is the file size so large, especially when the picture is not embedded?

Is there any reason to keep the 2008 version?

ACA2013 was released and I have had it on the desk for some time and finally I got the nerve to load the upgrade. This I did in accordance with the instructions. The upgrade went well.
Additional problems with my working files involved, the file will lose data while working in the file, the program will do strange things to the file like I would lose data while in layout tab within a viewport and the data would still be present in the model tab. I have lost printer setup files only to reopen the drawing and find these have returned.I have lost layout tabs completely. I would reload another menu and they would return. I was speaking to another person comparing Autocads and his had the layout tabs and mine did not.I have zoom scaling problems within the layout viewport. I use to be able to zoom, scale, 1/20xp for 1:20 scale and it would not recognise the command.I was informed via Autodesk to load the service pack Autocad_2013_sp1.14_64, this would not work then I was informed to load the service pack Autocad Architecture _2013_sp1_64 which it did successfully. Still had problems with ACA2013. have situations where the shell command will not work ie punch a hole within the object selected.I have changed from the working model tab to layout tab and back to model tab only to have the view change for no reason ie it will go into (+)(custom view)(wire frame) without selecting it.I have lost data, (part of the actual drawing) within my working drawing simply by using the boeleon subtract command.I have situation when you use the push pull command and nothing happens and then you reopen ACA afresh and try it again and this time it will work.I have email Autodesk in the US and it got alll TO HARD for them and they have abandoned me.
I just installed Autocad Architecture 2009 on a new computer. Content Browser will not open from the drop down menu or from the Start menu. I have now uninstalled Autocad Architecture 2009 and all Autodesk applications, deleting all folders and autocad registry folders then re-installed with no sucess. Everything else seems to be working fine.

I'm not sure what happened but all of a sudden when I try to open an existing drawing it no longer pops up a box to browse, it asks me in my command bar at the bottom to type in the name of the drawing. The same thing happens when I try to "save as" a drawing... How to get this back to normal?

In ACA 2012 there was a nice feature that did the following:
When you finished creating a new Sheet Set in the SSM, it would then immediately open the new Sheet Set in the SSM. (a few seats of ACA 2012 were in use in the office) In ACA2011, it didn't do this. You had to browse for the newly created .dst file to open it. (I was using ACA 2011 at the same time as those others were using ACA 2012).
Now we've all upgraded to ACA 2013 in the office. However, that nice little feature appears to be gone again. Any way to turn that back on in ACA 2013?

It said it cannot find the AecDtlComponents (US).mbd. I have found the database and opened it up. It looks fine.
When I go into my options under AEC content I add a "Detail Component Database" it said "cannot open database... AecDtlComponents.mbd"

We are using Autodesk Architecture 2013 running on 64bit Windows 7 workstations. When I try to access the Detail Component Database I get an error message stating the AecDtlComponents (US).mdb will not open. I went into Tools-->Options-->AEC Content and tried to Add/Remove a database but the list was empty. When I try to Add a database I get the same error message AecDtlComponents (US).mdb will not open.
