Preface: A dynamic block c/w a "flip" parameter and a multiline attribute will crash when the block and attribute is flipped, and the attribute justificatiob modified.
Explanation: When the dynamic block is flipped, the multiline attribute is also flipped causing its justification to switch from "top left" to "top right". When the attribute is edited in the in-place attribute editor to switch the justification back to "top left", it causes AutoCAD to crash.
Workaround: Instead of using the in-place attribute editor (i.e. same as MText editor), the attribute justification is changed by modifying the attribute properties in the "Enhanced Attribute Editor" dialog box - on the "Text Options" tab
I am experiencing this issue every now and then and I don't know why or how it happens. No modifications to the BlockDefinitions or any BlockReferences are made and for some magic all multiline attributes in the drawing file revert to single line. After that happens the only way I know to fix them is to go through all definitions in the Block Attribute Manager and make every attribute multiline again. This is very annoying because I don't know how it happens so it can be prevented and because it takes time to fix them again. AutoCAD 2012 (Mechanical) on Windows 7 32 and 64 bits.
Using AutoCAD Architecture 2009. I recently updated my office's rom tags to use the multiline attributes for several properties. A couple of my officemates are getting an errant behaviour that i am unable to replicate.
- sometimes when using a tag, the multi-line attributes move themselves, by alot. up or down, even change the text alignment. This can happen in constructs and in views. You can see the displacement as soon as you start dropping the tag, the block ghost will be all messed up.
- starting a new view from scratch will make the tags behave normally (a constuct that tags properly can result in a view that does not.)
- if tagging the constructs (i, know, i know), copying out the spaces to a new file, tagging, then copying in the geometry will also fix the tags. if i copy ALL the problem persists. If i remove the tags and purge the styles and drawing, the problem persists.
is this a fluke, or is there a file setting of some sort that my mates have (de)activated?
i have two projects that are working without a hitch, and two that are badly misbehaving.
Problem: Create a dynamic block with visibility, use a Multiline Attributes for text entry in to the block. I create multiple lines of text when editing the block in model space. Either with gripping the txt window width or use "Enter" to define multiple lines.... I proceed to edit the block slightly and when I close and save changes......All ML Attributes default to single line text. In turn i have to re-edit all my text.
Bugs like this are extremely painful. No rhyme or reason to them... Looking for a workaround other than using separate attributes for each line of text.
I'm getting a little frustrated with the multiline attribute. Every time a place it in a block and save the file, the tag moves to the left when I re-open the block file or try to insert the block in another file. how to stop the tag from moving? FYI Locking the tags position makes no difference.
I've recently noticed that my multiline text boxes in old drawings have been splitting themselves into multiple multiline text boxes. They aren't exploding into single line text because it won't let me use the convert command to turn them into multiline because they are already multiline.
I know the dimassoc command can be set to a certain value to cause all dimensions to explode but is there some kind of command that could have change itself and is causing this problem?
When will working with multiline attributes get easier? Having to do multiple clicks to get to a place to edit is one thing, but then you have to use multiple clicks to get out of it. Surely Autodesk can make this an easier process. It was great when these were finally added, now they just need to be more user friendly.
How to add a particular annotation for multiple selected multiline texts,In the attached screenshots, all Mtext were selected but couldn’t figure out how to add a particular annotation scale to them!
For example, I wanted all the selected mtext to have the 1:100 as annotation scale but sounds not to work with me.
I just have a quick question (hopefully) about an activity I want a Dynamic block to perform.
I have a simple electric switch block (a line with an S over it), that in some cases is enclosed by a simple rectangle. When the switch is enclosed, I'd like the attribute to move further, to keep the spacing the same.
Is there a way to make the attribute move automatically with the display of the rectangle, maybe through some combination of Linear Move parameters, Visibility parameters, and a formula?
I am using managed classes to insert multiple block references into model space. I wish to insert a block and then move it (change its Position) which I can do. The problem is that my attributes associated with this block reference do not move.
If you look at the attached drawing you will see my drawing sheets. The problem I have is regarding the attributes used for the 'Checked By' section of my sheet.
Yesterday I added a 'Size' tag to my sheet so this shows whats size paper the sheet is to be printed at. To make this fit I needed to move all the existing attributes over to the right.
Everyone except the 'Checked by' tag moved. I cannot now get this tag to move over even if I open the block up and move it.
I've been using Autocad 2014 for several months now, and I've noticed that every couple days or so it turns off my autosave. I can check the box to enable it, and set it to 10 minutes, and a couple days later it will be unchecked and say 0 minutes in the box. I don't know how often it happens, I know it takes more than one day, but it's really annoying and one of those things I usually only find AFTER I have a drawing crash on me.
Some of our drawings have the ability for the viewport view to be dragged despite the viewport being locked. Is there an alternate way to lock, or unlock a view besides the option located on the drawing tray?
I like my command line to be near the left hand corner and not "docked" (meaning taking up the entire bottom of the screen) like this:But each time I plot, and open AutoCAD 2013, It snaps back to the middle like this:
I've tried saving my workspace (I'm very familiar with customizing and how that all works) but it just always snaps to the middle.I really like the floating command line and found that if I have it just to the right of my UCS icon at the bottom left of my screen, it's out of my way, but gives me the lines of info I want.
How to make it stay near the corner and not snap back to the middle?
I have a base plan with some light fixtures that need to be rotated 180.
Yesterday, I rotated the fixtures then saved the file. Then I closed the file and emailed it. When I reopened it, the fixtures were rotated back, but the file I emailed was properly rotated. I saved over our file with the one that I emailed, and all seemed fine yesterday. This morning I open it and everything’s rotated incorrectly again.
Whenever i move my cursor over a 3D solid, outlines of the solid stay dashed.I tried changing the visual effect settings but it doesn't work.
it doesn't only do this in every view (top, side, front) but also when i'm panning around and hover my mouse over any solid. Using the regen command resets the solids so that they don't have the dashed outlines anymore.
whenever i'm panning around and i have conceptual view on, i have to switch from conceptual -> wireframe -> conceptual if i want the solids to look normal again.
How do I get the draw order to stay the way I want when I close and reopen a drawing? I even think that a couple times, without even closing and reopening the drawing, the draw order has flipped back to the way I don't want it after changing it.
I have 2013 inventor/mechinical a cad did not have enought memory on c: drive added another hard drive E: need to move my files to the e drive. single seat all on this computer.
some attributes you can double click and edit within the dialogue box, others you have to double click and they are greyed out in the box, you have to click the little button with ... on and edit in place on screen... why?
whats the difference between the block atributes? attached is an example...
I am looking for a way to increment an attribute so that when i have a block with a number attribute and i make multiple copies of or array it the number changes incrementally.
I have some blocks with attributes, with the default of some of the attributes being blank. When I try to transfer the block to my Tool Palette, the block loses the attributes that have blank defaults. Why are these attributes disappearing from the block?
I am not very familiar with block attributes or data extraction. I have lots of questions.
i have 20 blocks each inserted multiple times. I would like to provide drop down menus to track each individual part and label size, location, etc. Can i insert attributes to one block and copy the attributes to other blocks?
Can i pull in info from an excel document, or do i have to enter the info line by line in the lookup table? (i have 400 names to assign in one of the dropdown menus)
Step by step process to pull the info from the attributes in these blocks into an Access document?
I work for a company that has several AutoCad seats. I have created a block with 4 attributes. On my computer and others the block works fine. On one computer 3 of the 4 attributes are placed at 0,0 instead of with the block.
I have an drawing that is loaded with attributed blocks. Nothing but text. When I XREF this into another drawing, none of the text shows. Layers are on, nothing is set to invisible.
I think this drawing is from an older version of AutoCAD, would that be the problem?
Whenever I Output a shapefile it shortens the name of my attributes. I am using the Map 3d Export, i selected my objects, then select Data tab and select my block, and click ok. Then when i go to load the shapefiles into the database it has shortend the name of my attributes.
There is a way to change the text in a tag to include spaces without getting the error that tags cannot be null. I've forgotten how to do this. I can't find this in my AutoCAD manuals, or on-line.
