I have several groups in our organization which utilize Autocad 2013 products, but each group buys their own licenses and utilizes a network license server.
Can I install each license file into a seperate port on same server to allow each group to use their own pool, essentially to not allow the other groups to have easy access? (We customize the install for each group to a particular lic server/port)
At our school we've got a 60 seat network license for AutoCAD 2013. It is controlled by flexlm. Now, one of our teacher, who travels a lot, needs one of the licenses permanently on his notebook.
Can I extract one of the 60 licenses from the flexlm manager and transfer it permanently to the notebook? If yes, is there a special software for it or is there a documentation, a "how-to"?
How to make the registration and activation of Adobe products (including CS6 and InDesign) work through an explicit proxy server (using NTLM or Kerberos)? I am sure that a company of Adobe's size must have the technical resources to enable their products to work through proxy servers, especially seeing as most organisations do use proxy servers these days.

I need to change the layer that my "Produced by an Autodesk Educational Product" border is being put to. I've never had to assign it to my text layer in the past; it has always just gone there. Now it is showing up on my furniture layer and I don't know where that setting is to move it.

I can connect to it and add the features to a map when using Map 2012, but not with Map 2013, even with the Sql Server hotfix installed. In 2013 I can log in to sql server and see a grayed out list of the feature classes, but I can't add them to my maps, and I get a message about no spatial data found, (or something to that effect).

Situation: Autodesk Revit MEP Suite 2013 to Autocad MEP 2013.
All our DWG files are stored on a network share. Files in that share are indexed by Windows Server 2008 r2, so searching in files from within Windows 7 is quite easy.
Unfortunately, the server doesn't index DWG files - it doesn't have the required filter installed. Now I can add the DWG extension, but it will use a 'Plain text filter' that's unable to look inside the DWG's. It should use the AcDwgFilter.
So: How do I get the server to index DWG's without installing AutoCAD? I.e. how to install the AcDwgFilter on the server.
How can I install 2014 vault basic on my synology NAS Server? I have been told by our IT Guys that it won't be able to handle the vault software. What makes the Synology Server not work with Vault?

The message I take from autocad is "CANT FIND FILE"
My office uses Dropbox as a server for all of our working files. I can create and work with CAD files (using many x-refs) without a problem. The problem that I have occurs whenever someone else in the office tries to use the CAD file that I created with x-refs OR whenever I use a different computer station (still logged in as myself)...the X-refs are always missing (detached). I can reattach them but this defeats the purpose of using the X-ref. how Dropbox works.
View 5 Replies View RelatedSo we have an HP T1100 plotter and we want all the .pc3 files on the server. I go to the plotter in my devices and printers from the start menu and I add in all my custom paper sizes. Then I create a .pc3 file that points to a system printer on my machine for that plotter. I then move the .pc3 file to the server. Next thing I do is go to .pc3 file on the server and filter out all the unneeded papers sizes (arch, jis, iso, etc.) so all that shows up in the plot dialog box are the custom sizes I created. I then re-path autocad to the server in my options. All is fine so far, everything plots fine.
Now I go to another machine and point autocad to use the folders on the server for the plotters. I go to plot and the .pc3 files are there but when I pick the paper size drop down selection, all the arch, jis, iso sheets, etc... that I filtered out are now there. Well, I can go into the .pc3 file on his machine, re-filter out all those unneeded paper sizes and all is well, but then I come over to my machine and all the unneeded paper sizes are there again. It goes back and forth. I save on one machine and then the other one is messed up.
I cannot get the unfiltered papersizes to stay that way on the .pc3 file thats on the server. Why is this? I know I have the .pc3 file pointed to a system printer on my machine but we have the same printer on each machine with the same drivers. We could just put the plotter on the server so there is no system printer but that is not an option right now.
My currently PS license is an upgrade which I downloaded. I did not purchase the upgrade CD. I now need to re-install the product on the new machine our copy the product from the old machine to the new. How can I accomplish this?

it is suggested to reinstall the software, but this is not working for me.I have already tried to 'repair', 'reinstall' and completely remove all the software and then reinstalling it, but nothing seems to fix this problem.

I copy a .dwg to my remote computer and open it. Then .dwl and .dwl2 are created in same local folder as the .dwg I just opened localy. Then I copy the local .dwl and .dwl2 files back to the remote server in the same location I received the origional .dwg from. Why are those files not locked now from everybody on the network that I am remotly away from?

Put in serial number - says it is already registered - I know that - just not associated with me I guess. Deactived PS and tried again - same.
At my office, we are experiencing a major malfunction with AutoCAD and server based files. I believe it is due to a server restructuring that occurred last week and we are having troubles since then.
Basically, on some drawings, all I need to do is select a HATCH object (of any size) and AutoCAD crashes. The same behavior is exhibited when editing an MTEXT object or, say, a dimension TEXT. I was also able to recreate the crash by typing STYLE, trying to edit the text STANDARD template, and essentially anything having to do with "simplex.shx."

Illustrator CS6 hangs (spinning beach ball) when saving files to the computer's local HD while having multiple server share points mounted.
I am NOT opening or saving the file to or from a server. The server is mounted so that I can move my saved file to it once complete.
Unmounting the servers fixes the problem and Illustrator CS6 returns to being normal (not causing a spinning beach ball).
This is repeatable, not intermittent.
we have a dilema regarding Backburner 2013:
I work at a studio and we want to buy new servers and we want to purchase Windows Server 2012 wich, from what we read is based on Windows 8 architecture. We read BackBurner 2013's specification and Windows 8 didn't appear as supported.
Our question is: If we buy Windows Server 2012 Enterprise for the render farm will it work with Backburner 2013 without any problem?
I recently added 2 monitors to my set up to bring my total to 3. I am trying to figure out the best way to work on one drawing, with 2 differant veiws on each of the 2 main screens.
I would like my main screen to have the plan view and the second monitor to have an isometric veiw (or whatever I need at the time) of the same drawing. Is there a way to have the same drawing opened up in another window, in one session of Autocad 2013. One on the main screen and one on the secondary.

Is there any way that Autocad can have multiple items placed on the clipboard for insertion use like the Microsoft Office Word program has (up to 24 inputs). This would be a good feature to allow going to one file, copying what you need and then switching to your current drawing file and placing them as needed.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a lot of polylines that are all over a drawing from an outside source. Unfortunately the only unique properties about them are:
AREA = .14 sq in
PERIMETER = 1-11/32"
Everything is on the same layer, color by layer and are at the same elevation.
Any way to select just these closed polylnes? I tried quickselect but the AREA option did not work (it wouldn't except just the .14 value), and there is no apparent PERIMETER value to select.
I incorporated an architects drawing into mine, and brought in hundreds of linetypes and text styles. Whenever I cut and paste from that drawing, the linetypes come too. If I cut and paste within the drawing, I think the linetypes multiply. It's made the drawings almost unworkable.
I can xref the file into a new drawing, and edit the x ref to make it part of the drawing, which gets rid of the linetypes, but adds a prefix to every layer, block, text style etc.

When plotting from AutoCAD Map 3D 2013, after 7-8 plots, the programme crashes (with a warning to report the crash to Autodesk). This happens whether we plot to pdf or to the printer (HP 5500dn). This is happening to every user in my office. We print across a University wide network for the printer (which I think is using the HP Universal Print Driver), but the pdf creator is on each individual machine (no network needed). It's irritating when you are trying to plot 15-20 figures and have to keep re-starting AutoCAD.
The machines are Viglen, 64bit, Windows 7, 8GB RAM, 3.3GHz.
I am currently working on a complex roof truss (kind of similar to the new roof in Kings Cross station) and have currently got it in autocad as thousands of lines.... I am hoping to 3d print it and require all the lines to be solid cylinders of which I can convert easily enough individually... Any way of converting them all to cylinders to save having to do this over 5000 times!!

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have several architects who use VectorWorks that then export their electrical to me in a dwg format. I then use a program that makes intelligent devices from their blocks. The problem is that if there are 300 receptacles that are exactly the same, there is be 300 different block names for then such as group_205-1. In the past I just individually insert my intelligent block over each one of their blocks. But Now I am wondering if there is a way to select all the blocks and give them the same name and not have them all disappear because autocad sees them as duplicates.
I tried block replace, but it is one at a time and it gets rid of the old block. I then downloaded a trial of mblockreplace.vlx. However, it seems to also make all the blocks disappear. How to give the blocks the same name in a multi-select fashion without them all disappearing afterwards?
I've started having a problem with the Publish command when publishing multiple drawings to PDF.
When I plot a drawing using the plot command, I don't have a problem.
When I publish one drawing using the Publish command it is also fine.
It is only when I try to publish multiple files that the problem occurs- the PDFs are produced, but the it is as if the drawing contents (paper space) has been shifted up by 10mm or so, cutting off the top of the drawing, and creating a larger margin at the bottom of the drawing. I use exactly the same page setup as for the single drawing plot.
There seems to be no setting that would change this, and the fact that publishing a single drawing works suggests that there is some kind of bug. At the moment i have to plot every drawing individually (or get my colleague to do it- it works fine on his machine, same page setup file!)

I'm using Window 7 Home edition and AutoCAD 2014.
When I publish multiple pages with either pdf or printing, it only prints the first layout. I tried to repair/reinstall AutoCAD and the problem still exist.
