View 2 RepliesI recently upgraded to Map 3d 2010 to Mapd 3d 2013 and i cannot figure out how to find the commands to insert images or import/export shp files.
I'm running 2013 in "autocad classic" and did so with 2010 as well. 2010 had a menu bar pull down called "Map" where I could insert an image (Image->Insert). There was also in 2010 a toolbar named "Map" that had import shp, export shp and assign coordinate system.
I can't find any of this in 2013. I can't even find the commands in the customization to create my own toolbar. The commands work (mapiinsert, mapimport, mapexport and ADESETCRDSYS) but i can't find them listed anywhere.
I mostly use Max for 3-D walkthroughs of architecture models I design in Revit, and in all of my renderings I have computer monitors and televisions. For effect I would like to make the monitors appear as though they are in use during the walk through, nothing fancy, just a standard home-screen would do.
Is it possible to insert .jpg or png screen-shot files in place on the monitor screens to make these objects look active, and how would I accomplish this task?
I have been able to insert a PDF into an AutoCAD 2013 dwg but only as an attachment. This seems to be similar to xref but I can't seem to bind the pdf to the dwg. Therefore when I send the dwg to a client and they open it, they only see the drawing format and no PDF attachment. Sending the PDF as a separate file is not an acceptable solution.
Is there a way to insert a PDF and bind it to the dwg so an external reference file is not required?
I'm not interested in converting the PDF to a dxf or any other format. Just interested in knowing whether there is a way to insert and bind a PDF to an ACAD dwg.
I have 4 plans of the a building in separate files, all set to world ucs. I xref in ground floor to the first floor, then move the first floorr so it aligns. I complete the same process for plant room and roof. Having saved all the files I then xref back the first floor into the ground floor using the insertion point as 0,0,0 but the plans do not align???!!! I do the same for the other plans, the plant room plan aligns with ground floor whilst the roof plan aligns with fist floor [but not ground].
I have tried reinserting numerous times but am missing something? The files were supplied to us as dwg format but I do not know the full history.
I am having trouble getting a simple macro to browse insert a block. My file path looks like this.
L:/Acad Blocks/Blocks_(SEPCO)/STRUCTURAL/2013_SEPCo_Blocks/WELD_FILLET.dwg
I'm working in a different department and can't figure out why the attribute box won't open when I insert their title block. I have checked that all the variables attmode, attdia, attreq, filedia, and cmddia are all set to 1 in both drawings. What am I missing? I'm using 2014. I'm attaching the drawing I want to insert.

View 6 Replies View Relatedtried to insert Excel tables into 2013 3D? It worked fine in 2012 but we just upgraded to 2013 and it no longer works. We get an error message that Excel is not supported. Is this a new feature or a bug? Also, our old drawings with the table already inserted does not plot normally. The table characters print at diffent sizes.
View 9 Replies View RelatedLast week we upgraded to ACA 2013 from ACA 2012.
I am now having issues any time I try to insert a Block into any drawing - I get a Fatal Error.
I have uninstalled & reinstalled this afternoon but I am still having the same issue.
It happens when I am trying to insert blocks from both the Design Centre & also from Tool palettes.
Other users in my office do not have this problem, the only difference between my set-up & theirs is that I have installed the 'AEC Section Display & Tag Scale Hotfix' but I have tried uninstalling this but had the same results.
Is there a way to get rid of the unreferenced image files from a drawing from the command line. I have thousands of dwgs to batch edit using a script and Script Pro and need to automate the "right click and detach" on the command line.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI have downloaded a slew of AutoCAD linetype files and have tried to "cut and paste" them into my acad notepad with no success - (maybe that's where I'm going wrong, right off the bat). Anyway, after pasting the lines of text into my notepad and saving the updated notepad, I return to AutoCAD only to find that the linetypes are not available for use.
View 8 Replies View RelatedEverytime we insert a block from our library, a message pops stating:
"This application has detected a mixed version of AEC objects participating in this operation.
Newer AEC objects will be disallowd from participating in this operation."
I already converted all blocks to AutoCAD with Exploded AEC Objects, but the message persists.
My company uses a menu system to organize standard symbols. The problem is that every time I insert one of these symbols I have to reset my Osnap settings because it clears all the check boxes.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using AutoCAD LT 2013 and I'm having problems inserting .dwg and .dxf files into an existing open dwg. I have previously done this successfully on this computer so I'm pretty sure that I am doing it correctly. What happens is this: I go to insert the file, select it and it shows the correct image in the preview window, but when the actual file inserts into the drawing, it's a completely different file all together. The funny thing is, I have restarted my computer and the program several times, and each time it inserts a different drawing. I have tried inserting a .dwg and .dxf and they both insert the wrong one. I tested it by xrefing the document that I want to put in and it shows up correctly when I xref. I've also tried saving it as a block with the WBLOCK command, and still the wrong thing inserts.
I downloaded the service pack for AutoCAD LT 2013 and nothing has changed.
I have just installed LT 13 and am trying to insert a jpeg as I have done so many times on previous versions of Autocad LT. why and how I can do this as it was previously through the insert command.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am working on a drawing and my boss wants me to put the company logo in the corner of the picture. Im really struggling to do this. I've done some reading up on the net and read that i must covert it from JPEG to DXF then from DXF to DWG. Which i have done and inserted.. But, the picture looks nothing alike the logo as it is just lines, can insert it with the colours etc?
If not how can i plot my cad drawing and print the logo on the same page, to right hand side of my drawing forexample.
I am using Inventor Pro 2014 on Windows 8.1 and when I insert or import a DWG file from AutoCAD into Inventor to extrude it into a solid, nothing shows up. Apparently a wizard is supposed to pop up but when I try it nothing at all happens. I have tried reinstalling it but nothing seems to work. I think importing a DWG into a 2D sketch is a fairly basic thing to do but I'm baffled that it isn't working. I have SP1 already installed.
View 7 Replies View RelatedWhen I insert a pdf it does not have a white background and it REALLY slows down CAD. I played with the contrast and fade but the image gets worse. The best I can get the image to look is having the contrast set to 100 and the fade set to 0. I have used this pdf in other projects using 2004 and 2007 but with 3013 it is inserting it quite differently.
View 6 Replies View RelatedEvery time I attempt to insert a block with an attribute in it from my tool pallet I get the error FATAL ERROR: Unhandled Acess Violation Reading 0x0020 Exception at 4260af08u.
If I insert a block without attributes it works fine. I even tried building a block in 2013 and then inserting it from the toolpallet, still fatal error's out.
Inserting blocks from Design Center into model space causes the fatal error: access violation message to pop up.
This never happened in 2012, and I used it from day one.
My livelihood as a 2D drafting student depends on being able to use the blocks from DesignCenter, and now all of a sudden (I've been using 2013 since the day it released with no problems at all until about a week ago) it crashes every time I try to insert a block, regardless of which method I choose to insert with (i.e. right click insert or dragging into the model space window).
I'm on an Alienware M17x R3 running Windows 7 Home Premium with a Quad-core intel i7 processor, 16 GB of RAM, and an NVIDIA GTX 560M 1.5GB graphics chip.
I've tried system restore, program repair, clean uninstalls, and none of it fixes the problem. It seems that once the levee broke, so to speak, the bug is there to stay. Or perhaps more accurately, it was there the entire time and it was only a matter of time before it surfaced.
In either case, I would love, after having been a guinea pig, to see a patch issued for this if possible. Not being able to use the sample dynamic blocks is hell. Barring a patch sometime soon, I'm strongly leaning towards going back to 2012, which worked like a charm.
I am asking user for scale factor and insertion point. but the actual image always display width and height as the scale value, if i insert value of 5 for scale factor width and height will be 5 but not according to coordinates system.
but if i insert the same image manually width and height are calculated by autocad according to scale factor before insertion.
double scale = promptDoubleResult.Value; var xAxis = new Vector3d(scale, 0, 0); var yAxis = new Vector3d(0, scale, 0); var ucs = document.Editor.CurrentUserCoordinateSystem; using (Transaction trans = database.TransactionManager.StartTransaction()) { RasterImageDef rasterImageDef = new RasterImageDef(); rasterImageDef.SourceFileName = imagePath; rasterImageDef.Load();

I have a drawing that has an OLE image in the drawing format. In this particular drawing the image is not showing up. The border around the image is there but nothing else. All my layers are on and OLEHIDE is set to 0. Every other drawing I opened that uses the same format is fine.
I have attached the file with just the formats (my company is pretty strict with posting any drawings). The image should appear in the bottom left corner.
When trying to open or insert files, the folders and files are listed in reverse alphabetical order (Z on top to A on bottom) in AutoCad. All other programs are listed fine, Word, Visio, etc. Is there a variable I can type in? I have changed none of the setting that I know of. Using AutoCad 2009LT.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI am having trouble inserting a JPEG image in Inventor 2011 LT drawing (DWG) file. The Image button on Insert panel under Manage tab is always disabled. I am able to bring in the image using Insert Object feature and selecting 'create from file' option. Although the resulting image looks OK on the screen, it looks inverted and distorted when printed.
I am facing the same problem when I try to insert image in a dwg sketch, however, the process works as expected on part sketches.
I created an attribute of a title block, our company logo is inserted as a raster image within the attribute, I created this dwg file into a dwt file (template) however every time I open a new drawing and insert in the template file in the paperspace tab the attribute comes in but always with the logo?
The frame of the logo shows up with the file path of where is is located.
