AutoCAD 2013 :: Multiple Details On One Sheet But There Are Several Different Scales

Jan 17, 2013

How you can have multiple details on one sheet but there are several different scales.  Some are 3'-0"=1'-0", some are 1 1/2"=1'-0'.  Then when you set up the sheet you just make different view ports.  But i don't understand how you can draw them all in model space in difference scales.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Details From One Sheet To Another In 2012?

Oct 2, 2012

We work on A3 size sheets and becourse we have a lack of plotters we can not exceed this size. What the next entails ... The details that we need to make understandable are something too small because there is just no space on the paper for us to make this really clear by eg using the scale 1:1.

Our question is:

-Can I place a created detail from Sheet 01 on to another sheet?

-Can I have a reference in the partkist to this Sheet 03?

AutoCad 2D :: Multiple Linetype Scales

Jan 14, 2013

We deal with multiple architects at our company, all of whom have different standards for their Linetype Scales (on a drawing at a scale of 1/8"=1'-0" some use 36, others 24 etc).

We need to take their Architectural drawings, remove all of there dimension notes etc and create an empty floor plan we put our designs on.

The issue is that we cannot have all of our symbols work with one consistent linetype. We have to go into the block and manually overide the LTS of the individual item to suite the LTS of the architects drawing.

Is there a way we can insert the architect background as an x-ref and have the LTS of our drawing not effect it? Or possibly a LISP/Script that divides the individual LTS of all their entities by their global LTS so everything looks fine in our drawings.

We have had issues with annotative objects in the past with some of the architects drawings so that is not a viable option.

AutoCad :: Pen Settings For Multiple Scales

Jun 17, 2011

After many years, my office has finally come to the realization that we need some standards when it comes to AutoCAD. One of the standards I'm trying to figure out is regarding the pen type settings and various scales.

How to go about setting up one ctb file that would cover printing drawings at various scales, but the line weights will remain proportional to the appropriate scale? Our current method of printing is setting up a 24"x36" sheet in paperspace and printing at 1:1. Sometimes we have to do our drawings at 1/8" and others we can do at 1/4", but regardless of the scale, the drawing is done with the same lines/layers. The current method of plotting is by using 2 different ctb files, one for the 1/4" scale and the other for the 1/8" scale. This seems a little ridiculous. I know there is the "scale lineweights" box, but doesn't that just apply to when you change the plot scale?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Catalog Of Standard Details

Jul 26, 2012

I would like to make some sort of an "online" catalog where the engineers could review details, and just tell the draftsmen the details they would like to include in their design set. I'd be very interested in any system that you might use.  We, at one time, used printed booklets for the engineers, but got to be a hassle when details changed.  Is there a good software system that might make this an easy task?

AutoCAD Inventor :: Accessing Sheet In Multiple Sheet Drawing

Apr 16, 2012

I have a dwg file with three sheets in, just default names, I can access sheets 2 and 3 but get the attached errors when trying to access sheet 1 form either sheet 2 or 3

This file was originally created in IV2009 I've had no problems then or with the various conversions of it.

It seems to be memory related so here's the sitrep as for memory 8GB DDR2 RAM, and Virtual Memory set at min of 8192MB and a Max of 16384MB, I did have it set a systems managed but that gave a warning of low virtual memory with almost every drawing file that I opened.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Plot Styles For Different Scales?

Sep 10, 2013

I've been using Autocad for over 20 years.  Any office I've ever worked in never used custom plot styles.

Can custom plot styles control lineweights of objects at different scales?  For example, I have a floor plan drawn for 1/4" plotting the lineweights look fine.  Now I want to print that floor plan at 1/8" but many lines now look darker than before.  Can I create a plotstyle for the 1/8" scale to control the lineweights?

so in one drawing, the annotative scales of the objects are listed as 1" = 30' etc, and in the drawing i have them xref'ed into are 1:30.  the only way i can get the annotative txt to show up is to make them non-annotative.

im assuming it has to do with the difference of 1:30 and 1" = 30'.

create a code to add scales to the scale’s list?

I just want to have the necessary scales, so don’t want to add to the template.

The command function is basically to allow me type the value of the scale and based on that, adjust the properties of the scale. (Name appearing in scale list - Paper Milimeters - Drawing Meters)

Example:

>Command line: setscale

>type the value of the scale to create: 50

set 1:50 to default

AutoCAD 2013 :: Details And Sections Signs In Model / Viewport Modes

Mar 13, 2013

Details and sections signs in model/viewport modes,

In steel structure drawings, it is very common to have cross sections at particular locations as well as having details at specific joint.

I’m wondering if there is a way to have automation for

Having a sign (circular or rectangular) on the original drawing to show what each viewport represents on the model space (attached). This feature is already available (for example) in the ArcGIS software, i.e, each viewports is indicated by a sign on the original map to show where we are in that viewport

Having a cross section sign that represents at which location the cross section is taken (attached)

I’m not talking here about 3D model. All what I want is to show what each viewport represent on the mother drawing and also to show where the cross section is taken.

AutoCAD 2013 :: Linetypes Show Up In Different Scales In The Same Drawing

Oct 20, 2013

I am trying to understand how Linetype scale works, and have been researching on LTSCALE, MSLTSCLAE and PSLTSCLAE. I believe I have a fair understanding of each of these settings. Still, I can't figure out how the scaling works while I was trying to create custom line type. To illustrate, I created a new linetype called XCENTER, which is exactly the same line type as CENTER except its name, in a new LIN file.

*XCENTER,XCenter ____ _ ____ _ ____ _ ____ _ ____ _ ____
A,1.25,-.25,.25,-.25

After loading the new linetype into my drawing, I was surprised to see that CENTER and XCenter show up in different scales in the same drawing (see png).

My work file is WORK.DWG, I have purged everything except the two polylines, one with the line type of CENTER, the other xCENTER. Not that my global scale is 1:100, LTSCLAE=, MSLTSCALE=1, the object scales are both set to 1.0.

I copied the two lines to clipboard and pasted on a brand new drawing TEST.DWG, and the two lines show up in the same scale.

What in my original drawing WORK.DWG is causing this problem?

AutoCAD 2013 :: Deformation Occurring When Printing With Different Scales

Feb 27, 2013

Deformation occurring when printing with different scales,

It is gorgeous that one can preserve the text size, hatch size, dimension size, etc. regardless the scale the drawing is going to be printed with.

For example, if the text size, hatch size, dimension size, etc. are proper as the drawing is printed with a scale of 1:100 then how about printing this drawing with a scale of 1/50 and 1/200?

A scale of 1:50 looks fine (attached)
A scale of 1:200 has some overlaps! (attached)

Then how to get a nice drawing (dimension size, text size, hatch size) when printing the drawing with a scale of 1/200? In other words, how the annotation objects can be adjusted proportionally such that no overlaps and distortion is occurred?

This so we can do batch printing and not have to maunually assemble dwg file with multiple tabs from the individual dwg files generated by Inventor - as near as I can tell, there is no way to get Inventor to NOT create a separate dwg for each sheet in the IDW???

Revit :: Import A Sheet With Multiple Drawings From Autocad

Feb 25, 2013

I am trying to import a sheet with multiple drawings on it from AutoCAD to a sheet in Revit but when I do so all I get are the lines showing the AutoCAD sheet and the drawing labels but no actual drawings. I have done this before and can't figure what is going wrong. I have the import options set to color: black and white, levels/layers: specify and unit: inch. I also don't have AutoCAD on my workstation and it is a very large hotel project with hundreds of specific details and sheets that I do not want and do not have time to change or redo.

The DWGs I have are all set up as sheets and I don't have any individual details or drawings of the project not already set up as an AutoCAD sheet. I thought I could make the process simple by just importing the DWG sheet with all drawings to a Revit sheet at the correct scale, explode the layers, delete what I don't need and be done, this is NOT the case. Also I can get access to AutoCAD on another workstation after hours .

AutoCAD Architecture :: Multiple Sheet Sets Sharing Same Layouts?

Jan 21, 2013

I am in the process of generating a separate package which is a suppliment to the main package for a project. The sheets from the suppliment will be incorporated into the main project, but many sheets from the main project will not be included in the suppliment.

My thought was to make a separate sheet set that shares layouts with the main set which I was able to do by making a copy and renaming the .DST file. Now I see that supposedly a single layout cannot exist in two sheet sets. I ended up working around this by creating a sheet in SSM with the same # and Name in each Sheet Set and was able to get them to appear in both. Want to find out if I'm creating a landmine of a problem down the road or if there is a better way to do what I'm doing. In the past, I beleive we simply selectively printed only the appropriate sheets but on that project it was cumbersome and at the scale of this project it will be worse.

How can I do this? It only allow me to drag and copy the file once. I wont be able to drag it again under another folder.
