trying to make some pdf files from vendor drawing using vendor ctb file, i have placed the ctb file on my c drive, in every directory that contains ctb's, but it is still not showing in autocad
View 6 RepliesHow do we use Vault with an outside vendor that controls a large ‘master layout’ directory of AutoCAD drawings that is given to us each week by way of FTP? How do we update the files in vault without having to check out dozens of files or folders then copy the new files (which often have missing xrefs that have to be fixed before Vault will accept them) into the working directory then check back in the files. This is way too time consuming and complicated to do on a weekly basis.
The simplest procedure we can think of looks like this:
1) Download new set of drawings.
2) Open these drawings in AutoCAD reference manager to fix/remove broken xrefs so Vault will accept them.
3) Check out the entire folder that needs to be updated from Vault
4) Paste the new drawings over the drawings in MyDocsVaultVendor
5) Check all the drawings in through Vault, solving any vaulting issues that may have been missed in the reference manager.
I am trying to make a macro that adds the vendor column to the end of a parts list, sort by it first, then by part number, renumber the parts list, then save the overrides to the BOM. Everything works great except for saving the overrides to the BOM. The item number sort order gets jumbled back up. I am using Inventor 2008 Pro SP2. Below is the

I need to import a pump model from a vendor into a model I've created in MEP 2011. I tried to open the .IAM file in AutoCAD 2013 using the Import function however I keep getting an error which says "The specified file is invalid or unsupported".

The template contains description keys, point styles, point label styles, custom point file formats, figure styles, figure prefix database, line code sets, etc.
How do I transfer all the external files along with the drawing template? Is it a straight forward copy? Etransmit doesn't seem to do it unless additional files are manually included, but I can't figure out what files to include or where they live.

View 4 Replies View Relatedwhen i bind the xref's the file size is increasing up to 50mb. the size of the file before binding is 4.5mb. i tried all the options whic ppl given in the discussion here. purged(all regeapps,zero txts etc.),wblock even some lisps. but all in vain. even i tried to audit but it took 2hrs and nothing happened. this dwg containing only lines poly lines, blocks, txts etc. no images and not even dence hatches also. 1500 drawings like this. i have to submit the softcopy soon.
View 8 Replies View RelatedI have a drawing that has a filesize of 10meg even when there are no entities in the drawing.There are about 1000 lietypes in the drawing but it wont let me purge them out.These are what are most likely causing the bloat.Some things I have tried without success...
Erase all then purge 3x and audit then purge 3x then audit. Qselect shows no entities in drawing.Save back to acad 2007 and repeat above
Whenever I save a drawing, it goes to a temp file. I have to do a 'save as' to bring the dwg back to the original folder. Our in-office guru thought it had something to do with the new AutoCAD 360, but I have never even signed in to that, and when we did open it, nothing was in it.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI received a drawing today that doesn't allow me to choose existing ".ctb" files. Opening the "Plot style table (pen assignments)" from the Page Setup dialogue box. I can choose "Start from scratch" , use a "CFG" file, or "Use a PCP or PC2" file". I do not have any CFG files. I usually use PCP in my "Plot" dialogue box for the plotter pull-down menu.
How to use my plot style "BRhalf.ctb" when plotting this drawing. Also, a "heads-up" on background information on this drawing's plot style options, vs. the plot style options on many other drawings I have plotted.
I am currently using Civil 3D 2013, and when I do a qsave, my drawing gives me the following error dialogue box.
"Drawing File is Write Protected" - I am the only on in the files, so now my file is currently Read Only - then I am able to re-open the same file as the same time I have the currently read only version open.
I am getting this currently after or during Plan Production, creating sheets, and I do a qsave.

Now today any drawing that opens shows the plan view as last saved but then after loading takes the drawing and shifts it into a 3d view similar to a crossection. I recently added 2 monitors to my set up to bring my total to 3. I am trying to figure out the best way to work on one drawing, with 2 differant veiws on each of the 2 main screens.
I would like my main screen to have the plan view and the second monitor to have an isometric veiw (or whatever I need at the time) of the same drawing. Is there a way to have the same drawing opened up in another window, in one session of Autocad 2013. One on the main screen and one on the secondary.
I have AutoCAD 2013 and often "paste special" excel files that automatically update when the excel file changes.The problem I'm running into is I work with a person who has uses an older version of CAD 2004, so I always save to the older format for him.
When I etransmit, I be sure to add the excel file, but when he opens the dwg, only the outline of the excel appears in his dwg, no content.
As many of us seam to do the option to save by default to an older version of AutoCAD or universal DXF format is selected, my problem is however when you save an existing drawing a prompt appears asking if 'Drawing*.dxf last saved in AutoCAD 2004 format. Save in AutoCAD 2013 Drawing format?' this has annoyed me for years!
I have set it as default DXF 2014 for a good reason I don’t want a prompt asking me if I want to then save it as 2013 or I would have set it like that on my default setting, gets on your nerves when you are doing 100's of files.
